This video is designed to teach begginers the fundementals of these punches. How to properly execute weight transfer that goes along with each punch. This video was not made to teach how to move forward with punches.Moving forward and stalking down your opponent with punches is something different and a little more advanced. As far as elbows are concerned the answer is yes,of course you can replace the hook with and elbow, However this is a boxing instructional not Muay thai so we kept it simple
I'm coming in tomorrow for the Muay Thai class, there was one thing here I did not understand though. If you jab then cross, shouldn't your opponent's head be too far back for the range of that hook? Also, the range of that hook was equal to one of an elbow, why not throw that instead? I want to improve so I just was wondering if there are special tactics or characteristic behind the hook,
Great comment. I totally agree. This video was made for beginning students so we thought we should keep the information simple so they could focus on one thing at a time.
This is a very good video explaining the 1-2-3. However, I notice that with a lot of Jab, Cross, Left Hook videos is that they don't show you how to move in with this combination. They do the proper technique, but they don't move in with it. In order to throw the 1-2-3 effectively, you need to move in with it, unless your opponent is stalking you and allowing you to pot shot him. Get what I mean? But great instructional video though.
Ughhh i suck at throwing the hook it just don't feel right?
