You're not supposed to keep an octopus in a reef environment- and certainly not with any other animals, unless they're food animals. That's why...you have nothing left but a doomed cleaner shrimp.
shrimp: why is there a 8 arm squishy thing comeing after me? octopus: come here you litl squich! shrimp: whats a squich? octopus: ummm i reely dont know. shrimp: wow what a squich. octopus: hey! thats my word! shrimp: not eny mor it ant octopus: ant ant a word! shrimp: ya well squich ant one ether. octupus: what wer we talking about agan?
thats really shitty. why would u put a $50 cleaner shrimp in with an octo. Knowing the octo is going to try to eat it every second of its life. Thats just cruel.
@UmbrellaCorpResEvil You are assuming that the worth of the shrimp's life scales alongside its price. Octopuses eat things that are alive unfortunately.
@iiithecheshirelion i know, ive successfully kept an octo before. i had him in tank by himself from day one, and only fed him shrimp from the supermarket and frozen krill from the LFS. Why someone would put one in a tank with other inhabitants is beyond me. Some stores in Atlanta actually charge $50 for large cleaner shrimp.
Lol Shrimp: Nooo! Octopus come here you American princces. Shrimp: NO! " Learned that at saftey town umm its not working AHHH. Octopus: Come here (slam) ouch my head what were we talking about? Oh right roar. Shrimp: Ahhhh Goo Away NOOOO *CRUNCH* oooooo. Octopus: *Burp*.
ok nafaka i got some leads...its one of the following, california mud flat octo, california two spot octo, or a common octo...ill let you do the research on em
Why did you get a octopus if it was going to kill everything in your tank? You got a nice setup which leads to think you would've known putting in a octopus in with the others could eventually lead to trouble..... I'm not bashing the vid just wondering if you knew or not what would happen.
I feed mice to my African savanna monitor lizard once in a while. Do you think they ever get a break in the wild? Anyways, the shrimp is too fast for the octopus.
i really like octopi but i also love my cleaner shrimp. they've got quite the lifespan, i've had mine for half a year now and he's a pretty good size! about 2.5 inches long. he eats the algae that grows in the tank occasionally, so i never have to feed him, and i rarely have to clean my tank. he does a real bang-up job too! very useful critter, i recommend him for any saltwater tank!
4 questions: 1. How much are they (the octopus)? 2. How big of a tank do you need? 3. What is something cheap that you can buy for food? 4: Is it fresh water or salt water?
my friend had a n african sunfish and another fish in this big tank but every min. of the day was spent by the one fish chasing the african sunfish around the tank under the rocks and through the rocks sideways..... He managed to bite some scals off but never kill him...... what a life and we complain
Im guessing that octopus you got in your tank died a a month or two after this. Octopi dont do well in captivity. Your tank is nice and all but it is still very ill equipped to inhabit one of those magnificient specimens.
That's a myth. Some octopuses do just fine in captivity. Octopuses in general don't live very long- a year to 18 months is average- when they're this large, they're already about 4-6 months old. Buck's octopus looks like a california mudflat octo (O. bimaculoides or -latus) which is an outstanding candidate for the home aquarium. Buck also made a nice tank for him: plenty of space, plenty of hiding. Nice work Buck! Thanks for the fun video.
Cleaner shrimp won this round even with you giving the Octopus assistance! shrimp got game! amazing how they move so fast! Too bad we cant use the same technology in submarines to avoid torpedoes....or can we !!!!! hmmm!
haha awesome dude, extremely jealousx5. wish i had the knowledge(and money) to make a tank as simple but beautiful as yours. oh yeah, the color changing is awesome too, god damn, awesome.
