Beautiful....Nice movers! And people who are bashing.. Shut up... Unless you've shown these animals please.... If you don't have something noce to say don't say it.
holy cow, those horses looked so uncomfortable cantering on those elongated shoes..owwie, they may 'help' with the flat or running walk but any other gait and it unbalances them completely.
People that own a horse do have a right to say what they think. I own a pleasure Tennessee Walking horse which has no pads. I think that people will do whatever they want with there horse. I know that they are sored because I put just the regular chains on my horse without pads or chemicals on it and it does not move like a so called "Big Lick" horse. I think that people do what they want and I cannot stop it. However if my horse dosnt move like that then what are you doing that I'm not.
unless you know a lot about this breed, you have no right sayin things about soring...something you dont know noyhing about...my daddys a trainer and i have been into these a LONG time.you cant judge a breed or its trainers by one video.these are wonderful athletes.
If you dont own or ride a padded horse...you have no right to comment...Im a owner and trainer of 47 of these beauties... They arent sored or presured to do anything. Its people like you causing our industry to be critasized.
AGREEING...when you have a bond with a horse like this its amazing...after a win and you take you lap and you ask more of him and he pricks his ears and digs down deep...its the most amazing ride!!! and he loves it too.
Riding a padded TWH is a ride like no other. Much smoother than a trot. To the ones bashing this remarkable breed and these magnificent show horses, unless you've been in a barn and around a show, your opinion is uneducated and useless. So just don't comment.
People need to understand that not all these horse are sored also if the judges didn't judge on massive lick horses, trainers and owners wouldn't be tempted to hurt their horse to get the judge to look at it.
I do not condone the act but when in a competition, do we as human beings not try everything to get the upper edge because we are taught that is what judges look for? ie. steroids?
German Shepherds? I have top show GSD's and they are not sored, in pain, and made to wear items that hurt them - Please don't compare the dogs to this terrible tragedy of pain. Every breeder I know and deal with would never hurt their babies like this and our dogs live long healthy pampered lives thank you very much! I do know that these poor horses live many less years because of this garbage- their bodies can't handle it! Not my TWH's and CERTAINLY not my GSD's either.
They do resemble the GSD's in the way that they move with their hocks coming way up underneath them like that. Don't get me wrong. GSD's and TWH's are an awesome breed and they don't deserve to be in pain and suffering.
Most show well into their late teens with several in their 20's still showing. Just like any other horse with shoes, proper hoof care and regular shoeing is all they need. The pads do nothing to hurt their feet or overall health. They are wel maintained atheletes and luve LONG lives.
Maybe your horse was not one of the 5% of TWH whose good enough to have pads on them.

Wonderful video. To ride a "big lick" walker is a real thrill -- nothing else like it in the world. You will never want to trot again!
