The number n was chosen to be greater than q, so that n!(e - Sn) would turn out to be an integer, and the significance of 1/n < 1 is that n!(e - Sn) cannot be an integer, since there are no integers between (not including) 0 and 1.
Since n!(e - Sn) cannot be both an integer and not an integer, there is contradiction, so the assumption that e = p/q (is rational) must be false.

2) When you try to simplify 0/0, you don't get anything but 0/0
3) The definition of rathional number is that b does not equal zero, and it's still irrational after saying it's 0/0.
