Thanks for posting this great Bruce Springsteen classic. The sheet music for Roy Bittan's wonderful piano part on "Born To Run" can be found at manymidi.com/sheetmusic.htm - a note-for-note transcription.
well maybe not in this clip...however in several other born in the usa clips bruce tears the guitar up...and quite well!! ive seen him 3 times in concert and every concert was a treat to say the least!! he drives the rythms like no other....and like tommy says...he's got nils and miami steve to power his back section!! rock on bruce!!
All those people bitching about his guitar playing, trust me, he can play quite good. But when he performs he isn't there to act all cool with his guitar skills, like your "Andy". He is there to rock the house and have fun. Steve an Nils are busy with their guitars, bruce main focus is to give the audience a great show.
honestly who cares how good of a guitarist he is... he's one of the greatest writers in history... he can lay off a little if he wants to... though yes he's no clapton but he's better than most people
yes, one of the greatest songwriters of his generation is not musically talented. And i suppose you think some guitar wankfest like Steve Vai is more talented do you? Being technically proficient is not the same as being musically talented.
I was expecting to hear this song in the SuperBowl. Now I know why he didn't play it... He's still the boss and still put on a kickass Halftime show. Rock on!
@Ericarellano That's what I thought, I thought there was no way he was going to leave out Born In The U.S.A. but he did, and I didn't really mind cause it was still amazing. Heard him play this live at the last Philadelphia show, he played entire album. He is the BOSS.
Bruce may not be an amazing guitarist but he's an amazing song writer and a good showman, how can you say that Nils Lofgren isn't talented he's been touring since he was 17 years old... and Clearance Clemmons by the the best rock sax player of all time... Roy Bittan is amazing behind the piano just go watch the clip of the band playing mountain of love in St. Louis, and Little Steven? listen to the solo in jungleland... and Danny Fredicci (RIP) the best rock organist of all time... listen more
His lower register is still well intact. You can hear his trademark voice when he goes "I was born now!" during the chorus. Considering he's 58-59 here he doesn't sound too bad screaming it out like he did when he was younger, and I'm not even much of Springsteen fan.

I guess this is how he's gonna sound once he performs in the SuperBowl in Feb. And I'm sure he'll be singing this song in the Halftime Show.
