@deathknight51 I dont know if they make a white shade to be honest..... If not try a very light drybrush of a gray on the black areas.... that will make it pop.... or maybe some light wet blending on the raised parts (just the very top parts dont go hog wild less is more)
Depends on the miniature. If you havea red trim and some other bright/warm colours, then it might be an idea to higlight the black areas with a subtle blue-grey to create contrast between the light and dark areas, and to keep the balance between warm and cold colours on the model.
If you have other details that already have cold colours on them it might be an idea to do a more neutral grey highlight, maybe a hint of brown mixed in to keep the highlight from being too stark.
if you were to quick shade white like white scars what color of quick shade do you prefer and how much are these.. im not located in the states.. so that i have an idea if ever I ask a friend to buy for me..:) thanks a lot..:)
@socialimpetus they have 3 diff shades from soft to heavy... I would start off with soft and work your way up... you can also brush it on and not dip it for better control.. not sure how much it costs but the warstore dot com has it... it is by army painter you could prob google it and find a store locator that would have it close to you... if you need more help just let me know
Thanks for making these videos... I am new to painting minis and was not happy with what I have done so far trying to rush them for the table a bit. I am hoping this technique will help save that a bit ;)

Really Cool Booteg... I think I'll get some now! I Agree it does need the Mat Varnish... plus adds protection. I will get teh Dark Tone. But what have U found the other 2 shades useful for? The Strong to and light Tone I think they are...??
@cheech381 the light all I can think of would be doing faces maybe or multi coats and building up the shade maybe. the other you have to be careful that it isnt too dark for ur colors....but all in all it is good stuff
@garythegit well i hope it works out for ya... it's not real hard to do and looks killer.... u can also brush it on it get better control just remember to buy sm dull coat cause it does make em shinny as glass but it'll look great after the dull coat

lol thank you..... i mean it i was in a touchy mood and needed a chuckle and u provided me with one so thanks again......... now dont we wish that it'd work....cause i have a stompa still in the box and it would make it a ton faster :) hehehehe thanks again bro i needed that
im off buying one of those cans, still got a Assult on black reach-box from last christmas, and a stompa and battlewagon from this christmas that needs to be painted xD
well that would be an expensive dip project to say the least hehehehehe but it could be done.... big ol bucket and a ton of cans of dip..... but u can also brush it on as well so it could be done but i do get the joke :) thanks for watchin
i dont think there would be a prob doing high lights over the dip.... u might have to do a flat coat after the dip is dry but that wld be worst case......
Nice videos. I´ve got 1300+ unpainted minis I´ve collected over the years and am now getting around to paint them. I´m definitely going to use this technique. Thank you for the tutorial.
it could be either way.... either a 1300 point army or 1300 minis..... the first one would be faster to get done..... but if i counted ALL of mine i would prob have that many....if not close to it
im like an epic noob at the whole painting thing but is all you did just put a basic coat of colour (no black undercoat) on and then dip it in some kind of wash which gave it all the shadows and stuff?
well they do have a black under coat but other than that..... yep thats all u have to do this way. they are not the best BUT for the lil work ur doing they'll look great
Looking really good, but I think that it would be a good idea to use slightly darker background (maybe blue?) as it's hard to see the details when the light hits the minis.
well i guess i can try to make em look real bad if u want me too.......... hehehehehe just kiddin but ya they look good for the amount of work actually done on em
DoYou think dipping in the light and the dark gave the colors more of a natural gradiant? Because maybe both would produce even better painting results!!!!! Dale You are THE MAN!!!!! way to go!!!!!
i'm not sure..... but since i did dark second i kinda doubt it, its actually their med shade they make a darker one i just got the lighter two, but i think it is about right (the middle one that is)
ya i did hehehehehe u caught me.... i gripped too hard with the pliers and messed it up.... i have a ton of extra bases just too lazy to fix it hehehehehe shhhhhhh dont tell anyone
The primer and the shade will cost you about 36.00 US. And yes it works with ALL colors. They have some pictures of drednaughts painted with the system on there store page and it looks really good too.
ya one can will cost about 30 bucks and u can use it with any colors or paints (well i havnt found any u cant yet) now they are not perfect golden deamons BUT...... if u want to put mass troops down on the board FAST this might be for u
yea i was thinking the same thing, dipping might take less time? but if you use the 'army painter' with a paintbrush, then you might as well use a wash for cheaper.
ya but man the ones i saw that was done with a paint brush and wow is all i can say..... now the newer washes u have to do coat after coat to get it looking like one pass of this.
ahhhh, i see, so its still got a faster and easier result with a paintbrush. and they look amazing? well, this stuff seems like it might be worth the cash. thanks for the demonstration of the stuff dale. =]
Impressive results from just a dip, but I'm trying to understand if there's any difference between this and just "washing" a mini?

They turned out awesome for just base coating and using the dip, ever tried using minwax polyshade? The wood stain.
I know its not too pricey but you need to do a matt coat on the minis cause they are really shiny

How many models can you dip using 1 can of army painter?
Greenskin player here so need alot of models to be painted =P

more than enough for your army.

two to three whole armies so it is cost effective

Question #57692=After you dip the model and it dries, can you go back and do some highlights or does the dip juice act like a sort of sealer?
drakkonis418 2 years ago
yes i didnt do anything to them after dipping but if i did ....well they would look bad asz if i did.
BootlegPainting 2 years ago
bluetablepaintings way of doing it tho they add extra motor oil =)
1RedCorsair 2 years ago
that stuf is a LOT beter than the old furniture stain method. I may have to pick up a can of that army painter stuff.
that HAS to be what blue table uses on 80% of the minis they crank out. it looks VERY similar.
