  • First and foremost; good job for explaining this in simple terms to those that have not clue in regards to the rule of thirds. I really like the way you worked in the lead-in lines to this. I've never seen such Duplicity done with such simplicity.

Secondly to those not unlke "NathanMandjes" The world if full of critics. Far too many actualy. If you wnat to be an expert, please post your own video, or leave the rest of the world alone.

  • There are two more basic, but golden rules. 1. Put the horizon on one of the two horizontal lines. 2. Always have the horizon straight. Example; the photo on 4:36; if you placed the surfer on the left vertical line and the horizon of the water exact on the upper horizontal line, the photo would be much, much better.

  • nice vid.. very easy to understand =)

  • I commend you on creating a clear and concise explanation of these two aspects of basic photography and art. The video is an excellent teaching aid that I will certainly use in my classes. Many thanks for making this for public use.

  • my camera doesn't have the grid display, so how do I know that I have it correctly position. It's a cannon 40 D and after looking at a lot of my pictures they are completly wrong . they are centered. thanks for the info. So how do I pose people if I don't have the grid lines display while taking the picture thanks!

  • @001TWagner my camera doesn't have the grid display <<<-- Get a strip of TAPE and stick it on to create a grid.....

  • nice video...very creative indeed...

  • Thank you for finally helping me understand the rule of thirds :D

  • Photograhpy is not based on simple rules and cliches.

At the end we see photos they all look alike.

İt is more on intution and feeling and impact

that photo creates on wievers mind the leftover

    feelings.

So lets not teach cliches, which are popular in

    Europe.

My best photos are all negates the cliches and

    simple rules.

  • I like the music in the intro and exit

  • @bush1tman me 2, anyone know the name of the background music? tnx

  • Nice Video,I have seen many videos on youtube about rule of third from many professional photographers but no one ever explained as perfectly you did you must be a great teacher.I really appreciate that. thumbs up to you.

  • Great stuff- great explanations - thanks!

  • Love the music. Great graphics too. Thank you :)

  • Great Video showing how to conform photos to the classic euclidean visual bias.

  • Yeah, this is really helpful.

  • Nice...thanks for keeping it simple and easy. Love the accent as well by the way. Keep it up.

  • Thanks for a good one.

  • Mistake at 2:46. I should say:

"... but most people prefer bottom LEFT"

just before I go on to explain jig-zags.
