  • no popping on the decel ! great tune up.

  • all i got to say is, my ratrod truck is almost 40 years old, yes it has rust holes, dents and need a total sheet metal over haul, so thats my deffinition of a true rat rod, its had a very good running stock small block and yest its lowered, but its anot that ratted out

  • Rats have so much more character than traditional hotrods.

  • man sssiiiiccccckkkk very coool!!!

  • hey great vid. I have built many cars over the years and alway thought of them as being my hot rod. weather other people thought different or not. build for my self not others!!! hot rods are built from parts that are new, disgaurded, ect. if you dont like my car or truck tuff sh!t I likem.

  • Hey V8 go on to my channel look at my favorites and you will actually see many vids from the periods you profess to know more about than the people that were actually there ! I am going to be diplomatic about this because you are a deuce brother ,I have a chopped full fender'd 3w, so I will put it nicely (does your brain know what your mouth is saying ?)

  • v8deuce,My dad was drag racer/hot rodder/car club president (Cam Jammers circa 1954) there were tons of rods similar to this and I just happen to have original photos at the drags-Vargo-Hatfield-Atco and some burger joints. Most didn't have enough money for paint and mixed every can together, whatever color it was ugly or not it was it ! Cool chopped channeled and lots of motor work not much shiny and nothing much new. This rod is pretty much is the way it was my friend even better than most ! !

  • It's nice on the dyno, but I imagine this truck running wide open in the middle of the desert somewhere. Some desert rat driving this from his home to the bar 20 miles away and at 120 mph.

  • Those headers are freakin over-the-top.

  • what are the tires you have on the rear? Ive looed all over and cant find them.

  • @babydavid06 RADIR 15"x10"

  • I saw this car at the 09 Summer Nats. VERY NICE!! A sawed off double barrel shotgun for its gear banger! Would be a blast to cruise in.!

  • gas motors suck!!!

  • @ V8: The suppression of different ideas may be common in religion and politics but it is NOT the path to knowledge, and there is NO place for it in the pursuit of custom car building... so drop the attitude. To quote a closed-minded individual, "Thinking outside of the box is fine as long as what is being built has proportions". End quote... contradicting yourself twice in one sentence. I don't expect anyone who says something like that to understand why what they said was contradictory.

  • @StuPadazzo

You sound like an educated moron.

  • What stops cool air from warping the valves on exhaust like this, this engine probably has stainless valves but most hot rods and defently rat rods don't

  • how is this not traditional? back in the day hotroders used what the had or could get cheap to build something fast. now hotrodders pull out there check book and have something really nice made for them. so as long as it was built 99% by it's owner and is fast then thats as traditional as it gets. oh and there was no 10000 dollar paint jobs on hot rod's then either.

  • "How is that non traditional" Ok, , its simple, show me a car like this from the 40's,50's, or early 60's. Be sure to look in the old magazines from that time period . Go ahead, i'll wait.

  • it looks to me like torque thrust rims with white walls. a 1940's cab. a solid front axle and a v8 with a super charger. and i have seen exhaust like that on an old gasser. just because he did it differently than you would have doesn't make it a piece of shit. i bet if it had a full exhaust, a 10000 dollar paint job, and a hood you would think it was cool huh.

  • @V8Deuce While you are waiting, consider this: I am almost 64. When I was a kid in the 50's and 60's there were a few cars running the streets that weren't NICE enough for the magazines. People didn't build every car for a car show or a magazine like you have. I'm guessing. Fenderless cars weren't made for any reason except to be LIGHT which made them FAST. A 1200 pound, 300 horse coupe could kick the butt of anything on the street. Which is...after all...the point.

  • @oldmusher I know all about the history of the 40's, 50's, and 60's, and totally understand that not all cars were nice show cars. My point was/is that nothing looked like the piece of shit in this video. Nothing even close! This new fad of fenderless trucks needs to die fast !

  • @V8Deuce You dont know shit your just an ignorant dick! LoL

  • @jasongrillo Really !?!?!?!? ok, prove me wrong. Show me 1 single picture of a car that looked like this in the 40's or 50's - hell 60's for that matter. Prove me wrong. Give me the name of the publication, year and month that the issue is, and i'll stand corrected and then i'll admit to not knowing shit. Go ahead, i'm waiting...........

  • @V8Deuce there is plenty of old footage you can watch right here on youtube... or you could just listen to guys like oldmusher who were actually there

  • @jasongrillo B.S. old footage from when ? 2 years ago? I am talking about authentic Hot Rods (in any condition) from the 40's, 50's, or 60's . They DIDN'T exist - period. Like the Jesse James / OCC nonsense Chopper fad, this shitty Rat Rod phase of taking 40's & 50's truck cabs and building abortion rods out of them will soon die and you guys will be on to something else. I'll continue cruising my Deuce roadster with a 296 Flatty !

  • @jasongrillo Show me where! There was NOTHING like this shit built in the 40's,50's, or even 60's. This is a new fad of crap that will die in the near future. Again, i am asking you or anyone to prove me wrong. If you can show me websites, magazines, photographs, or You Tube videos of anything remotely close to this i'll eat my words and be off of this site - but fact of the matter is - you can't!

  • @V8Deuce Try to look up a vid "high and mighty gasser"

  • @itwhotrods Yeah, whats your point? That was an experimental race car campaigned by Mopar. I'm talking about post 1934 fenderless trucks.

  • @V8Deuce "A rat rod is a style of hot rod or custom car that, in most cases, imitates (or exaggerates) the early hot rods of the 40s, 50s, and 60s. It is not to be confused with the somewhat closely related "traditional" hot rod, which is an accurate re-creation or period-correct restoration of a hot rod from the same era." - Wikipedia. What are you so pissed about, someone in the neighborhood stealing your thunder in front of the kids?

  • @KenMacMillan Thats the incorrect Wikipedia definition but the original term meant something entirely different! And, many of todays bullshit magazines like Rebel Rodzzzzzzzzz and Ol Skool Rodzzzzzzzz call these cars "Old School" which they aren't . You've got to do a lot more than stick white walls on a car to make it "Old School"

  • @V8Deuce Then I didn't make myself clear: There were "ratty" cars cruising around in the 1950's. They had crappy drum brakes, worn out tie rod ends and every nickle spent went into the motor. They would fit the "rat rod" class at a car show now. If you look past the rust on most modern rat rods, you find much better brakes and steering. Lowering is done with spindles rather than torched springs. If you know all about the 40's, you must be about 85. Tell the nurse to get you more oxygen.

  • @oldmusher WELL SAID OLD MATE! I CANT STAND CLOSED MINDED, KNOW IT ALL BUT KNOW FUCK ALL PUNKS LIKE THIS DICK

  • @V8Deuce god its pieces of shit like you that are the reason most older cars are being crushed just because its not in fucking hot rod magazine doesn't mean its a piece of shit. rat rods such as the one in this video are art, and just because you don't like doesn't mean you need to go around talking shit its someone else's labor of love. good day you no good ass licking mother fucker

  • @bombchevy Freedom of speech.

  • Very good point. The only part that might be un-traditional is the v-8. I apreciate cars of ALL kinds (import guy, but I love domestics too!), but I do have to agree that it is a tiny bit untraditional as a high hp ratrod.

To me personally, I think it should come w/ a twin carb 6cyl like it most likely would have from the assembly line. Beautiful car none the less, but I prefer as close to 100% original as possible.

  • i see what your saying. but to me an all original rat rod is just an old car that rolled off the assemble line and then rusted. i personally like cars that have as much of there owners imagination in them as possible

  • non traditional my ass. this what our hot rodding forefathers built to go fast and and race on the weekends. do some research.

  • @V8Deuce lets see your ride Whats the title you would put on a gorge baris car? thinking out side the the BOX! I was tired of looking at cookie cutter deuces!

  • First of all , his name is spelled George Barris. But all of his early pioneering cars were new Kustoms (purposely spelled with a "K") . What he did in the 60's for the film industry was theme cars. Thinking outside of the box is fine as long as what is being built has proportions !

  • @V8Deuce traditional is the opposite original which is the best part of custom car building....people are getting bored of the same pristine paint jobs lined up in rows being polished by their equally boring owners LoL

  • I'm looking to run your ass

  • hey nice truck cause its mine, thank for posting the vid

  • pretty cool you found a vid of your own ride. I found one of my 04 gto as well. made my day and its on the car craft site as well. Nice ride.

  • What did your truck pull on the dyno?

  • 420 hp @4,300 rpm had to shut it down the fuel pressure dropped to 2#, on the motor dyno it was over 650hp @the crank

  • @itwhotrods what kind of power did it make

  • @69chevy350hp 420hp @ the rear wheels @ 4,000 rpm, the fuel presure droped to 2 psi and they shut it down. Hope to have it ready again this year

  • @itwhotrods In that case can you let me know what it dyno'd at?

  • @nickandapple In 09 there was a fuel problem it was420 hp@4,300 rpm and 140 mph, in 2010 it was 527 hp

  • @itwhotrods I'll bet its fun as hell to drive :)

  • totally awesome
