Those were made for the Simplicity Model "A" one wheel Cluti-Cutter tractor and only from 1940-1945. So it is indeed a scarce engine. I can send you the literature on the Simplicity model "A" if you're interested in seeing the machine this engine operated.
i had someone argueing me for the longest time that someone retrofitted another schroud on it. nope it left the factory like that special order i guess? i never seen another like it!
Did this have a kick starter on it for use on a Cushman scooter?

For the oil bath air cleaner what weight of oil do you use?
Also for the engine. Does it require straight weight 30 Detergent or NON- Detergent oil?

In an engine this old I would try as much as possible to use a non-detergent oil. A detergent oil may reveal slow oil leaks if there are any.
