  • Oh yeah, and guys, seriously, your own opinions and thoughts and beliefs will be valued in any good learning environment. And after all studying a degree like that is largely studying a science degree which is about empowering you with the knowledge to make your own judgements!

  • Yes guys, I went back to school a semester ago, I now study Nutritional Medicine at Endeavour College of Natural Health here in Perth, Western Australia. Before this I was studying Literary and Cultural Studies (a writing course) which I still intend to complete. All the best!

  • How great for the both of you.

  • quackwatch's "Where To Get Professional Nutrition Advice" doesn't list the AANC as a credible nutrition certification

It may be harder to get, but accreditation from a recognized organization body could be better in the long run ( ASN, ABPNS, CNS, etc)

  • SOOO inspiring. thank you for sharing!

  • I think that you will lend a lot of credibility to yourselves and I know you are both smart enough to refrain from becoming carnivores. Not that I would judge you if you did.

If you learn a bunch of garbage you will just tell us what to watch out for and you will still have a better show for it!

Congratulations!!! Nothing bad ever came out of the pursuit of education and I'm glad for you both that you decided to improve yours. Take down the establishment from the inside, lol.

  • The only probelm I see is that the school system, teaches the party line and will go against everything you believe about nutrition now. The dairy and meat industry supports them and will beat into your head how great for you milk and dead flesh is. I love to show support but in this case I see nothing good from this.

  • awesome, Ive been struggling with this idea too.

  • I have gone back to school for mechanical engineering. I think it's great that the two of you are going back to school! I totally understand the reason for getting a degree for "self serving purposes." Realistically though a degree in the hard sciences does bring a kind of validation that will reassure people.

  • that is so great I'm excited for your decision- best to you in your education walk!

  • Thanks for sharing this!!! I have been thinking about going back to school for a while, possibly for homeopathy or herbal medicine (I have A BFA in painting!!) but I live in the Virgin Islands and the University here has very selective courses. Thanks for the info :-)

  • Get pregnant already!!!! For goodness sakes how do you expect to change the world if you dont plant your seeds???

  • That's great guys!

  • NO I haven't gone back, but I would LOVE to. It's always the same reason...kids and lack of funds LOL

  • *jealous* !!!

  • congrats togather you guys can do lot of good

  • i have a degree in applied sciences and have gone back for biochemistry degree and double with another degree in engineering. your work is excellent and greatly appreciated by us all.

  • @chaosman192

What will you do with a biochemistry degree?

  • @ebutuoy88 Research

  • @chaosman192 as a graduate student? Or can you actually do research with just a degree?

  • @ebutuoy88 You can help do some research with a B.S. but it is generally low level. You need to be at graduate level, though. But you can still do your own research even without having a B.S., just a third year student. So much happens in the labs at Universities.

  • @chaosman192

Okay, so you can do research while getting your B.S. But what about afterwards? Do you have to get a graduate degree to continue research?

  • @ebutuoy88 The research would be assisting professors in the lab more than anything. If you want to work in a lab for a company, it usually requires more than a B.S. especially if you want to contribute to the direction the research goes. Also, you can get a B. of Arts in this but the classes are somewhat less rigorous.

  • Yes, since I've started my healthfood journey, I decided I'm going to get my certification in holistic healthcare (in this program I get nutrition/herbology and A&P, but I also want to do an iridology and sclera course as well.

  • you two keep moving forward ! Very refreshing and inspirational!

  • I'm in school to become a RD and am SOOOO proud of you both for going back and doing this! Yay!

  • just finished college, spent a lot, cant get a job, more than likely would only go back if employer paid for it. going to barnes & noble is much cheaper in the long run.

  • I'm in school getting my masters of science in Human Environmental Sciences online at the University of Alabama.

  • kevin - your website is down =(

  • I have been thinking about going back to school quite a bit. I learned so much out of school that seems so fundamental that is not taught that I've been pretty happy with what I've learned, it would be awesome to know all of what the western scientists think they know to be able to talk with them, but maybe more important to learn how to get skeptics to eat fruits and vegetables

  • way to go!

  • I got my certificate for master herbalist 6 years ago through the Global College of Natural Medicine distance learning out of California . Is this the same school? They are an awesome school! I am now a full-time distance learning student going for my BS in Alternative Medicine through Everglades University in Boca Raton, FL.

  • “Dietitian is to nutritionist as dentist is to toothiologist”

    - Dara O Briain (comedian)

  • I wouldn't trust an unaccredited 'school' that promotes homeopathy.

Everyone should read the Science Based Medicine blog article "It sounds so 'nutritionous'" about the difference between clinical nutritionists and dietitians.

  • medine?

  • I'm starting school on July 28th for my BS in Nutrition Science. Good luck to you guys and everyone else with school.

  • Fantastic!, Congratulations on your decision.

I am sure we will all benefit greatly from this.

Keep up the great work, .

and good luck to you both.

    :-) Jodi

  • I'm in school! I graduate in May and begin grad school next September!

  • I am planning to go back to school after my children are all in high school. I want to be a naturopathic doctor. My father is an inspiration to me, he's 60 and just became a nurse practitioner!

  • I start school in September. I'll be getting my Bachelor's in Nutrition Science! I've been sharing all that I've learned about nutrition w/ others but they don't take me seriously because I don't have my degree. Just wait until I have that BS degree! :) lol

  • just wanted to let you guys know you rock, and if you ever split up, i would love to have a raw dinner with annmarie....haha, i'm sure kevin hears this from all the guys!

  • Smart move, guys. Good luck.

  • Just checked the website :) This sounds like my kind of stuff!!! If I could go back in time, I would definitely choose a program like that instead of a 10-year-long and out-of-price clinical psychology program :) You will do great!!! You are already providing us with incredible amounts of valuable information...Thank you soooo much for sharing your passion :)

  • Good luck! You are going to love your course. I am a registered holistic nutrionist and I loved every minute of it.

  • I also think it is never too late to go back to school!!! I actually am back in school...I have to say it is getting really tough, because it just seems never ending. My only regret is that, instead of going for the alternative program I really wanted, I chose the fully accredited and conventional program. I am now getting to the end of my doctorate in clinical psychology...a bit frustrated that I am not learning what I truly am interested in...but will feel much better once I get my diploma :)

  • Congratulations to you both ! Lots of luck !

  • I went back to college when I turned 30. It's never too late.

  • I have been going through the same battle, searching for right school. I have made up my mind and will take the 1 year course at the Institute of Holistic Nutrition. I just can't afford it lol. With books and everything it's almost 8 grand. I am starting work monday as a window cleaner to save up as much as I can since OSAP doesn't cover it and I have noone to co sign on a loan. Important thing is I made up my mind to take this course and I will find a way eventually.

  • good for you guys! I'm really glad for you two! I live in CA and am planning on going back to school as well (didn't finish college). Was going to get my medical degree (doctor of osteopathy) but I don't know if I have enough patience for that.. I'm spending my 20s running my own business, investing, basically making a lot of money so that I can freely spend the rest of my life doing something that I'm absolutely passionate about.. Definitely going into health and permaculture. So excited!

  • Yeah! Glad you guys finally did this... I remember talking with you about this awhile ago! Institute for Integrative Nutrition is going really great for me too, but I may do a program like this because they don't do quite as much clinical stuff/pathology etc....

CONGRATS... and by the way... as always... Me & Rick were hoping you'd say you were pregnant! LOL

  • I'm still in high school, if that counts. :P

  • WISH I COULD HAVE HEARD THIS VIDEO BETTER BECAUSE THE RECORDING WAS TALKING OVER THE OTHER.

  • Hmmm I think you may have just found for me the school I've been looking for. Thanks!

  • I'm currently in school for the first time :)......in a non health related field. even though i spend my free time reading about health.

  • Yay and congratulations to my most favorite couple on youtube!

  • Yes, I going back to school Accupuncture and Chinese Medicine next month.

  • I'm 25 years old and going back to school as well. You guys were a HUGE inspiration for that. I wanna change the health of the world too and I only get one shot at life so why the heck not! lol

  • Getting a degree in the health field can only help you help others. In many states, you can't give health advice without a degree and state licensing. A nutrition degree is great, but how will learning proper nutrition challenge/battle your veganism? Also, know that it is not a doctorate degree like the one for naturopathy. You are allowed by law to do much more as a doctor/doctorate degree. i myself hold several degrees with one being a doctorate in musculoskeletal medicine.

    Good luck!

  • is this an accredited program?

  • @MovementAsPrayer I would find it hard to believe that a school teaching how to use "chi for healing" would have any accreditations.

  • "Back to school! back to school! To proof to daddy that i'm not a fool! " LOL, this comes from the adam sandler movie "Billy Madison". If you're going back to school you must see this one it's really hilarious and has somewhat a message in it...

I love it that you take it seriously and love to learn from you guy's!

It wil give you guys more punch just like it did for me. Hopefully it will be a hard course! That will make you stronger!

  • Congrats! I've been thinking about switching my major to health too. I wish both of you the best on your future.

  • Wow, congrats guys :)

  • Was spelling required to go back to school?? Title: California College of Natural (Medine) #614... Medicine maybe??? Just kidding, but you're following your passion and that's exciting. I have no doubt you both will succeed with flying colors. Why did I say that? You both have ALREADY succeeded with flying colors...Good luck on your studies!!!!!! Gary

  • You have a typo in the title "California College of Natural Medine" ;-)
