  • Superb.TY Starwalker6978 for posting

  • An extraordinary pianist playing a magical composer.

  • Together with his brilliance and versatility as a player, Horowitz was so magical musically.

  • This performance was first released in a special product LP possibly for a Goodyear Tire promo. I have the record somewhere and I could look it up.

  • Is it an audio seam @ 00:42?

  • he recorded fairy tales nos. 1, 3 ,4 ,6

ehy they have released only n.3 ???? :(

  • @4785689 I read in a Horowitz CD insert that this is the only one that was released at the time. I heard he actually frequently played Medtner at home or at recitals, but hardly recorded his pieces, which is truly sad. I also read that he was commissioned to record this fairy tale.

It's this exact recording that convinced me to start playing Medtner, and I've never looked back.

  • @kingvictory2003 Medtner himself recorded this - three different takes (!) on the same album, and none as interesting or magical as this. Medtner's compositions are full of inner & hidden themes, and only a Horowitz could make them all appear as naturally as walking.

  • So beautiful and sensitive.

  • Made me smile when I heard this and realized what recording it was. Horowitz played some of the best Medtner performances on could possibly think of.
