This woman is quite the contradiction. What other church teaches that families are forever? Was she looking for a faith that said its ok not to be a good christian you'll be with your family forever? Lol get real, rewards follow work.
@TrickTrolan It is hard to leave cults. They have fear programming. They say you are going to places like outer darkness if you leave and you will never be with your family when you die. Complete nonsense for me that is why it was easy for me to leave the man made religion, but some people really believed that BS and so they have been programmed with fear and it is terrifying. Would it be terrifying for you to leave the church if you found out it was not true?
@TrickTrolan Takes guts to leave a lie when your entire family are duped. Faith is believing without evidence and that is how many false religions have kept membership. Feelings can be from sources other than God like His enemy and ours Lucifer. Check out your mormon friends are they really living clean lives.
I am also an ex-mormon. I have been through the temple rituals and was "sealed" to my now, ex husband. He has been married and sealed THREE times, and you don't get a temple annulment, meaning I am still married in the eyes of the church, even though I HATE him. I wasn't allowed to be sealed to my son due to him being from a relationship from before I was baptised and his father didn't permit it. I left because I am sealed to a monster but not to my own blood?! WRONG on all levels.
I suppose atleast Mormonism holds out the hope of a life beyond death in fellowship with one's loved ones even if this is never fully realized through disobedience, whereas the secular worldview allows for no such possibility, and is therefore far more bleak. However, I am not a Mormon, and, in fact, I detest this Church, but one gets the impression from these ex-mormon videos that leaving the LDS Church somehow equals having a wonderful, liberated life. That's as much myth as Mormonism!
I'm 15 years old and recently god a girlfriend however my parents are furious. My mom thinks i am going to go on a mission but i decided i wasn't going to go on one since 6th grade. But I am afraid to tell my parents because they want to be with me forever. So I am stuck in this situation i can live life how i want to live it or follow my parents out of fear of hurting them
If you don't understand why Mormons build temples, you should refer to the bible! Because if The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is not true, then which one is it? please tell me!
@rodrigovp007 the mormon church is the ONLY church that says they're the "true" church. Truth is NO CHURCH is TRUE, jus hav faith in Jesus n leav it to him to decide if yu go to heaven or not, yu judgemental fucks stfu
@rodrigovp007 ...have you never heard the phrase "my body is a temple" or perhaps Acts 7:48? Building places of worship is endemic to humans - God doesn't require it.
THANK YOU! I've been the child terrified of loosing a parent (my dad came out when I was 13)... a sibling (my sister had a child at 17 when I was 12) & now that I'm in a long drawn out divorce & dating a non-member who accepts me & my two children (whom I don't want to feel must be perfect in order to be loved) things are better in letting go of the church. Thank you again for sharing your story! I cried with you because I'm a mom & I've been the child & ALL I want is that bond & love to grow.
im an ex-mormon as well. thank you so much for this video, brought tears to my eyes. it is absolutely horrible what this church does to keep you in it.
Good for you Kerrie! The Mormon Church is based on lies by a mortal man named Joseph Smith. The fear tactics are how they keep people in line. Joseph Smith was involved in the Masons group which is where those secret temple rituals come from. When you lose the facade of what Joseph Smith supposedly is, you see the truth & are set free! I'm happy for you for getting out of the cult of mormonism.
Her "reasoning" doesn't quite add up. About this "obedience" she speaks of....Mormons don't want people to do anything out of the ordinary or difficult. Obey the laws, don't drink, don't smoke, love ALL people (no matter what they believe). We teach the youth to be cheerful and respectful and to seek the good things in life.
Is it really that hard to seek your own happiness?
@hannahbanna93 Being still sealed to an ex husband in the Temple yet the law on earth says you are divorced from a monster? Call that good??? Having to get his permission to marry again, even though he's remarried? He can say no and I'd be stuffed. Having to "obey" your husband while he beats the crap out of you and the church stand behind him because he is an "upstanding member with a temple recommend"? No, this is a BAD church. The Temple is scary and wrong on many levels, made by MAN.
So fantastic to see another person throw off the shackles of religion so that they can live their life to the fullest the way they want to. Not the way someone else tells them to.
I am so glad that you made it through the long journey of leaving the church with your family intact. I've watched the series of videos you and your husband have of sexual repression within the church (the LDS church) and it made a lot of my own problems clear.
instead of trolling this video I'm going to show my loving support I want to meet this women in real life I have similar views and when watching this I just wanted to give her a hug its truely a moving experience when you let go of the binds the lds belief puts on you
The one thing I am noticing about all these "I'm an ex-mormon videos, That ring true is that they all left the church, because they didn't want to believe... They all left the church because they couldn't get what they wanted in life.... All I see is selfish individuals. All I kept hearing, is "ME, ME, ME"... Then they end with that's why I left. Because, I wanted to do what I want.. I want to commit sin, they way I feel... And I don't want God telling me what to do to get closer to him.
You can't have evidence, if you don't at first have beliefs.... "A knowledge of the existence of something we cannot penetrate, of the manifestations of the profoundest reason and the most radiant beauty - it is this knowledge and this emotion that constitute the truly religious attitude; in this sense, and in this alone, I am a deeply religious man. (Albert Einstein)
@anpuakaanubis If you exercise faith in your beliefs and consider them to be absolute truths, you can't objectively test your beliefs properly. It is an inherent flaw in religious thinking.
@iamanexmormon.. you are mixing up word... Faith and Beliefs are two different things. I can believe God is real, but I don't have to have Faith in him... For a Religious thinker... I would say, they have faith in God.. and therefore Believes he will save them. I Can test my beliefs, buy simply showing I have faith..
There is no fear programming in the LDS Church. Unless you want to include every religion in that, since they all say you are going to hell if you don't believe the way they do. Like someone posted a few days ago, obedience to God's laws is necessary. Even the Bible says that.
@LDStothecore This is just not the case. Many denominations accept that membership of their own is not a requirement of being saved nor is membership a guarantee of being saved. I am a Catholic and am taught in the Catechism that men and women of goodwill who genuinely seek the truth and live according to their lights will see heaven (we only have one of those to your three)
@Estaban333 I don't know much about the Catholic church, however, I do respect everyone's right to believe what they want. As for Evangelicals, most I have come in contact with at a minimum will say if you don't believe what they do you go to hell.
@LDStothecore Thank you for your courtesy but you really shouldn't make sweepingly inaccurate comments about what "every religion" teaches when many most certainly don't including the biggest of them all.
In Christ you are his child, we are all his chosen shhep...at his return all those who believe WILL be with him in heaven, not to a so called, invented, bottom of the celestial kingdom, not in scripture...Joseph Smith was drunk out of his mind, "doctrine of fools" just as the Bible states....
@jackmarsilva Yeah, according to your anti-Mormon sources, "J. Smith was drunk out of his mind."
And if you believe in the doctrine of the trinity, please don't tell us about "doctrine of fools", for the trinity has not biblical support; it actually contradict biblical accounts.
Christ is the answer, not men. Forget about man-made supposed revelations about this and that. Follow Jesus always, and you will never go wrong...God bless you now and always...Peace!!
What a great point. Why would it matter to go through some Mormon temple ritual in order to be with friends and family after we die. God would not block you from seeing loved ones in heaven because you have not been sealed to them in a Mormon temple. Complete foolishness. OF COURSE FAMILIES ARE FOREVER. LDS do not have a monopoly on this.
The script reading here is on a par with some of the best I have ever seen. When Barbara Striesand sang songs for which she couldn't remember (the words), she too looked down and to the right or left to refresh her script. Not saying she isn't sincere, but she is just as likely to be wrong as she is to be right.
you could love your kids even more before. Your story makes me so sad, Take them to the temple and just sit there. Don't even go in. Just sit there in the parkinglot and feel the spirit.......please. God loves you and your family so much. that's why he gave us temples. so that we could be sealed. Parents dont threaten "you wont go to the temple" because any worthy child wouldn't have to be threatened. If it isn't true....then why are so many people members?
@aroramay18 God loves us so much that He gave us Jesus, not a building. That is the problem with mormonism. How sad that the mormon church uses family to hold on to it's members.
@nj2az2ut.... You are correct... The temple is not a place that any sinner can just go in and do as they please... And the church do think highly on family values.. This woman built up her own fear as to what will happen to her if she had in opinion... They stress over and over again about free agency... free will... She left the church and her family still loves her... what a surprise... had she realize that maybe she wouldn't be so upset about having to leave just to know the truth.
@nj2az2ut and lets not forget the part where Jesus goes to visit one of his church and got mad because they were selling goods in the temple.... He reminded us that a church and a temple is a place or worship, not sales... And they are needed to spread the gospel to many and not few. I have read over in over from the Bible that temples are very important... She knew she was not ready to go to a temple and she left the church because of that guilt. The guilt she gave herself.
@aroramay18 "If it isn't true....then why are so many people members?" It's called deception. Everyone on the planet believed Noah was wrong. A large number of people believing something is true, doesn't make it true. Its not a voting matter.
This touches me more than an entire weekend of testimony meetings. At least you know you love your kids, and your kids love you, and not out of fear. Beautiful.
Why not "I'm an ex-Catholic" or "I'm an ex-Jew". If you were the adversary and wanted to stir up the hearts of God's children to fight against Him, where would you focus? You would focus on the fullness of the gospel. Did you ever ask yourself, why such a big deal over something that you believe is not true. If it really was nothing....then it would be treated as so. Ask yourself this, how do you feel inside when you post against LDS, is it goodness..or? the feeling is telling
@brilliantlycreated The "I'm an ex-Mormon" videos started being uploaded because of the "I'm a Mormon" advertisements that have been airing recently. It has nothing to do with singling out Mormons.
@10529231 We are not the first or last to use media to get our message out. There has never been an anti-movement against any other messages that I've seen. Jehovah Witness has their media, Catholic Services has theirs, etc. So, yes, the adversary is at work, and he is sadly using these people to do his work. I'm sorry if that's offensive, but you can be happy with who you are, without developing a movement AGAINST others.....like race, politics or anything else. It is not a method of God.
@brilliantlycreated You asked why there were no "I'm an ex-Catholic" or "I'm an ex-Jew" videos and I answered your question. I have no interest in your argument.
@10529231 You didn't answer my question. I asked people to explain why is it only ex-mormon videos. There is lots of media by others - so why not ex-catholics, etc. I think it's kind of silly that you didn't answer the question, and then when i try to get you to....you call it arguing.
@brilliantlycreated There ARE videos by former members of various religions on YouTube found easily using the search function. You can find even more information on ex-Catholic and ex-a bunch of other religions with an equally simple Google search. The reason there are MORE ex-Mormon and ex-Jehovah's Witness videos than say other religions videos is simple. The more overtly cult-like tendencies of the Mormon and Jehovah's Witness movements require a more overt push-back.
@IsobelDeBrujah Ok, well at least thank you for giving me a decent response. There are three things that I am taught every week in my LDS ward 1) Know God personally and seek HIM deligently 2) Grow to be be independent both spiritually and temporally (don't depend on others for answers) 3) Study, study, study everything you can and use goodness as your guide to know truth from lies. Correct me if I"m wrong, but a cult teaches dependence, isolation and fear.
@brilliantlycreated I should make it clear that I agree with you - I remember learning the same things every week. But we all know that teaching by example is a much more powerful way to learn- and every week I learned the following:
1. If 'unworthy', I would be publicly shamed by not taking the sacrament (fear and guilt) 2. "Us vs Them" mentality (isolation) 3. Confessing to leaders and asking permission for important events like missionary work or marriage in the temple (dependence)
@iamanexmormon Part 1) Sadly, we don't agree, you see God's rules as control, instead of protection. First, the adversary teaches you to care more about what others think, than God, and that is one of his wicked tools. I have skipped the sacrament, because I KNEW I hadn't repented, and I didn't worry about others, only doing what was right in God's eyes. Sins are not confessed to Bishops, only transgressions, and it for the purpose of guidance, not dependence. (part 2 cont above)
@iamanexmormon Interviews for missions and temple marriage is to make sure you are knowledgeable and educated in the works or ordinances you are about to do. God created a system for you to gain knowledge before entering into those things. I see similar twistings of many of the LDS principles. I believe that the only difference in our perspective, is that I've worked hard to deny the tools the adversary uses to touch spirit or heart. Feelings of embarasment or guilt are Satan, not God
@brilliantlycreated You're wrong. Not about what cults teach but about your implication that Mormonism doesn't rely on dependence isolation and fear. Mormons are taught that disbelieving indicates a failure of the individual and Mormons are SHOWN that even disagreeing with church practices, can lead to loss of income, friends and important community ties as is shown in the videos posted by Peter Danzig and his wife. They use fear of failure, God's judgement and shunning.
Whatever the possible problems with the Mormon Church, I have never met a Mormon family that didn't absolutely love their children. This seems more like a critique on any church's fear tactics than on the LDS church itself.
This is the best video about mormonism. Joseph Smith can go fuck himself. He created the most disrespectful, judgemental, self-beniffiting protestant church ever created. Im sorry you had to go through this.
satan will always try to break down the families because the family is the greatest weapon that we can use against him a strong family can defeat satan and all his power cannot even think about matching up and by you saying that you are scared for your children not always being worthy to be with you in heaven well there was an event called the ATTONEMENT that took care of those fear with this great gift we can all return with hevanly father.
did you get a testimony before doing any of those decisions ?satan is trying to destroy your family, get counceling from profetionals, will you try again ,because satan knows , you guys are gods children .
Kerri, I want to thank you so much for putting into words something I have always felt was wrong with my own family as I was growing up. As a child, I had no desire, whatsoever, to do wrong, and I strove so hard to do what was right, yet I felt so bad about myself. Every fault, flaw and failing was held under a spotlight. My mother could not love me as I was, but was so concerned for my salvation that she felt she had to watch me like a hawk. This explains it so well. Thank you.
@batthoselashes "she sounds as if she is saying she never went to the temple because she found out the chruch wasn't true,"
Not sure what makes you say that. She spoke about going 'more often' to The Temple rather than not having been at all. In the local ward I attended members were always being 'pushed' to go to the Temple more often. It seemed not many of them were that enthusiastic for the hokey pokey handshakes and baker hats pantomine.
seriously, she's a fake. and, don't know what you are getting at Jays, but plenty of people leave the Mormon church. sure, Mormons don't like to see it, but they realize all have free will.
How can she be a fake? She was a Mormon and found out it's a crock of lies and left. Simple as that.
And don't forget the LDS church is the biggest ACTING school in the world creating emotionally disturbed testimony bearers for the cult so maybe there is some remnant of that in her emotions rather than being a fake.
A churches stature can be judged by the amount of enemies it has! I have been investigating the LDS church and have found that all of these videos that attack the church are contrived lies and their aim is to trick and mislead the public about what the Church of Jesus Christ is all about,, The forces behind these videos are the enemies of Christianity, the enermies of Jesus Christ,, If you want to know the truth about the Mormon faith please visit mormon.org and lds.org and learn the truth.
@slickis82 I agree with you, I am examining both sides,, but don't believe the videos that you are seeing on you tube, they are contrived with one purpose and it's to discredit the LDS church.. I have been investigating the church for months now and so I can spot the lies in these videos and the hidden motive is evident to me.
@Robyshileileh I agree with what you've said in regards to the hidden motive; many of the reasons for leaving these people provide are just laughable (leaving the church because you have to hang article of faith posters on the wall rather than pictures of dogs, not wanting your husband to lose interest in women through not watching pornography, yet pornography will destroy his interest in you, etc.)
@Robyshileileh I'm 17 and confused of my perspective and membership in the church; I read the journal of discourses quote of Brigham Young's black racism, and the church stated that not everyone is perfect including the church leaders. The story of David killing a man to obtain his wife but later repenting is a great example of this. What I have trouble understanding is how the racism went on for several succedding prophets despite apparantly being the voices of god on the earth.
@slickis82 please go talk to David Lory here on youtube, he is a huge help with questions. also, please read your scriptures and pray about it. there is no replacement for personal revelation.
@slickis82 I just encourage you to pray to be able to discern what to read for yourself, and also to have your heart filled with a greater desire to understand them. I have been up and down with my studies, but when I pray to have help to have a great desire to learn, it DOES seem to help me stay on track with regular study and to comprehend what I read more. Good luck to you!
@Robyshileileh What made me question the most was that, if I remember correctly, the church changed their stance on blacks just days after the American government practically forced them to do it, along with the quotes in regards to the situation made by Bruce R. McConkie, both before and after the change in stance. I also heard during Sunday School that god does not make mistakes.
@slickis82 African Americans gained equal rights in 1964. The LDS church allowed for african American to have the priesthood in 1978. thats 14 years after they gained equal rights. So, the LDS church didnt budge just because the nation did.
Bruce R. McConkie wrote several books, one of them named "Mormon Doctrine". this book was not an offical book of the church, and a lot of it was simply mr McConkies opinions.
@slickis82 I would say that the church is not perfect, after all, it is run by people and people are not perfect, but I believe that they do their best to follow the gospel of Jesus Christ and lead the church through revelation.Americans slam the Mormons for being racist, yet they brought the blacks over as slaves,,LOL,, In my opinion, the church is evolving and black people have evolved also. Black people in America have come along way, Youtube" vice guide to Liberia"
@TheNubbbler Where do you get your words?? The Church was restored to BRING FORTH the fullness of the Gospel. It didn't say it would happen at the snap of a finger - POOF everything is perfect now.....BIG SIGH It is being brought back, line up line, precept upon precept and it will continue to grow until Christ Reigns on earth.
@brilliantlycreated Agreed, though If the presidents of the church are called by god and according to the church "are his voice upon the earth", then the black racism would have been corrected rather quickly, as in the story of David killing a man to obtain his wife and later being told to repent. The racism went on for nearly a dozen succedding prophets and was left unchanged for more than a century. Hardly the 'voice of god' if you ask me :/
@slickis82 I believe there are two seperate issues here. One the racism of some members....and the restoration of Church. I believe the restoration is continuing to unfold. I really believe that God waited until racism had diminished before he gave the OK to dark skin people to become part of the church for their own protection, so that when they did become part of it, their joining would be celebrated and thee would be no detection of racism in the members. But, that is my assumption.
@brilliantlycreated My children are adopted from Ethipia, and i assure you, I would have them here if there was any racism taught or even SLIGHTLY suggested.
@slickis82 Oh my!! She didn't say examine one side, she said examine our side as well. i"m sorry, but the leaps people make are amazing sometimes. I think EVERYONE needs to take some classes on communication!!!
I feel bad for her. She has so much fear. I am a convert to the church and I have to say that I love the Temple and the promises found in the Temple are what give me strength. I have been in combat and faced things most people would never understand and the only fear I ever held in my heart was the knowledge that I would lose my children when death finally came. I no longer have that fear and now serve my Lord with a happy heart. Do not condemn this good woman for her fears. Pray for her instead
@TheRabbitRancher I want to personally thank you for that comment....i watch these and want to cry for these people, i understand what they are going through but nothing in the world would pull me away from what i personally know to be the truth. She has no reason to fear, she was young and didnt understand and now doesnt want to understand. Reading all the comments on this page really brings strength to me...satan works so hard against us, but we are not alone. I will pray for her..and everyone
@shippen2010 You keep reading only your bible, let us read the bible and the book of mormon, what is the matter, we are free to believe whatever we want, we do not need your approval to know and believe this chruch is true, not at all
Robyshileileh, That is just your personal testimony and not Gods truth. Your whole life revolves around your church. what the lost sheep need is a personal intimate relationship with Jesus, not bondage to a rigid religion.
I'm sorry, but even in this mortal life, families can be separated by the legal system, if your children grow up to be child rapists, serial killers, murderers exct... there is a place where they go and never leave, it's called Prison. either that or they are executed by the government.. so to live in a fantasy world and to believe that the afterlife is all harps and Clouds for everyone!!!! Well, that's your choice, but I've known some people, that I know wont be with Jesus in the next life.
If anybody wants to know what the LDS church is really about, if you are feeling that your life has gone off track, if you are all messed up and drugs, booze, gambling or sadness has got a grip on you. Feel free to go on mormon.org and chat with a missionary and find the nearest Chapel to where you live and what time they hold church service on Sundays and pass by, you dont have to get dressed up, they will be happy to meet you and talk to you, and your life will change for the better. :)
Hepworth: good for you. I'm glad the church can work for you. And I can't believe I hadn't thought of this before. I'm 16 and struggling with the church. My mom is very devout, and I'm finding more and more fault with the church. It's treatment towards the gay community can only be described as inhumane. But my mom follows no matter what happens, and is scared that she'll lose me to the "world". I've been trying to ease her a little bit.. I know that once I'm my own man, I'll resign from the ch
I am a fourteen year old girl, and I know in my heart that this church is true. I pray that someday you will return to the church, for it has blessed mine and my family's life greatly. I hope you will be able to realize that being in the church will bless you far more than if you were to not be apart of it. Just like @lobsterlady112, I am willing to teach anyone who is interested about the church.
Fear and manipulation are not the methods the LDS church tries to use. If you disobey the commandments, you can repent, and Heavenly Father WILL forgive you. If you repent with a true desire to be forgiven, you will end up where you are meant to be in the afterlife.
I pray she accepts the true Gospel in 1 Corinthians 15... I pray she puts her total faith in Christ for only Christ can bring true peace to the soul... The peace that passeth all understanding! Mormons offer a false Gospel!!
@MyPinkCow No unhallowed hand can stop the work from progressing persecutions may rage, mobs may combine, armies may assemble, calumny may defame, but the truth of God will go forth boldly, nobly, and independent, till it has penetrated every continent, visited every clime, swept every country, and sounded in every ear, till the purposes of God shall be accomplished, and the Great Jehovah shall say the work is done.
Good for her. The Mormon Church is nothing but a CONTROLLING institution that manipulates and controls every aspect of your life. They make you feel shame, guilt, and disgust at your natural human impulses (even masturbating is considered evil). Your body and your life are your own. You do not need this church or any to connect with God. Fear and manipulation are powerful, but will not win out in the end.
@Goneformilesnow No unhallowed hand can stop the work from progressing persecutions may rage, mobs may combine, armies may assemble, calumny may defame, but the truth of God will go forth boldly, nobly, and independent, till it has penetrated every continent, visited every clime, swept every country, and sounded in every ear, till the purposes of God shall be accomplished, and the Great Jehovah shall say the work is done.
@lobsterlady112 I used to be just like you...I used to be mormon and do all those things...and I never got blessed with any of the things I was promised. I left the church and I've never been happier. I've seen the best of both worlds...I mean no disrespect but perhaps you should look at things from a different perspective! I agree completely with what this woman said...she clearly seems a lot happier without the church as well!
@ajhartmetal No unhallowed hand can stop the work from progressing persecutions may rage, mobs may combine, armies may assemble, calumny may defame, but the truth of God will go forth boldly, nobly, and independent, till it has penetrated every continent, visited every clime, swept every country, and sounded in every ear, till the purposes of God shall be accomplished, and the Great Jehovah shall say the work is done.
YOUR own worlds YOU will have your family.... YOU are the role model if you leave they will leave if you stay they will stay. YOU are the mother. YOU are there role model. YOU are leading them to the rest of there eternal life. And what i am about to say is not in a mean or joking way but... If you continue to not go to church then when you and I get to heaven. I will be the one to volunteer to teach YOU the gospel.
And my mother is hard on me sometimes but i know, its because she loves me. She wants me to be safe and I KNOW THAT. That shield that you were taking about its not around your heart it was around your family it was protecting you... from the bad things in the world. I just want to say there are three kingdoms Celestial,Terestial,Telestial. The Telestial will be like earth. Terestial would be like being a queen/king or an angel.. Celestial: YOU would be a goddess YOU would have the power the make
Hello,My name is Karen and i'm 14.I am Mormon. I know it can be hard sometimes but it WILL all be worth it.I wear modest clothing, and read my scriptures,I go to church every sunday,I take the sacrament,I don't swear ever,go to seminary at 5:30am.I wouldn't do all their just cuz. I KNOW that you will go to the celestial kingdom if you just obey the commandments and come to church. So I invite you to come back I know that it will be a little unconfortable but you will be much happier..I PROMISE. :)
@crazistein, I do forgive you, and yes, you should disregard a "testimony" or any statement really, that is replete with or dependant upon excessive qualifiers. However, don't confuse a "condition precedent" as a qualifier. An example would be, "After prayer _____ happened." Prayer, in this instance, is of the former kind rather than the disqualifying latter type.
@crazistein, Each person professes the desire to break some metaphoric chain in exchange for individualistic and self promoting ideals. The idea of putting oneself first, is in direct opposition to the teachings of Jesus Christ. He exemplified sacrifice and service; not self indulgence, gratification, and indulgence as presented by many of these videos.
@crazistein, the sentiments are typical, reflecting the prevalence of a "sin leads to apostasy" dynamic. These "exmormon" videos, coupled with the information on the website, are a revealing and clear example, of how individual sin can have a ripple effect, destroying faith.
Probably make sure your thoughts and statements are coherant and more factually driven before you "post." "We are all entitled to our own opinions, but not our own facts."
Selfishness and pride cause us to justify our behavior. Many use their agency to engage in behaviors which are violative of divine law, then rationalize away those laws believing "there is no sin in this." Many accuse the LDS Church and its members of "brainwashing" all the while failing to accept or realize our ultimate goal is to avoid the evils of the world and mimic a single person, Jesus Christ. There is one road to "salvation" one path, and unfortunately it is very narrow.
@thepunisher1129 Yeah ok.. first off researchers who I know God sent out to help expose satan and his mormon children found out that there is NO WAY that Jesus Christ was ever apart of mormonism, because Jesus doesn't want anything to do with evil.. so satan chose joseph smith as his sidekick the first mormon prophet of satan to USE Jesus Christ name on the mormons so called church just to try and fool Gods children, mormons are about lies, deceit and trickery
@thepunisher1129 Typical Mormon response "You don't believe anymore? Your sins have blinded you, go back to church and repent and you will believe again". Only it's the pride of the believer that blinds them from understanding how someone could stop believing.
@crazistein the sentiments are typical, reflecting the prevalence of a "sin leads to apostasy" dynamic. These "exmormon" videos, coupled with the information on the website, are a revealing and clear example, of how individual sin can have a ripple effect, destroying faith.
Listen closely, she has never been to the temple. Rather than prepare herself to go, she "researched" things. Her husband was not worthy to hold a Temple recommend (pornography/masturbation problem), yet rather than correcting their behavior, they imposed their personal "beliefs" as the way God must be in order to rationalize sin instead of correct it. She states that what we do "is irrelevant?" That "commandments" and "covenants" which she and her husband won't make are "fear programming?"
"Members of my own family who I consider to be very knowledgable in church doctrine and study the teaches often are always claiming that they do not understand much of what is taught."
I am not sure what this means. Is it an attempt to interject some form of authority to your prior statement? Your comment is riddled with qualifiers and therefore rendered meaningless. Thank you for the attempt.
@thepunisher1129 Forgive me for having shared my own experience. I was out of place and have no authority to speak because we all know the LDS church is the only thing that has true authority. Like the authority to punish an entire race for a murder that supposedly took place thousands of years ago.
And next time I hear a qualifier rich testimony in church I will remember your words that it must be meaningless. Thanks for your wisdom.

Is it really that scary to seek what's good?

How is it you use reason for every endeavor of your life, and then when it comes to the ultimate truth say that “faith” is required?
What kind of "GOD" requires "faith" instead of evidence? Faith is the excuse people give for believing in something when they don't have evidence.
The nature of a rational mind does not believe on something if it lacks evidence
A “fictitious god” expects that you believe without evidence
Beliefs are not justified when there is no evidence
nonassumsit 3 weeks ago
Have to play adversary on this one...
There is no fear programming in the LDS Church. Unless you want to include every religion in that, since they all say you are going to hell if you don't believe the way they do. Like someone posted a few days ago, obedience to God's laws is necessary. Even the Bible says that.
LDStothecore 4 weeks ago
@LDStothecore This is just not the case. Many denominations accept that membership of their own is not a requirement of being saved nor is membership a guarantee of being saved. you could love your kids even more before. If it isn't true....then why are so many people members?
aroramay18 1 month ago
@aroramay18 God loves us so much that He gave us Jesus, not a building. That is the problem with mormonism. How sad that the mormon church uses family to hold on to it's members.
nj2az2ut 1 month ago 10
@nj2az2ut.... You are correct... The temple is not a place that any sinner can just go in and do as they please... And the church do think highly on family values.. This woman built up her own fear as to what will happen to her if she had in opinion... They stress over and over again about free agency... free will... She left the church and her family still loves her... what a surprise... had she realize that maybe she wouldn't be so upset about having to leave just to know the truth.
anpuakaanubis 3 weeks ago
@nj2az2ut and lets not forget the part where Jesus goes to visit one of his church and got mad because they were selling goods in the temple.... He reminded us that a church and a temple is a place or worship, not sales... And they are needed to spread the gospel to many and not few. I have read over in over from the Bible that temples are very important... She knew she was not ready to go to a temple and she left the church because of that guilt. The guilt she gave herself.
anpuakaanubis 3 weeks ago
@aroramay18 "If it isn't true....then why are so many people members?" It's called deception. Everyone on the planet believed Noah was wrong. A large number of people believing something is true, doesn't make it true. Its not a voting matter.

Ask yourself this, how do you feel inside when you post against LDS, is it goodness..or? the feeling is telling
brilliantlycreated 1 month ago
@brilliantlycreated The "I'm an ex-Mormon" videos started being uploaded because of the "I'm a Mormon" advertisements that have been airing recently. It has nothing to do with singling out Mormons.
10529231 1 month ago
@10529231 We are not the first or last to use media to get our message out. There has never been an anti-movement against any other messages that I've seen. Jehovah Witness has their media, Catholic Services has theirs, etc. So, yes, the adversary is at work, and he is sadly using these people to do his work. I'm sorry if that's offensive, but you can be happy with who you are, without developing a movement AGAINST others.....like race, politics or anything else. It is not a method of God.
brilliantlycreated 1 month ago
@brilliantlycreated You asked why there were no "I'm an ex-Catholic" or "I'm an ex-Jew" videos and I answered your question. I have no interest in your argument.
10529231 1 month ago
@10529231 You didn't answer my question. I asked people to explain why is it only ex-mormon videos. There is lots of media by others - so why not ex-catholics, etc. I think it's kind of silly that you didn't answer the question, and then when i try to get you to....you call it arguing.
brilliantlycreated 1 month ago
@brilliantlycreated There ARE videos by former members of various religions on YouTube found easily using the search function. You can find even more information on ex-Catholic and ex-a bunch of other religions with an equally simple Google search. The reason there are MORE ex-Mormon and ex-Jehovah's Witness videos than say other religions videos is simple. The more overtly cult-like tendencies of the Mormon and Jehovah's Witness movements require a more overt push-back.
IsobelDeBrujah 1 month ago
@IsobelDeBrujah Ok, well at least thank you for giving me a decent response. There are three things that I am taught every week in my LDS ward 1) Know God personally and seek HIM deligently 2) Grow to be be independent both spiritually and temporally (don't depend on others for answers) 3) Study, study, study everything you can and use goodness as your guide to know truth from lies. Correct me if I"m wrong, but a cult teaches dependence, isolation and fear.
brilliantlycreated 1 month ago
@brilliantlycreated I should make it clear that I agree with you - I remember learning the same things every week. But we all know that teaching by example is a much more powerful way to learn- and every week I learned the following:
1. If 'unworthy', I would be publicly shamed by not taking the sacrament (fear and guilt) 2. "Us vs Them" mentality (isolation) 3. Confessing to leaders and asking permission for important events like missionary work or marriage in the temple (dependence)
iamanexmormon 1 month ago
@iamanexmormon Part 1) Sadly, we don't agree, you see God's rules as control, instead of protection. First, the adversary teaches you to care more about what others think, than God, and that is one of his wicked tools. I have skipped the sacrament, because I KNEW I hadn't repented, and I didn't worry about others, only doing what was right in God's eyes. Sins are not confessed to Bishops, only transgressions, and it for the purpose of guidance, not dependence. (part 2 cont above)
brilliantlycreated 1 month ago
@iamanexmormon Interviews for missions and temple marriage is to make sure you are knowledgeable and educated in the works or ordinances you are about to do. God created a system for you to gain knowledge before entering into those things. I see similar twistings of many of the LDS principles. I believe that the only difference in our perspective, is that I've worked hard to deny the tools the adversary uses to touch spirit or heart. Feelings of embarasment or guilt are Satan, not God
brilliantlycreated 1 month ago
@brilliantlycreated You're wrong. Not about what cults teach but about your implication that Mormonism doesn't rely on dependence isolation and fear. Mormons are taught that disbelieving indicates a failure of the individual and Mormons are SHOWN that even disagreeing with church practices, can lead to loss of income, friends and important community ties as is shown in the videos posted by Peter Danzig and his wife. They use fear of failure, God's judgement and shunning.

Not sure what makes you say that. She spoke about going 'more often' to The Temple rather than not having been at all. In the local ward I attended members were always being 'pushed' to go to the Temple more often.

@Robyshileileh Don't you see the irony in that? The church was suppose to be restored to its pure form.
TheNubbbler 2 months ago

Hardly the 'voice of god' if you ask me :/
slickis82 1 month ago
@slickis82 I believe there are two seperate issues here. One the racism of some members....and the restoration of Church. I believe the restoration is continuing to unfold. I really believe that God waited until racism had diminished before he gave the OK to dark skin people to become part of the church for their own protection, so that when they did become part of it, their joining would be celebrated and thee would be no detection of racism in the members. But, that is my assumption.
brilliantlycreated 1 month ago
@brilliantlycreated My children are adopted from Ethipia, and i assure you, I would have them here if there was any racism taught or even SLIGHTLY suggested.

Just like @lobsterlady112, I am willing to teach anyone who is interested about the church.
crazyjingi 2 months ago
Fear and manipulation are not the methods the LDS church tries to use. If you disobey the commandments, you can repent, and Heavenly Father WILL forgive you. If you repent with a true desire to be forgiven, you will end up where you are meant to be in the afterlife.

@crazistein, I do forgive you, and yes, you should disregard a "testimony" or any statement really, that is replete with or dependant upon excessive qualifiers. However, don't confuse a "condition precedent" as a qualifier. An example would be, "After prayer _____ happened." Prayer, in this instance, is of the former kind rather than the disqualifying latter type.
civadminlaw 3 months ago
@crazistein, Each person professes the desire to break some metaphoric chain in exchange for individualistic and self promoting ideals. The idea of putting oneself first, is in direct opposition to the teachings of Jesus Christ. He exemplified sacrifice and service; not self indulgence, gratification, and indulgence as presented by many of these videos.
civadminlaw 3 months ago
@crazistein, the sentiments are typical, reflecting the prevalence of a "sin leads to apostasy" dynamic. These "exmormon" videos, coupled with the information on the website, are a revealing and clear example, of how individual sin can have a ripple effect, destroying faith.

@shallwe3148
Probably make sure your thoughts and statements are coherant and more factually driven before you "post." "We are all entitled to our own opinions, but not our own facts."
thepunisher1129 3 months ago
Selfishness and pride cause us to justify our behavior. Many use their agency to engage in behaviors which are violative of divine law, then rationalize away those laws believing "there is no sin in this." Many accuse the LDS Church and its members of "brainwashing" all the while failing to accept or realize our ultimate goal is to avoid the evils of the world and mimic a single person, Jesus Christ. There is one road to "salvation" one path, and unfortunately it is very narrow.
thepunisher1129 3 months ago
@thepunisher1129 Yeah ok.. first off researchers who I know God sent out to help expose satan and his mormon children found out that there is NO WAY that Jesus Christ was ever apart of mormonism, because Jesus doesn't want anything to do with evil.. so satan chose joseph smith as his sidekick the first mormon prophet of satan to USE Jesus Christ name on the mormons so called church just to try and fool Gods children, mormons are about lies, deceit and trickery
shallwe3148 3 months ago
@thepunisher1129 Typical Mormon response "You don't believe anymore? Your sins have blinded you, go back to church and repent and you will believe again". Only it's the pride of the believer that blinds them from understanding how someone could stop believing.

She states that what we do "is irrelevant?" That "commandments" and "covenants" which she and her husband won't make are "fear programming?"
thepunisher1129 3 months ago
@crazyistein
Thank you for the attempt.
thepunisher1129 3 months ago
@thepunisher1129 Forgive me for having shared my own experience. I was out of place and have no authority to speak because we all know the LDS church is the only thing that has true authority. Like the authority to punish an entire race for a murder that supposedly took place thousands of years ago.
And next time I hear a qualifier rich testimony in church I will remember your words that it must be meaningless. Thanks for your wisdom.
