Buy the damn video. Instead of stealing it from such a wonderful teacher.
God knows there is little enough money made teaching people to knit, crochet or tat. So to have your copyright video's posted is pretty low. Really low.
Bev is a great teacher. She taught me to crochet first, then knit. If you're adding an extra stitch on each row, then you are probably doing a yarn over somewhere and not realizing it. Be sure when you switch from knit to purl that you place the working yarn correctly, either in front (for a purl), or in back (to knit). Move that yarn back and forth each time you change from knit to purl and vice versa, or you can easily add on extra stitches, and a yarn over may not be obvious to a new knitter.
I thank Bev for having such a clear and SLOW illustration. I've crocheted since I was 8, & then learned the American knitting technique via library books (yarn in right hand). I just recently watched YouTube to learn the Continental technique. I just love it but am having such a difficult time bringing the yard forward to purl....Bev, I'm so impressed at how you do this so elegantly without losing your yarn - where in your left hand do you keep the yarn taut so it doesn't slip off your finger?
Okay,, I got the casting on part down and all and now i'm trying to knit a scarf,, but ive noticed that as I keep going it keeps adding another stich WHAT AM I DOING WONRG?!?!?! it's driving me nuts. Please get back to me?
You might find that at the start you are taking your working yarn over the needle before you work your stitch and effectively pulling both legs of the last stitch (now the first stitch) over the needle so they look like two stitches instead of just one. Make sure that the working yarn comes directly down from the last stitch on the underside of the needle before you work that first stitch (or slip the first stitch as the case may be). Regs... Megs.
