  • Hi there, you made a very specific statement saying that if a barometer has a round dial with a needle it will be an aneroid barometer, unfortunately that's not necessarily true. There are some mercurial barometers that have a brass float that rides on the mercury, the float is connected to a pointer by a thread. The mercury tube is hidden behind the dial, if you see such a barometer in a junk shop, buy it, if you see it in an antique shop you may not want to pay the asking price. .. Andy
