@flubno I don't know where you get your information from, but Criollo is not a mix. Criollo is the word for a native born White person in Latin America. By the old Casta system of Latin America, Criollo was a White person, but could have up to 1/8th Native American and still be classified as Criollo. But Criollo was usually the name for a native born full White person. Also, Mestizo only means White/Native American mix in Latin America and Spain, nothing else. I'm 100% sure of this.

@IslenoGutierrez In Spain , Criollo was a person who was barely mixed. Something the Spanish would consider a brother, even though they weren't 100%. Due to some mixing with the Moors, Visigoths, Gypsies. They brought this idea to the new world & used it for people who had a sprinkle if Native Am. in them. later on the Spaniards down graded the pure Europeans in the new world to Criollo's because they developed a different culture. They kinda viewed them as hill billy's, witch pissed people off.

@flubno That is a 100% made up story by you. That is NOT how Criollo came to be. The word Criollo wasn't used in Spain. Criollo came from the Portuguese Crioulo from the word criar, before the colonization in America, the Portuguese on the West African coast began to use the word to refer to Portuguese born in West Africa as opposed to Portugal. The Spanish copied the word usage and used it in the conquest of the Americas and applied it to the Casta system. It meant local born unmixed European.

@IslenoGutierrez (cont.) Criollo meant light mixed, them became a badge of honor when the Whites got down graded in the new world. It became like a white pride word. The french in Louisiana kinda liked the Spanish caste system and adopted the word Criollo, but changed it to Creole. Saying you were Creole used to mean you were proud to be white. Then the blacks got hold of it and started to call themselves Creole. Witch is weird, most don't know it was originally a word to describe white people.
