These guys are playing a free outdoor show in SLC Utah this Thursday. I am so excited to see them pour their souls out onto the stage. If you can make it you should. Pioneer Park on the corner of 4th West and 4th South, gate's @ 5, show @ 7. This is going to be one of the hilights of my Summer for sure.
holy christ, that was amazing. It manages to sound so calm but intense and if look at the body language theres a story being told just by their choreography. The best thing i have ever seen on youtube.
I just realized how amazing the end crescendo is in this song not that long ago. It's maybe one of the most beautiful things I've ever listened to. The Earth is not a Cold Dead Place is an excellent album...
I hope, someday, that my band realizes how much better and untouched Instrumental Post-Rock is . All they want to play is heavy electric guitar work and lame bass lines.
Explosions in the Sky are better than music. Music is something you hear and feel, Explosions in the Sky is an experience, there is literally nothing that compares. I love post-rock and all, don't get me wrong, but no one comes even close to their ability to convey an idea and a feeling through the power of atmospheric music. To catagorize them is to limit them and that's just wrong. I don't throw in an EITS cd when I want to hear good music, I throw in an EITS cd when I want to have a good day
This maybe be the most satisfying 9 and a half minutes on the internet. I wish I could bottle the feeling this shit gives me. It would be worth millions.
Um....yeah.....It's ok, being a musician I tend to be more critical I guess. I like it, though it doesn't give me goosebumps. I think I need to hear some more of their stuff. I'm more of a metal head so this is a stretch f/ me..lol. But cool, not bad. I definitely don't hate it.
@axefan01 if you want goosbumps and to have your mind blown listen to tool. but explosions in the sky is so chill, i love sleeping to it. but it is also beautifully chaotic yet peaceful. especially the song "greet death" you should check out that song greet death if you are a metal head.
@axefan01 this record played live or from the vinyl on a nice soundsystem is amazing. Youtube just does it no justice. I saw them with a friend for the first time without knowing anything about them.. no name, no prior listening, nothing but a ticket. I walked out of the speechless and stunned. Literally have never seen anything like it and i'm a music producer by trade. Just go see them live and forget everything else.

I haven't really had the best relationship with anybody in my family...my mom, my dad, even my little brother, I have never had any connection...especially with my dad...we've had alot of arguments in the last few days...and i've said some things i regret saying to him...but the thing is, when i hear post rock music by explosions in the sky, i just lose everything...i just dose off...everything just feels better...thank you Explosions In The Sky. You have helped me through alot of things.
I listened to this when i was driving across utah at night. It fit perfectly with the night sky lit up with more stars than i have ever seen anywhere else
I fell asleep in class once whilst listen to this song on my ipod, I ended up having a lucid dream, and I was flying while hearing this song, seriously one of the most incredible feelings ive ever felt.
There is so much potential for this band to come across as wanky and pretentious, but it never happens. Their music is humble and beautiful, and it's just four guys sharing their soundscapes with an audience. I love them
@hedkandigirl It's the same for me. This song always makes me feel better. And their song "first breath after coma" is the first song I put on every morning, can't imagine a better way to start the day.
i love!!! ""explosions in the sky"" they are my ispiration, im from mexico, i work a project how this... never nobody how your, my english its bad, sorry!!

Im a 19 year old guy, and I may sound like a pussy but I cried my ass off. Im so fucking sad right now I dont know what to do. This soothes the soul a little and numbs my pain for 9 minutes and 34 seconds. I appreciate it.

@JimmyPage97 i saved the lives of Lee Harvey Oswald, Lee Lee Sobieski, and Robert E Lee. the father the son and the holy ghost. I can do or not do whatever I want now...I will NOT give you thumbs up
@JimmyPage97 Thumbs up if you like birdhaldol (birdhaldol is a jaded IRA reject working black budget DOD contracts in places...like really sordid strip joints). Led Zeppelin shared whores with him in 1976 when he was chosen to hold top secret at only age 14.
@birdhaldol This is a common case of distress/projection. Your self conscious person is in clear disrepair.... having issues coping with the harsh harsh worlds of the civilized internet.

the first time i heard this band I actually cried. I remember it perfectly. I was sitting in the back of a 15 passenger van filled with people. it was raining outside and was night. i was far away from home.... i had just left home for a 9 month stint. I just stared out the window and my entire life replayed in front of me. all 18 years. friends i had known. things i had done, dreams i had, girls i had loved, and it was all surrounded by this awe of the future. it was scary, and beautiful
right at 5:00 i imagine myself watching the sun rise over the mountains in colorado, and i feel like i could just stand and watch it forever and would be fine
When i watch a live video of any post rock band in youtube, i read comments. Then realize that there is something pure in those comments. There is a mystery in post rock that makes the light within shine. The only time i think positive about humanity when i listen post-rock.
most passionate band in the world. you can see that they really love what there doing. they dont do it just for the look. they bring beautiful music to a sad world.... the world would love again if everyone got a chance to listen to them...... best band in the world....
@DerickAthill the only other band i got so hooked on is king crimson when i was 9. i have inside info they are hooked on lsd-25. they are warlocks. they share their groupies with 13 year olds. for example, that israeli spCIAl agent chick on NCIS. i am 13. what kind of guitars are those? i am more into the martial arts than music.
They really do seem like the epitome of 'beautiful' music, it's subtle, atmospheric, emotional, all that I'd want from music. Not to mention, I dunno, I relate to it, the song title made me think of something that had happened to me recently, and thankfully there are no words there to prove me wrong, I can still relate...
chris' drumming is quite possibly the greatest thing i've ever seen. the way he hit's those cymbals is almost surreal. he put's so much passion in his drumming.
i love these guys and their music, but every time i listen to their music something bad happens in my life. Listened to them for the first time and then my dog died shortly after. Lost my girlfriend after listening to them and now lost another girlfriend that i have had for a year and a half and also lost a friend who was over in afghanistan. So sadly i am afraid to listen.
Parents divorced, lived alone with my mom who was going trough a depression for years. We ended up loosing our house and actually had to spend a night outside in the winter. Lived on myself since i was 17, worked full-time to pay for my own education, and still have to work my ass of after school to pay my rent. My girlfriend who has been my first and only love, decided to end our relationship after 5 years a few weeks ago... No matter how alone i feel, i always find comfort listening to EITS
Shhhhhh, Guys... Listen. :)

When i watch a live video of any post rock band in youtube, i read comments. Then realize that there is something pure in those comments. There is a mystery in post rock that makes the light within shine. The only time i think positive about humanity when i listen post-rock.

I saw them in Birmingham in 2007. Changed my life.

most passionate band in the world. you can see that they really love what there doing. they dont do it just for the look. they bring beautiful music to a sad world.... the world would love again if everyone got a chance to listen to them...... best band in the world....

I love the energy that radiates from their music, it speaks to me. It's mystical, oddly refreshing and unique. These men are lords of 'deep sound'.

i love these guys and their music, but every time i listen to their music something bad happens in my life.
