I love Paul's voice, but Eric had an amazing range. He could harmonize, yet he could sing with such power and energy. This is my FAVORITE KISS lineup in the bands history....Stanley, Simmons, Frehley and Carr. I would love to have seen how far this lineup could have gone had things been different. This is also my favorite version of this song. No matter who sings this song, Eric Carr claimed it right here and OWNED it.
I agree that STANLEY-SIMMONS-FREHLEY-CARR was by far the best KISS lineup. Eric's faster and more aggressive style of drumming gave KISS songs a real kick in the ass. And from what I've heard Eric was a better influence on Ace than Peter was. None of this "let's leave and start a solo career" nonsense from Eric.
The only thing with Eric is that he joined KISS in the '80s....and that particular decade wasn't exactly their best (musically) by a long shot (except for CREATURES OF THE NIGHT).
I think the whole Eric vs Peter lies in their drumming. I like Peter better because his drumming style is more rhythmic and his voice is just awesome. Again, drumming isn't about double bass and playing fast.

By waiting for Ace to leave the band, it would then appear that it was their idea instead. In Gene and Paul's minds, they have to be in control and Ace was always a threat to them. It doesn't matter because they fooled no one. If you ask most fans, they all know that Ace Frehley was the reason KISS rocked.

I doubt there is. But is there a version of Eric Carr singing Black Diamond on any KISS album? All the ones that I own seem to have Peter Criss singing it. But I would love to have a version of Eric Carr singing it.
@LoveThatPhantom KISS never recorded Black Diamond with Eric Carr singing it, he died before he had a chance to recorded it I think. It's either that or Gene and Paul didn't want to record him singing it. Hope this helps^^

Eric is a great drummer and singer, no doubt about it. But in my honest and humble opinion, Peter just sings and drums better. There is something about Peter's drumming and voice which is more sharp and metallic than Eric's seemingly muffled drumming and voice. Eric is my second favorite drummer but Peter is number one. Thats just my opinion however. It could be because I heard of Peter first and that he was the beginning drummer.
@AlmostHuman3 Eric would hit the drums way harder than Peter ever did, Peter was a jazz drummer more than a rock drummer. but i do love peter and all the great members that Kiss has had.
@kjelsrud1982 very good albums, i own all but 3 kiss albums and have to say i love Alive 3 and Revenge. but i was a huge Eric Carr fan, the way he would bang on those drums was so amazing and to me played with more heart than Peter or Eric Singer. Although i do love Eric Singer and saw KISS in concert last year.

@kjelsrud1982 very good albums, i own all but 3 kiss albums and have to say i love Alive 3 and Revenge. but i was a huge Eric Carr fan, the way he would bang on those drums was so amazing and to me played with more heart than Peter or Eric Singer. Although i do love Eric Singer and saw KISS in concert last year.

This is my favourite version of Black Diamond.
Eric Carr is by far my favourite KISS drummer, although I love Singer and Criss too.
RIP ERIC CARR.

@LuciferChapel1987 Yeah, I Feel that Eric Carr was the Best Drummer but his Voice for me doesn't feel right as Peter Criss was Classic and Eric SInger's has a Tone or Flow to it! RIP Eric Carr! I Like Peter Criss's Live Black Diamond Better!
