  • quit your bitchin bout larp or not, its athletic and thats the important part. at least these nerds are sitting on their asses wasting away in front of video games. whats really important is that Troy Polamalu can be seen at 4:07 haha

  • so somehow this is more nerdy then the xbox.....

  • StarTrek Fans VS. These guys/ Live Action Gamers...that would be something Id watch.

  • all of these LARP comments are so ignorant. You've obviously never played Dag. It isn't LARPing.

  • How come the Romans are not marching in one line like they should be doing. Shield to Shield

  • @wakka5010 Because Dag is more about "BASH HEADS IN WITH FOAM SWORD" than "TACTIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIICS!"

  • @jediman500 Wrong! You also have to be cunning to prevail at some of the battles. We do use strategy, not just in one on one combat, but working as a team to accomplish the goal for that particular round, whether it be to keep your princess alive and slay the other team's princess, or capture the other team's flag.

  • the orc sounds like a typical tough guy from london lol

  • @JKT6

Good call. The orc is actually a friend of mine, he created his team based on the football hooligan films.. Football factory and green street hooligans.

  • @IggyZadr nice one! :D

  • Thumbs up for this guy. 2:23

  • This guy honestly thinks he's a real orc

  • @TravianGuide It's called being in character dude. It's all tongue-in-cheek.

  • @femoman cool dude. I could care less what it is called i think it is wierd the way hes acting

  • 2:13

    Seriously legit fucking viking.

  • I like the concept of this sport but There is no way of telling whether ur opponent will be honest about taking a hit, the honor system is stupid and doesn't work.

This sport needs to create a killing system where you can easily tell whether ur opponent has taken a hit or not a little bit the way laser tag works.

  • 99% of the people talking shit on Dag would get thrashed on the field and run home crying.

  • Elf with a beard? Hell no!

  • LMFAO NO FUCKING WAY

  • @femoman

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind when I start up dagorhir at my school

  • I've never been to a dagorhir event, so I'm a tad bit confused by the debate, is the Rp for before or after the battle? At the feasts and the celebratory events, or do you just make the persona to get the adrenaline flowing? Again...never been to a battle, though am trying to.

  • @Eantrin It really depends on the person. Some people honestly get more into character at different times. I've never been to an inter-chapter event, but I'd imagine that I'd be the kind who stays in character during battle, and whenever another player comes by, unless we have a serious conversation.

It doesnt honestly matter, but it's more fun if you stay in character during the battles and during the parties. But if someone is trying to have a serious conversation, go OOC.

  • Ok heres the deal guys, LARP involves storylines, with scripted NPCs and a specific plot progression. Dagorhir has NONE of these. It is no more LARP than your average fencing match. The costumes and characters are a side thing to add a sense of being somewhere else. This combat eats most LARPs alive. To give you an idea, a member of my group is also a semi-pro football player...and he says we hit harder.. IF you want to lable it more than a battle game, youcould call it an combat based subculture

  • @SirRobertValcore

Hey Shawn? Dag is a LARP.

  • Comment removed

  • LARP live:actually being performed at the time of hearing or viewing action:something done roleplaying:acting a particular role. Some people find it hard to accept because many people who lack a degree of intellect call most larper's nerds but the truth is Dagorhir is a LARP. Though consider that is it is far more physically taxing than other LARP's and its social, encourages teamwork and does not use paper cones for magic. An elf he may play but a nerd he is not. we breed fun not nerds!

  • @supermanofmen "Give a dumbass his daily bread..."

  • @tattooloo lol ok. never thought of it like that

  • @supermanofmen

In halo you play the role of master cheif, in starcraft you play the role of jim raynor, I GUESS THOSE ARE RPGS!

  • @MickeyLBrown well. sure. you are playing the role of a super human marine. yeah in a way it is an rpg. fps rpg. but typicaly an rpg is a game where you advance in level or expierence and gain new abilties.

  • @supermanofmen An RPG is merely a game where you play a open ended role, in a fictional world, based on the concept of adventure and story advancement. Not all games are RPGs... StarCraft doesn't fit the build because the role you play is either too ambgious (StarCraft I) or too specific (StarCraft II) it is also a linear series of missions built off of squad level strategies and base building. Another example of a game that is not a RPG is Doom. Even though you play a specific role.

  • this is why amtgard is better. higher chick to dick ratio, and not as many flerbs

  • 0:43 the long haired guy that got beat down is my brother

plus ragnorak is bigger than badon hill, which is this

  • look at the shot at the last second of the video lol

  • @Hiben75

yup. them be my butt cheeks. Doesn't matter that my skit is between my legs.

  • @LordPutnaj That is why we have rules concerning hitting. In NL at least, and most of Europe I guess. Though Germans and Italians like to hit hard, but they also often wear a lot of armour.

Our weapons still look cooler :P. Besides, material for one sword costs around 30 euro's and the weapon will endure for years if made properly.

Your costumes are great but I still believe the cheap weapons don't look great with them.

European weapons are a compromise for real ones already but preferable

  • btw they only do that in summer right ?

we do it every sunday so..

  • @ThePeachCockTaiL Nope. Dagorhir is all year long. Some people hibernate during the winter and some of us diehards will fight in th snow (which is a lot of fun) or just find a spot to do it indoors ; )

  • we also do the rules (in LARP)

what they use like when your arm is hit then its gone to

    not ice arm shit 0_o

  • @nekomimime

    your damn right

btw im a larper to :)

  • okay. So they think this is not LARP?

it's hack 'n slash, so fightinh without a plot.

    pfffffff

I think this is LARP, sorry to all people there who think it's not.

(this is probably gonna get a lot of red thumb downs)

  • @nekomimime

It's a LARP. Especially at these big inter-realm events. If you're dressed up and are using a fictitious character name...then it's a LARP.

If you're just showing up to the park in your shorts, t-shirt and sneaks and are going by your real name, then it's no different than going to the local court and playing B-Ball with your friends, then it's not a LARP.

  • @tattooloo

I'm glad someone agrees with me

  • @nekomimime its just a diffrint style. theres no spells so i think its better than most other larping events.

  • @TonPappa

no spells doesn't change that it's LARP, as they say in this.

Maybe it is better. I have never been there, this is actually the first time I heard about it XD

  • @nekomimime any dagorhir fighter will agree this is not larp their is no magic or anytrhing like that its about the combat

  • I choose the Narnians, any day!

  • lol costume

  • Orks iz green! Green iz best!

  • Loved watching this. The costumes are really great and the fighting really neat, but my God please, switch to European style weapons which are better made, safer and look more realistic. Padded PVC tubing looks so awful.

American LARPers, take our example and get some glassfiber rods, quality foam, latex and find a European tutorial!

  • @TheRealTMar Unfortunately the cool looking Latex weapons the Europeans use don't have enough padding to swing all out with them, and aren't cost effective for as often as the average Dagorhir/Belegarth player goes through them. They aren't tap fighting like some LARPS, think Fight Club. "I want you to hit me as hard as you can."

  • This one has a....stabby tip on it!

  • Cool! What tent do they watch meatspin in?

  • I find it very funny that they claim not to like the term LARPing. "our fighting is more realistic" hehe - I know LARPs where the combat rules are pretty much the same as described in the video, but there you dont run around with half a mattress to your arm (which IMO looks terribly silly) And by thor those weapons look nerfy, i mean, is that much padding really necessary? See my videos on LARP weapons, thats how much padding you need.... or don't need.

  • @webkilla The real difference to me is that in LARP you put alot of acting into your charecter! In Dag its more like just having a nickname. Your right about combat basicly being the same, but i really think he ment the ones where people fling bags of birdseed at one another and call it a spell =/ i kind of find that silly.

  • @gaurdienshadow

so Dag is essetially just hack&slash? fair nuff. thats always easier to coordinate amongst hundreds of players.

  • @webkilla Yup! its more just "i want to fight a medieval battle with a fantasy name and outfit!" instead of "I want to live a fantasy story!"

  • @gaurdienshadow

As the green guy in the Video Mog they only use my last name bonecutta. let me tell you two things one combat is WAY different and some dag people put alot more into their characters then you seem to think.

  • @oldlonesomesong I wasnt trying to state that its the same, it's swords and you hit some one with them i was just giving a surface skimming explination, and alot of dag players dont put as much heart into their characters as you did. lol =]

  • Ahaha, I didn't see him on the TV airing but watching it here, I noticed my dad there at ~2:12 :P He introduced the guy to the Black Dogs he's fighting with.

  • To play dag to I have to build my own dag weapons or are latex larp weapons acceptable?

  • @allabtMando Latex LARP weapons are NOT allowed on a Dagorhir battlefield. But you don't have to build your own weapons. You can buy them pre-made.

  • @tattooloo Plasti dip weps are alowed but the striking surfaces must be covered in cloth.

  • It was meant as a sarcastic comment, lol.

I have no doubt that getting your ring is still a challenge, I can still remember the massive amounts of pushups.

  • I agree w/ Tmoney, I have been in Dagorhir for nearly 6 years now and I have never heard of Garby either.

    DIY for life.

  • @PuriaBestia it still really is hard to join bc (id guess they talked off camera for him to join for this video)

  • been in dag 3 years and only ever heard of Garby from this video. better and cheaper to make your own stuff

  • super win...

  • omg! the green elf guy with the blonde hair reminds me soooo much of david spade! lol

  • Everytime someone wants a explanation i link them here! thanks for posting!

    -Enyo of GTG

  • No Problema. Glad to hear there are people interested.

  • @tattooloo Yeah this video really puts dag. to a scale mere words cant match. I cant EXPLAIN how awesome it is to see dem orks but when i SHOWES DEM its bettah

  • Man, I remember back in the day, getting your ring with BC was so much harder.

  • they actually really still are (im guessing for the video he asked if they would let him in, off camera)

  • it still is that way (im assuming for the sake of shooting the video they talked off camera about it)

  • lol! "orks is green. green is best."

im making a t-shirt with that on it.

  • thank you but when I stole that I stole it from gamesworkshop.

    Mog Bonecutta

  • @oldlonesomesong Mog come back you mean green, made me feel bad.... i said "i gotta meet him" them i met you and you went to playing dark*n. ITS MY FAULT IM CURRSED!!! stupid witch for a mother.

  • @IamLolCat

Nah Im checking out darkon, but I am doing dag locally in philly and we started our own larp so its not your fault. I had a great time in dag

  • @oldlonesomesong

-sniffles- really? NOT my fault? It usually is:-P

  • @IamLolCat

and i had to change my youtube account. corsairking was me too lol

  • im in dag a relatively new team. you people need to allow catapults firing dodge balls covered in foam.

  • I do know some ppl who made dagorhir-legal ballistas and trebuchets. I'm guessing they do just launch nerf-balls, like what they use for the balls on morning-stars.

  • @theexiledyankee A dodgeball covered in foam huh? Going by the rules, every rock must be atleast four inches in diameter and weigh no more than twenty four ounces. When is the last time you have seen a dodgeball weigh that much?

  • @thefladaddy it would be a siege weapon they have special rules....

  • Is anybody here from eryndor? or related?

  • yes...Mithris is from Eryndor

  • No, i know that, i was just wondering if anybody that is POSTING comments is. Are you?

  • o sry...not yet, this coming january im gonna join...i know some1 in it, Noroko

  • 1:38 magnusss shield bash haha

  • Well he was successful in the bash. He did manage to move the other fighter, even if it was a half of a foot.

  • so do they bring their own weapons and armor?

  • @FrieLegos Yes. For the most part everyone makes or buys their own weapons and will bring it to the practices and battles. You can usually find someone that will loan you a weapon for the day but not armor.

  • oh cool. so if someone showed up in homemade cardbord armor, would he have the whole fiels against him? lol

  • @FrieLegos If yoo showed up to fight in cardboard armor people would probably think your joking and laugh at yoo. You wouldn't be allowed to fight in it. The only armor that yoo can legally wear onto the field is leather or metal (like chainmail).

  • lol ok then...so what about no armor? also is there a spesific type of shield that you can bring? or just anything you want?

  • some make their own, some have them made..some are extras for new comers

  • 1:55 funny.i so want to go to one. i think i might go to the practice thats coming up soon in New York.... i love this show... anybody know if its still on?

  • no unfortunatly its not

  • 3:35

    nice Dominus...

  • I agree however I never said Dagorhir wasn't a LARP just that Magic isn't used.

  • Whats the difference between dagorhir and LARP??

  • LARPs usually involve wielding magic weapons and throwing spell packets. In Dagorhir we don't do that we just fight...alot.

  • Dagorhir is just flat out beatings, whereas LARP has storylines, quests, things such.

  • Dagorhir isn't just about beatings! We teach all our new members about honor, sportsmanship, leadership, good morals, and if there is a person being a douche we teach him with "tough love".

  • @celticgaurdian1400 Have you taught anything to Dominus yet =P

  • Dominus of Rome? Never met him. Who are you? Have we met?

  • Freakin hilarious, its actually alot of fun, not everyone gets into the whole "character" thing, many "realms" and areas just fight :)

  • Awesome!

I do Dagorhir, I even saw some people I know!

  • Nice i LARP but not dagorhir but anyway i love live action games and i love doing nerdy things

  • it's a lot of fun, you should look into it

  • The cone is his ally.
