From 2:50 I'm so reminded by Gershwin, yet I cannot work out from where exactly ... I'm aware of their being contemporaries etc. but haven't read yet anything about direct musical ideas exchanged between the two in their work. Could anyone help me here please? Thanks, cheers :)
I won my college concerto competition with this piece. I didn't like it too much back then because of the jazz insinuations, but boy, I was just young and dumb. When I listened to my recording I was awed at how the music actually comes across to the listener! Of course, Argerich performs on another level from most of us :-) This piece of music is awesome and I only wish I could go back and do it all over again!!
I was all set on going to one of her concerts to see her perform this live! And then the tickets sold out and now there are only $100 tickets, which I can't afford... ;__;
Did Ravel give Gershwin a kick back?

@Watchenlisten Ravel says gershwin" to improve his own style "and not borrow him to make bad ravel music , but wonderful gershwin".....

You must be deaf.

Michelangeli`s performance is much better to my mind. Much more delicate. Love Martha though.

She makes the piano sound like a whole orchestra as she paints a beautiful picture in tones. What an artist! What a composition!
