You guys are blind, the core story is centred around advertising, utilising a golden era, and sponsored by alcohol companies TODAY. I don't know if any of that is true, but I'm gonna keep spreading it. Fantastic.
i was a kid in the sixties, i was the little barman at my folks' saturday night parties pouring drinks, making ice cubes, emptying ashtrays, running up to the store to get chips and smokes ..yeah they put us to work early then LOL!
haha you guys missed the scene where Don's daughter Sally had to stay at the office and she fell asleep on the couch and a bottle of alcohol fell from the couch when he picked her up. lol HILARIOUS that everyone in the show pretended like that didn't happen.
@sacita3590 freddy rumsen's drinking caused him to have kidney problems... leading to the incontinence... so yes, it does go with the theme of drinking alcohol
@loblollies Oh, ok. Thanks for clearing that up. I just started watching Mad Men from season 1 & I havnt gotten up to that part yet so thanks for spoiling it lol
@BarryDennen12 Very weak tea, water dyed with food coloring, water, and non alcoholic beer. In case your wondering the cigarettes smoked on Mad Men aren't real either. Actors smoke non addictive yet highly carcinogenic herbal cigarettes. Over the course of several takes actors would become to drunk or jittery to perform if real drugs were used, even a sugar rush from eating too many sweets can cause problems for actors.
hey guys im from Brazil, i'd like to know if is it or was normal to drink at work in America, i know not as much as those people in this show, but at least a little bit, i've seen it in other movies, if not now but at least back then, is/was it normal?
@joaoluizsn Back in that time period, yes. These days when you get hired you sign a zero tolerance policy that says you won't use alcohol during work hours.
@meh97 yea... better except if you were black, Jewish, disabled, gay or a woman. Plus that's the opposite of what the show is constantly pointing at. It's calling bull on the notion that it was 'better' back then when it was only really better for white guys.
The part when Roger puts vodka in his milk is when I about puked.

So what do they actually drink on the show? Iced tea or what?
BarryDennen12 7 months ago
@BarryDennen12 Usually. Sometimes water too, Roger usually mixes some water with a glass of milk. Oh, and wine with dinner on weekends.
Obviously not at work.
