I do not know iff we are kin but looking fro my Rice family in Eutaw, AL. My mom name is Josephine Rice Buis, My Grand Father is Joenathen Rice. He was a Coll miner and also car driver. He lived in Middlesboro,KY and then moved to Birmingham,AL
Unfortunately the one person who probably could have absolutely answered this passed away a couple of years ago. Her name was Ruth Wilder Harris and she was a living history book for not only our family, but all the other families that came out of those fields in Greene County. Since Rice was the name of the slaveowner, there were at least two other family lines besides ours.
Several years ago, when I was living in Los Angeles, I met a lady who had married into a Rice family which, as Mrs. Harris was able to clearly show, came from one of the other families in Greene County. If I remember correctly, Mrs. Harris said that this particular family mostly lived in Eutaw, whereas my family remained in a part of the county known as Mantua and Lewiston. It was amazing to hear Mrs. Harris explain who married who, when, and where they went.
This was great! Family is so important and we are truly blessed to have a family that is faithful, loving, and cherishes and celebrates our heritage and history.
