  • is that vid taken on the Borgloh hill racing competition?

  • The race is every year, always in August and it's on a normal road, the road is about 4 days locked so the cars can drive.

The location is in Hilter/Borgloh, in Osnabrück.

  • awsome!

  • That would be a Type II...not a Type I. Type I is a bug.

  • Actually the first VW bus is just called "bus". They didn't have a name for it. After the T2 came out everyone just called the first one a "T1" VW bus. And T1 is not a bug. The first VW bug was called the Volkswagen Käfer (German name) and has nothing to do with the Type 1 name.

  • Actually, the original Bus was made on the Type 1 frame and was considered a Type 1.

  • Yes the prototype bus was built on a Type 1 pan but early testing found the typ 1 chassis too weak. The Unitized frame and body were then developed. Typ 1 is a bug Typ 2 Bus Typ 3 the fast, square and notch backs, Typ 4 the 411 and 412. When specifically speaking of the Transporters (Vans) T1 is a 50-67 bus a T2 is 68-79 and a T3 is the 80-91 Transporter/Vanagon/Caravel , depending on your market.

  • OMG

  • Holy Fuck Balls

  • Shame the video is a little short, I believe it is the Race-taxi bus which has a modified 993 power unit, must be heaps of fun though a huge project to build.
