Excellent work, I just found one doing exactly the same into a hole she has dug in a small plant pot. I'll move the plant pot into the greenhouse for over winter.
It is quite amazing. Found a freshly made leave "cocoon" and carefully opened it to find an egg and a plug of fatty residue (food for the larva). Shortly the bee returned, fixed what i had disrupted and buried the cocoon again. I learnt something and the bee wasn't that much worse off.
Noticed some oval cuts on my rose bushes. Interesting to mention that the cut a perfectly round piece at the end to cover the opening of the cocoon!
So that's what happened to my judas tree! Lol! Thanks for posting this and also as a video response to my 'bee art' video a while back (I only just checked and noticed...).
