  • How long did it take to you to play like that?

  • @DreamDevourer1 If you want to see a really crazy play check out a player called MON hes the only one to beat the black label ver of this perfectly no deaths when you have to fight two Hibachis at the same time, you see him play in real time almost broke his arcade sick fighting the last boss

  • Actually mushihimesama futari is considered the hardest ,,, and zatsuza is more harder on daifukkatsu none the less an awesome game can't wait for it to be ported to ios ^_^

  • I jog to the mall with a dollar... Just to play this game. Excersing was never more worth it than now. Lol

  • looks too hard, how come some people enjoy it?

  • @dapithapon What's too hard for someone might be just challenging for others, and I'd imagine we all enjoy a good challenge.

  • @dapithapon It's a lot eaiser than it looks The particle hit detection is very very precise.

  • @TheStubdep No, PSP is too small for bullet hell games. But for shumps in general, Dariusburst is a good choice.

  • 5:48 WHAT THE FUCKS GOING ON

  • these games are "designed" to take your money. (f*ck I died.... MORE QUARTERS!!) so just think, whenever you play an arcade danmaku game. your predecessors were fighting for their moneys worth.

  • @animeisart1

You cannot get this far by using continues. If you use continues on first loop, you won't get on second.

You cannot use continues on second loop either, as game ends the moment you lose your last life.

  • @TheStubdep Neo Geo Shooting is the only one I can think of.

  • The art of streaming: Stream or Scream.

  • All I can think of when I see these games is

    As if that wasn't enough

  • The LAST Boss Fight's Music sounds vaguely reminiscent of the Last Boss Fight Music for "Battle Garegga."

And by the way: does this game's bullets REALLY fly at that speed?? It looked to me as if the game video was sped up from its actual speed.

  • @007Thanos007 While I disagree about the themes sounding similar, it's interesting you say that - the music of both games was composed by Manabu Namiki, shooting game music legend and probably all-around chill guy.

And yes, this video is running at normal speed, but the rank here is jacked way up from him using so many Hyper items, not bombing/dying, and generally doing well. Kinda funny that you bring that up, while in the same comment mentioning Battle Garegga...

  • @GerkIIDX Actually, the music reminded me of the Doom battle music from Ketsui.

  • lolwut

  • @palindrome33 I grabbed it on the first day - the first CAVE release in the UK! I hope Rising Star, the company that brought it over, will have a look at the other games now! ^_^

  • @andy7666 Dodonpachi Daifukkatsu. Soon in a store near you

  • This looks like level 1 of DoDonPachi!

    Wow....

  • @DragonGodXIII Sure does! Not the same stage, but definitely the same location.

Look closely at the wreckage in the chasm around 0:28...

  • @GerkIIDX This must be quite a punch, or just nostalgia to older fans =p

  • iphone

  • this game looks great i wanna play as well as deathsmiles

  • can anyone show me where the hit box is?

  • @CaptainCrunchityzer Try living in the UK - Americans have it pretty sweet games wise, you get more Jap games released over there (even though they are translateed into English, many games do not come to England). I can only dream of playing Death Smiles unless I get an import console.

  • @CaptainCrunchityzer aaaaand YHBT.

  • I only like playing these games for a quarter at the arcade, but I quit playing arcade games when they started charging $2 a game.

  • The title is really hard to pronounce.

  • That last boss wants the player dead... even if it has to go to extremes to achieve that!

Seriously, how do people pull this off?!

  • "AAAAAAAH OH GOD!!! NOT THE BEES !!! NOT THE BEEEEEEES!!!!!"

  • lolololol only hardcore otakus play bullet hell

  • mushihimesama still have more attacks >_>

  • he probably had like 500 lifes

  • @777digger777

Actually, you can have only 6 at this stage, providing you have perfected everything before this.

  • @Sasupoika2

    i was just kidding...

  • This dude is GOOD! I'm I noticing a rather gererous hitbox? He seems to almost fly right through a lot of the shots

  • @crackbinge ah...what?

  • @CaptainCrunchityzer Maybe what? What comment are you replying to?

  • such a great game! This is the game that made me buy a Japanese PS2.

  • 0_0 it's fuc.... hard !!!!

  • @AManofWit

I think this and DonPachi are available on the Playstation Network. That would, however require a PS3 or PSP.

  • Cave apologises for the amount of bricks that were shat during the viewing of this video

  • @AManofWit

    They are both region-locked.

  • it won't work on my iPod!!!!:@

  • That is the sickest curtain shooter I have every seen. And this is coming from somebody that has beaten DoDonPachi in the arcade on 1 quarter.

  • Man I wish MAME could emulate this... that'd be fuckin awesome.

Ah well one day in the distant future I guess...

  • @spheresoftware

There is PS2-version that you can purchase ( region-locked to Japan. )

  • @Sasupoika2 Ah.. shame I don't have a PS2!! (Well a working one anyway). There is a PS2 emulator you can get, but its painfully slow right now.. oh well maybe one day eh! Thx anyway.

  • Love the music for the final boss's second phase and on.

  • Maybe...Just MAYBE, now that Aksys Games has released Cave's Deathsmiles in the US, we MIGHT MIGHT MIGHT have a chance at getting DDP Dai Fukkatsu, or Muchi Muchi Pork, or even Pink Sweets...shit or KETSUI released in the States too.

Everyone needs to do their duty and buy 2 copies of Deathsmiles...consider it a vote for Cave to localize more games, or allow it.

    Nuff said.

  • That's.....worse than mushihimesama..... arg.....

  • What a soundtrack!

  • dam i was going to get this game, no i see ho hardcore it is, i think uill get owned

  • the soundtracks for this game are amazing

  • holy crap, that looks ridiculously impossible!

  • what is this game available for?

  • @voodoo678 Arcade and PS2. There was also an Xbox 360 port but it was incredibly buggy.

  • Comment removed

  • this is the same of fukkatsu????

  • @felipebrasil5

No, Daifukkatsu is sequel to this.

    Donpachi -> Dodonpachi -> ( Dodonpachi II: Bee Storm ) -> Dodonpachi Dai-ou-jou -> Dodonpachi Daifukkatsu.

DDP II was not developed by CAVE.

  • A lot of these bullet patterns on this stage remind me of Espgaluda II.

  • This is absolutely insane.

Massive amount of bullets, difficult patterns, harder DoDonpachi last bosses as mid bosses and overall it felt very long.

    How can you maintain concentration?

  • I love manic shooters and bullet hell. Just those moments where defeats seem neigh, all hope is lost before this insane screen full of bullets.. And then you dodge it and win.

  • is this available for the American ps2?

  • @rodsormen1 Oh, if only. (i.e: No)

  • the only way i can play like this is if im blind firing while im juss paying attention to my ship

  • I have no idea what just happened

  • This is why i dont play shmups...

  • BLASPHEMY.

No really, bullet hells aren't really that hard. It's just that they require more spatial awareness than pure reflexes, unlike regular shmups. That, and a bit of patience to learn the hitboxes of the particular game you are playing.

  • @sirjazzhands Bullet hells are shmups you doofus, and don't call them stupid because you aren't good enough to last 20 seconds!

  • Biggeset cheeze in videogame history!

  • This game is desgined for you to fail! WTF!

  • These shmups are considered niche games. If cave made it any easier all the fan base would complain. It's the way it is.

  • DOJ was made back in 2002. They've made plenty of easier games since then. A lot has changed.

  • @Udderdude Unfortunately.

  • @DeadlyDre More or less. Challenge is where it's at in these games nowadays. If the enemies themselves aren't blisteringly hard, a ridiculous scoring system is added to give players something to kick themselves over and try to master.

  • i hope you send this game to the angry video game nerd.

    cause he reviewed ninja gaiden.

this game is one of the most difficult and fustrating games ever for normal gamers.

you need to sacrifice your school grades for this one.

  • @masterkill107 well, he probably wouldn't be able to get his hands on it, i guess he could do donpachi and dodonpachi because they are MAME roms...

  • This guy is amazing. I love what he did with the bomb at around 4:33 so he could stay at max.

That spiral pattern at the end looks *absolutely evil*, as he _constantly_ died and bombed from it.

  • wow this player is amazing

deserves a high round of applause

hehe i liked the 6.00, it looks like hes doing good ikaruga skills :)

  • Nice! Great to see such an awesomely intense game played this well. I can imagine the two deaths at 6:18 and 6:24 were probably the hardest to accept. But that's coming from someone no way near this standard of bullet dodging.

  • Sweet jumping crap on a pita, that is messed up difficult.

  • Man... what an incredible soundtrack.

  • Why do people even feel a need to chime in with these "WAAAA MUSHIHIMESAMA IS HARDER" types of comments?

Not that they're even remotely original, creative, informative, or anything of the sort, the only thing these people succeed in doing is pretending there's some sort of retarded fanboy rivalry of sorts between the two games.

Guys, seriously...They're both shmups. Even then, they're pretty different. And above all, they're both from CAVE. Okay? So enough with the cranial-rectal inversions.

  • Mushihimesama has atleast remotely visible bullets.....some of the patterns here are clearly made just to make the player lose credits >.>

  • @Bananamatic Every Hibachi final pattern has that design, there's no escape. Just take a look at DFK Black Label... that's the most vicious pattern I've ever seen, with the sole exception of Futari obviously.

  • Wait, Futari is actually harder than DFK BL?

That new Hibachi looks like too much even for the superplayers...

  • When I tried this game I was like "yaaaay, finally something easier than mushihime sama" and moments later the game goes apeshit on me and i'm like "ohhhhh god! X_X what the hell?" :P.Bullet hell is fun but really "hell" XD...

  • Mushihimesama is shorter and has more forgiving scoring.

It can is debatable if Dodonpachi Daioujou 1-cc is harder than Mushihimesama 1-cc.

  • What's the point of this comment? you can't beat either.

  • this is not the hardest one

    but dodonpachi (青)version does

  • I drew this with my spirograph. Could you make this with bullets?

    Here, here's another spirograph picture.

    Make them overlap.

  • This is insano hard. I just got this game. I actually find it more difficult then mushihime sama in many regards.

  • took like 8 credits for me to finish the final stage xD

  • Bullet hells ftw.

  • Alwyas wondered why they never published these games on all consoles, and PC and in all countries. Maybe it has something to do wint censur and publishing rules:S. Anywyas good game though, I cannot even come to Hibachi cauzz I suck XD

  • Or the fact there's next to no market for it.

  • >this game

  • I love DoDonPachi. Too bad I have to start using continues after level 4.

  • You are still doing better than I am. I don't usually get to stage 4 with default lifes.

  • one of the best shooter ever made

  • Oh... my god...

  • Last time I used simulation to try on Stage 2-5, it took me more than 20 lives to defeat just the true last boss. (Because bombs are useless)

  • ...I think I'll just stick with calm old Parodius

  • Looks like Ketsui Death label

  • I don't think it's an idea that's doomed from the start - it just hasn't really been done right.

Stylistically, if Cave _really_ wanted to, they could make it work...so I think, anyhow.

  • Wow! How crazy!

  • Sonic wings is a big shit compred with this!

  • o_O INSANE DODGES

  • Can you imagine what DoDonPachi would be like if it was 3D? =)

Would a system be able to handle that many bullets and a huge map that'd be required?

I'll be suprised if they try making a 3D version. However I think Cave will just stick to Arcade games.

  • Dodge/navigate shooters, especially ones like this (i.e. danmaku/bullet hell) wouldn't translate into 3D well if at all, I'd say. Otherwise, it'd probably have been done before - not for DonPachi or for any cave shooter, but just something notable.

  • see ikaruga, that has gorgeous 3D

  • talking about 3D gameplay, not graphics.

Though Ikaruga is certainly pleasing to the eye.

  • Im wondering which is harder, this or Mushihimesama, Id say Mushihimesama cause the video I saw of the last boss seems to last around 10 minutes.

  • I'd like to see you take on his (world) record.

  • O.O SCARY STUFF!!!

What's even worse is that you're so Scary Good at this thing! XDD

I can't BELIEVE some of the dodges made and "Bullet Hells" in this game! =D

Now I wanna give it a go! ^_^

    Sincerest & Kindest Regards,

    Forever In Love,

  • wow this looks cool!

  • Even enemies before the boss seem to put up a good fight!

  • They realy steped up the dificulty from DonPahi And DODOn Pachi

  • ............ And I thought games like Espgaluda & Ibara was hard enough as it is. Just watching this clip gives me feeling that I'm not going to last long if I were to play it. :'(

  • Ibara is substantially harder than Daioujou, but Espgaluda is easier than both by far.

  • try radiant silvergun. its like dodonpachi but what makes it harder are the walls.. stupid fucking walls...

  • Im sure he has never heard of radiant silvergun it is very obscure and all.

  • The name Ikaruga, though, is sure to ring many more bells

  • If even THAT guy dies on the last boss, then it is a hard boss.

I love the original DoDonPachi. Maybe i will get this too. Looks awesome. =)

  • That boss is maybe third hardest boss in world I guess. Just trailing behind Hibachi2 and Larsa.

  • Hibachi from Dai Fukkatsu (the 1.5 version, after they got rid of the safe spots) might be worse also, along with True Aki from Arrange Mode on Mushihimesama. Of course, I'm assuming that Hibachi2 refers to the "two Hibachis" fight in the PS2 version.

  • Christ, that last form is BS

  • Is this game still schedule for release on Xbox 360!?!? Gooooood god I can't wait :D

  • Dec. 25th 2008. There should be no region locking so it can be played on an American 360.

  • Most definitely...if you can get your hands on it, anyway.

  • idk which is harder

    mushihimesama

    or this

i think this is hard because mushihimesama bullets move slow compared to these bullets that fly at you super fast

yea i would say this is harder

  • oooooooooooh me likes it xD

  • Well, by watching videos of Mushihimesama, Mushihimesama is harder I think.

    Through DOJ gets pretty close.

  • Heh, I love the way they brought back DDP's Stage 4 and 5 bosses as midbosses.

  • Stage 6, too. It's also pretty cool how you can see the wreckage of the 1st boss in the chasm (keeping in mind this is also the location of DDP's first level.)

  • If i ever gained the skills to get to that boss I'd be too busy rocking out to the music to beat it.

  • Amen to that XD

  • If you think this is "not THAT" difficult, you are incorrect. The hitbox is small, yes, but I encourage you to try playing this game. It's a lot different when you're doing it.

  • i tried the other day...ur eyes just want to close after trying to guide ur little pixel box for 3 seconds

  • At its peak, definitely, Mushihime has its moments and is tons harder than the DDP series, but also consider how the game, 1, came out later amongst a more experienced/skilled crowd and 2, has like forty different modes/difficulties.

That said, wait for the new DDP before trying to conjecture which game "owns" which by any span.

  • When you clear the 1st round in this game, all your remaining flights will be taken away and you will be facing the ultra-difficult 2nd loops beings with ONE life, and you are not allowed to continue either. If you die it is game over.

I have heard less than 100 people in the world could even SEE Habachi, don't know how many of them could beat the game.

  • is only having 4 stages? or 5?

  • hahah. I love it when peoople say Ikaruga is harder because they saw a video of it or read about it on another site. That game is challenging, no doubt, but try DOJ, Battle Garegga, or even Pink Sweets first.

  • Don't forget Ibara, Espgaluda, The Mushihimesama Series, and, hell, Touhou to an extent.

    -Mikeymike360

  • ^^^Cosign

  • As I have played bo.. ( Actually, Ikaruga and DDP, not DOJ ), all I can say that Dodonpachi is harder. And Dodonpachi Daioujou is harden than original dodonpachi. Or am I wrong?

  • which do you think is harder?

    Mushihimesama or Dodonpachi?

  • this is insane!!!1i want to leave in Japan

  • Yep, it's harder. The little slowdown of recording, panic that appears when trying to navigate through bullet waves, and that fear of failure.

Yep, it's harder than you think.

  • Japanese are crazy. :(

  • And I thought touhou was hard.

  • increible

  • ROFL

  • What..? This... Game... Is... OVERFLOWING WITH WIN!

  • The music in this game is great; that's pretty rare for most shoot 'em ups.

  • I agree with you on the music's greatness, but have to disagree; most shmups tend to have excellent presentation, and this includes their soundtracks

  • Well, I guess part of it is that most of the time I'm not a fan of the techno beats... But then again, Ikaruga, 1944, Psyvariar 2 and Mushihimesama all have pretty nice tunes...

So yeah! I guess I've failed to appreciate some great shoot 'em up soundtracks!

  • yeah its true ! cursedvanity, u should play raiden 2. I find its soundtrack the most gripping, epic in shmups, ever made. Maybe its just because i was a kid when played that so it hit me... But i replayed it many times n still have the soundtrack on my comp.

  • Hit box isn't small enough for me. I still can't get past the 3rd stage...

  • It is obvious that your ship has an extremely small hit box from the looks of things. Besides, do the bullets themselves have small hit boxes as well?
