Good video, but Jimi never used the Roger Mayer Octavia Rocket like the one on the video, instead he used aRoger Mayer proto, the one with a White Enclosure that was labeled by Jimi "OCTAVIO". with a little transformer on it to match impedance inside the circuit..

Great gear. Did the Univibe originally ship with the case? I saw Jimi in 1968. The opening act was The Chicago Transit Authority soon to be shortened to just Chicago. Two great guitar players that night, Terry Kath with Chicago and Jimi. It was the day before mothers day and Jimi announced that if any ladies would like to become a mother to stop backstage after the show.

@scottecstrat No sorry, it came in the the Univox Univibe cardboard shipping carton. I actually found one still boxed. The top, lift-off, paper board part of the carton, is a bright royal blue with the word SHIFTEE written in orange block lettering, from lower left to upper right. Univov Uni-vibe in small letters underneath. Hope this was helpful. Perhaps if they'd had any idea how iconic this effect would become they might've offered a decent road case. Maybe I've just never seen one, doubt it.

Jeez... seeing that old Octavia sitting there made me feel all misty 'n' stuff. I had one of those about 20 years ago, until it got run over by a forklift of all things (it happened at a loading dock and it's a long story).

One of these days, I gotta build me a new one. I'm not even gonna bother trying to find an original at this point. It's an easy circuit, though... if I can locate some moldy oldy germaniums for it.

I doubt that this is Hendrix's original equipment as that Stevie Ray Vaughn actually was very proud of the fact that he acquired Jimi's original VOX Wah Wah Peddel and the other digital equipment shown here didn't come out untill the early to mid 80's .

I saw no digital effects...regardless I'm sure Jimi used more than one wah...(give me a Fulltone Clyde anyday)...I have never toured on the scale of Jimi and even I break stuff...and none of these guitars is strung for a lefty so it can't beoriginal since the Shin ei is clearly stated as "mint"......I seriously doubt Jimi never got a scratch on a pedal.

All I'm saying is that this is not Hendrix's ORIGINAL equipment. Where are the Ibenez TS-9 Tube screamers ? Hendrix was known to hook up 4 in a series at times.The Dallas Arbiter company first issued the Fuzz Face in 1966,[1] although the first fuzz faces were simply made by "Arbiter", the second batch then introduced the "Dallas" arbiter addition.The original Fuzz Face was discontinued in 1974 or 1975. The first, albeit short lived, reissue made by Crest Audio came out in 1976.

I would be skeptical....as I stated earlier, guitars aren't strung left, Shin ei is mint (looks like it's never been touched) even a repainted (which many are)and fixed up Shin ei won't look that good. I have used a real Sin ei before and my Fulltone Deja Vibe 2 is an exact sounding device I got it off Ebay and $180 sure beats paying $1300 for an opening bid on Ebay....I've watched many Shin ei's sell there and they all go over $1000

I had a friend who had one.. was alot of fun to use....I hate to sound like a broken record, Fulltone makes one that uses a tape just like the old ones... check out their site see who uses them now!...like everybody! The Un Vibe is the thick liquid swishing phasing sound like you hear when this song plays at the beginning of the video, Echoplex was an analong delay that used a tape like on a reel to reel.

It's cool to have the original vintage gear, but for playing, reissue is way more practical.. I picked up used germanium fuzz face for 30 bucks.. A used vox wah is cheap, MIM strat is just as good with better PU's..

Original 60´s gear of Jimi´s?. No I dont think so. Its similar products, but not the actual ones. According to Eddy Kramer some of the original stuff is on display/exhibition in Electric Lady studios, and some are in a Seattle museum.
