Maybe it's that they are acutally husband and wife, but this sounds so, so real. That can bring out all of the sense and musicality of the piece and the voice quality of both of them.

@avellanedam I think he's a really good musician. In an interview I saw somewhere the interviewer, out of the blue, asked her who had most influenced her growth.  She, for a moment seemed confused about how to answer such a question requiring that she leave out a lot of people who had been helpful to her. In seconds she recovered and said something to the effect that several conductors had helped her, but probably mostly Laurent "because he is an excellent musician and is around all the time".

This duet is maybe the thing I like best about the whole Oratorio. Dessay seems to be having a really good time. If I ever saw anybody on top of what they are doing, she sure seems that way.
