This is right out of my childhood, I lived on Northlawn off Davison, so I wasn't far from the Makenzie hood. This was back when you could to to Sears on Oakman and Grand River and buy a home movie camera (Sears sold everything) and make your own movies. Love it!
Hey I live in Canada and these scenes are right out of my days of youth . thanx for the memories I dont know you or your friends but enjoyed watching . too bad more photos and film wern't captured in those days. LOVE the flaired pants and I had the same plaid jacket. Thaks Man Freezing in Canada.
Westside in the hood near MacKenzie we called it Hitching.
I recall one bad storm that we were Hitching buses on Joy Road.
We grab a bumper on on a car on Meyers & Joy heading north on Meyers and hanged on for the ride of our life; the guy made the light at West Chicago and Plymouth roads; they only thing that shagged us off was the railroad tracks just before Joe May Chevrolet on Grand River & Meyers; boy we were pissed we had to walk all the way back but laughed about it the whole way.
I weep for those days. Our children will never know what America was really like. all they will get to know is this 3rd world shithole it has turned into
@lookinguy13 What section of town were you guys from? I am guessing Old Redford, Warrendale, or Seven Mile and Evergreen? Maybe Murphy Junior High? That is the way I remember houses. I don't you guys lived as far down as Cooley High School area?
@lookinguy13 Thanks! That is why I guess around Rosedale Park because Rosedale Gardens in Livonia were built by the same developer. You guys must have grown up by Daly's, Franklin High School, the Floyds, and the Poski's.
Comic books and rubber bands Climb into the tree top Falling down and holding hands Triccycles and red pop, Remember when you were a kid Well, part of you still is And thats why we make Fago.............. Faaaaaygooooo Remeeeeeeembers.
I'm getting old. I like all the modern things(like this computer)but there are sometimes when I'm lying in bed and I sigh for the old days when it was just T.V. and radio.
@smoke1witOb11 not really! I don't like snow, or being in snow, the only snow I like is on a christmas card. So it dosn't suck for me. I enjoy the warm sunny days at the beach! That was fun! and still is! :)
I grew up on the Southwest side-we used to call it "Bumpin'"-Whoever does the music rules-leave a message let'n'me know who it is-anybody who thinks this video sucks is whacked.
people did looked happies back then. Away from violence and drugs problems and all that...

We called it STUPID on the Northwest side and most of us didn't do it; we went Tobogganing, sledding, or ice skating instead!

Oh yea, bumper hitchin'. You could sneak out and do it to cars that didn't even know you were on the back. Seemed fun and easy back then.
