I never admired or envied a movie star more after witnessing a performance than Nicolas Cage after seeing this in 1987. Since then? Maybe Peter O'Toole in "Lawrence of Arabia" when it was restored and re-released, but no one else.

They shot this in my neighborhood. I love this movie but Cher's performance is so phony and her accent is very inconsistent. Glenn Close should have won that Oscar for Fatal Attraction.

@pudgeuncle I have never seen this movie yet, so I am not going to judge Cher's acting on it (I will rent it this week end or the next one).

In 1988 it was a much more difficult decision between two superb actresses: Jodie Foster who played a very difficult role and Glenn Close who played a vile aristocrat.

I am still shocked that as one of the best actress of her generation she has never won an Oscar yet?
