  • So you just hooked up the gamecube component cables from the gamecube to your hdtv? Simple as that? No matter what I do I can't seem to make my gamecube look good on my Sony Bravia (has no S video ports :/) I honestly wanna spring for the components because I have never played wind waker and I wanna play twilight princess on gamecube as it was intended

  • @jborrelli34 he did, but you need to select progressive scan for 480p, make sure your tv has the Red Blue and Green input as well.

  • I have seen these cables, (japanese official ones) but they only seem to have the 3 video output connections, but no audio, what did you do to get the audio?

  • @DakkoX Use normal composite cables that comes with the cube (yellow, red, white) for the non "digital" output and connect the red and white for audio.

  • That's the only issue with high definition on older consoles, though. It actually exposes flaws. The Dreamcast VGA box does the same thing.

  • how do they work, from the pictures iv seen they only have 3 prongs, but other component cables have 5? how does it work?

  • The price of component cable for gamecube is TOO DAMN HIGH!!

  • Thanks for posting the answer to my question. I am thinking about getting an hd cable .I hooked up to my hd tv my gamecube games look dark and blah. I was wondering if the cable would be worth it. I think may be :).

  • why can't there be a game like this on wii

  • On what TV size did you play this? Does it look as sharp as the video you posted?

  • Wthat software you used to record it?

  • What did you use to record the gameplay?

  • @deadhand2790 Hauppauge HD PVR

  • @Burbruee Ah, thanks. Where did you get it?

  • @deadhand2790 I live in Sweden and got it from a local store.. so can't really help you out if you live in the US, sorry.

  • @Burbruee No big deal, I'm sure I could get it at my local electronics store or Amazon, I've seen it in both places. Thanks for the quick replies.

  • @Burbruee In sweden???

Please tell me where! I live there.

    Säg var snällaaaaaa !

  • @aalex37 Komponentkabeln?

  • @Burbruee

    Bra :D då vet jag.

Fast jag menade HD PVR paketet... Eller vad man nu ska säga.

    Skulle vilja ha en HDPVR...

  • @aalex37 Köpte min på inet!

  • @Burbruee So how much did you pay for your Gamecube Component Cable? I'm not really worried about a Gamecube Component Cable considering the Wii is backward compatible with Gamecube games and I have a Wii Component Cable that gives me the same result as using a Gamecube Component Cable on a Gamecube and I don't have to hold the B button on the Gamecube Controller since it's automatic on the Wii console when playing Gamecube games.

  • @loomp Gamecube component cables are going for about 100 now. You can get a used Wii for that and get the same. However, I once tested Super Smash Bros Melee on a Wii with 480p enabled through component cables on an LCD TV, and there was clearly lag (about 5 frames -- 80 ms); too much for competitive play. I don't know whether this is due to the TV or the Wii's graphics processing, but be warned -- FBAS (composite), RGB and S-Video are faster on CRTs than Component on flatscreen tvs.

  • @Kadano1 I have never had any lag from Super Smash Bros Melee on a Wii or any other Gamecube games and I'm using an Insignia HDTV and official Nintendo brand Wii component cables, so the issue may be your TV or you are using really crappy off-brand Wii component cables. I do want to point out that not all Gamecube games support 480 progressive scan (check your labels) and only use 480i. WiiU will have HD and support old Wii games but not Gamecube just like the new black Wii out now.

  • @deadhand2790 you can get them from best buy

  • A lot of you can get a Wii for super cheap now, and the cables for them or the multi ones are not very much. That's a good route to go, "IMO".

  • Holy crap it's impossible to find these cables now for under $100.

  • your right. sorry i got some wrong information, i did infact buy the right one, it is the DOL-001 is the one with the AV digital out :)!

  • correction i wrote that it was the DOL-001 that had the digital Av out, but it was the DOL-101! wiki pedia said it was the DOL-001, but Nintendo web site says DOL-101,

which means i just bought the wrong model!!!!! dam you wiki!!! dam you!!!

  • @SuperJamesus Huh. My gamecube is DOL-001 and it has the digital av out. DOL-101 does NOT have the output.

  • i just bought the gamecube model with the digital out, its DOL-001, so i can get 480p, what cable did you use and where can i get it ;)

    thanks for the vid. :)

    james

  • I had a 480p gamecube....then it died >.<

  • the sound seems to be a few seconds out of sync =(

  • Where could I find a Gamecube Component cable, because luckily I got a used Gamecube that has the Digital AV port(VERY RARE NOWADAYS),because I really want the cable for when I got over to others homes with HDTV's i can upscale it to HD(480p)

  • I just got the component cable also, and I'm very impressed by the difference it made. Things that were once blurry and now crystal clear. I was unable to play OoT (Zelda collector's edition disc) on my HDTV because it looked terrible, but now it looks great.

I paid $50 USD and it was worth it. Being these cables were $30 from Nintendo of America when they were available, an extra $20 isn't that big of a deal.

  • I always found PAL Gamecube games looked siginificantly better in 60 Hz as this got rid of the jagged edges prominent in so many PAL conversions. Plus buying an RGB scart cable made a massive difference compared to the seven pin scart supplied with the console. The first time I played Super Mario Sunshine it looked no better then how my N64 use too look through the aerial socket, but then I upgraded the cable and was amazed at how detailed the water effects were.

  • Amazing graphic, amazing game, amazing series, amazing Link, amazing Zelda, amazing Nintendo.

  • Very nice. I'm in the UK so I just import GC games now cause PAL GC games can't support 480p. I use my Wii however. A GC Component Cable... damn, that must've cost you. =P

  • OMG that looks gorgeous!

  • @darkragnarok21 Got it from ebay for 60 USD + 13 USD international shipping. Totally worth it though. Yes, I'm using the Hauppauge HD PVR to record this. As I'm european our gamecubes don't support s-video at all, so the best I could get before while recording was composite which was really bad looking, blurry and bad colors floating together. Now it's crystal sharp. (I promised myself I wouldn't play games such as Metroid Prime until I had a component cable, now finally I will play it. ^_^)

  • @Burbruee Does it look good even on non progressive scan games?

  • @darkragnarok21 It still looks just as sharp, it's just that there are some very noticable jagged lines and interlacing going on. With progressive scan there is nothing like that. (and also you get 59.94 fps instead of 29.97)
