are you using regular 20inch wheels or are you using something bigger where you can have higher tire pressure??? just trying to figure out if your using the bikes as they were back then or if you've modded it to be able to ride it as a adult
Just using ACS Z-48's with Haro tires circa 99' with as much tire pressure as they can handle without popping off the rim. Which is usually in the 45-60 PSI range. I'm 6' and the bike feels fine to ride, to me.
I had a 'PRO-STAR' race bike.... I still have my hot pink 1988 Hutch Excel. Watching this video makes me want to tune it up and rip it up again. Great Cherry Picker!
It sounds like we had the same one. They were probably OGK Hutch Wheels. I'm getting it back this week. Had some work done. All nos and original except seat. Lost seat while in storage. What seat do you think I should go with? Was yours freewheel or coaster?
Damn that brings back a lot of memories. I had an all white Hutch Windstyler (not sure of the exact year). It had foot pegs built into the fork and had white plastic rims. I ended up replacing the plastic wheels with a nice set of wire wheels, had an acs rotor installed and some pitbull brakes. Damn I wish I would've held on to it.
I've got a Hutch TrikStar that I'm going to be selling soon on eBay. It's got Redline handlebars, ACS Z Rims, Uni Seat, Sugino Cranks, etc. The frame has barely been used but it sat for so long in the garage that it has some surface rust and needs to be re-chromed or powdercoated. The bike is in San Diego, CA and I'd prefer a local pickup. I really don't want to ship it unless I get a killer offer. Anyway, message me if anyone is seriously interested.
Just today I got my old Trickstar II bike from a mate I sold it to years ago, cost me a 4 pack of Wild Turkey :P, needs a bit of work. I've also got an original Trickstar frame set on the way. I always wanted one but for some reason it never happened, till now.
I used to have a Trick Styler frame and fork I rode on back in 91 or so. Those were great frames actually. I loved it! It was great for both flatland and vert. The only problem the frame had was the weak rear dropout setup. The chainstays broke way too easily where the connect to the rear dropouts. Other than that I loved the design. The low angled top tubes rocked on those things. I liked my Trick Star a little better though.
I had a Hutch Trickstar, it was considered the cadilac of bikes. Mine got stolen twice. I got it back after the first theft, I didnt learn my lesson and lock it up and it got stolen again. I then rode around on my Santa cruz rob robscott skate board.
Radical! I had a santa cruz Rob Roscopp board also..... Yes, the hutch bikes were the cadilac of bikes... I rode a gt pro performer. I could not afford the hutch, remember the hutch Bear Claws/ or were they the bear traps?... wicked , i took those to the shins a few times.
Oh yeah, I remember the gt pro performer. The pro performers I remember came with some wicked looking mags. Yes, I tore my shins up on those bear claw pedals, I dont know why Hutch produced those things.
god i just love those old bmx bikes
