Nope, I actually am having the rod rebuilt with the same number of guides, but they will be Fuji lowriders. The smaller diameter guides are what you need for fishing for sharks and other large fish (100+lbs) from the beach. Smaller guides keep the line closer to the blank and allow the bend in the blank to fight the fish. Every surf rod I have owned with large diameter "spinning" guides has snapped either between the guides or at the connection.
