i like the disscusion i myself want to cross platform bf3 on my ps3 to a mates pc. it would be nice if there was some dedicated cross platform servers out there that if thats what you wanted to do, you could just connect to them as a proxy. i have portal 2 and just need 2 online trophies for a platnuim and having a wider community of players to get this done is a nice feature
You earned a sub+liked, you are very aware of everything, PC gamers are more mature because most of them built their own system, and in order to do that you need a brain which isn't a very common thing to have when you are 12. You seemed to generalize both communities a lot. You seem to think that most PC gamers are more mature than console gamers. (might be true, might not.) I think that it's not as much of a skill gap as it is a hardware gap when you start cross-platforming games. I am decent on consoles, but I've tried the F2P TF2, and I couldn't get the hang of keyboard and mouse. (also my computer is slow...) For myself, cross-platforming would be useful to improve my skills by playing against PC players.

Also, as far as the communities go, I think it's more on a per-game basis than a platform basis, although communities for the same game can be different across different platforms, if that makes sense. For example, the console CoD community is a bunch of mud-eating retards, while the PC CoD community are a bunch of overly-competitive sniff-their-own-farts pro wannabes. The PC TF2 community is great (the console one is non-existent) and the MH3 community is small but friendly.

As usual, I disagree with a lot of the points you've made, but I won't debate 'em. Instead let me just say I'm against cross-platform gaming for some things, but it should be standard for others. First off, PS3xXbox should be standard. PCxConsole would be fine for games like MTG or Civilization Revolution, or even SSF4, but shooters will never be equal on console until they get M+KB as a standard, which I don't see happening any time soon :[

I just don't like it for shooters. I'd still rather have a controller for action games or a platformer. They're not ready to create that rift. The first game that allows M+KB integration (assuming it's on a per-game basis) will be entirely broken and dominated by anyone using a mouse. Eventually things would even out but no developer wants that game to be theirs.

There is an awful lot less trickshotting though. Really all I see these days as far as trickshots go is bounce shots, and that's usually people who are so good at sniping that they're bored of destroying everyone.
I might have miss heard but dedicated servers are way more expensive because they actually require servers and hardware. Undedicated use the players internet and hardware (router) as a substitute. I used play on PC way back, then I stopped and switched to console. I tried to get back on the PC recently, and there was a very noticeable difference, in player skill and the pace of the game. I couldn't keep up with either one of those.
@Juroral if you give a console player a mouse + kb and 60 fps on the same dedi servers... sure theyll suck ass at first bc PC is generally better skilled. but the people that stick around will start to get better and ejoy the fast paced rush gameplay over the slow and campy pubs they get with reg servers.

I don't believe that it should be mandatory, but it should be there as an option via networks such as Steam. I think its an amazing idea, but I doubt Microsoft and Sony will allow, however this could be wrong and they may do this and I hope they do give in and allow it. Oh btw, Portal 2 is awesome and hopefully marks the start to a whole new train of thought.

Theoretically, it's a good idea. In practice, I'm not so sure it will work out well

@JuhggerNuts the part with the trickshotting, i only see trickshotters once in a while on console, and everyone makes fun of them, as they are non-existant on pc, as far as ive seen. trickshotters are a joke to everyone except the sub-community of cod gamers on youtube

The mouse and keybord would annihilate the controller. PC is much better, even the next generation console i going to be behind. If you take PS3, Xbox360 and Wii, ok. But PC, no.

I don't believe that it should be mandatory, but it should be there as an option via networks such as Steam. I think its an amazing idea, but I doubt Microsoft and Sony will allow, however this could be wrong and they may do this and I hope they do give in and allow it. Oh btw, Portal 2 is awesome and hopefully marks the start to a whole new train of thought.

@JuhggerNuts Yes, but that wont stop the aimbots. But it depends what is the anti cheat if it is VAC then there is nothing to worry about but if its punkbuster then there will be a lot of hackers. If it does happen to Modern Warfare 3 than I hope that the consoles will support at least 24 players and that PC has VAC.

@WagglyPie1 exactly what it sounds like. its how much you can see on your screen. a wider fov lets you see more from left to right so you dont have to turn as much. thats why some PC gameplays look a lot different than console.

@PhoEniKzREBORN i dont think thats how it works. you cant hack someones pc because you know god mode hacks can you? lol if there are hacks, itll be on just the one server they all share and there are software to stop hackers and if not that then make mods or a report feature?
