When I last worked for a big box store I had to sign a document saying that I would be agreeable to working anywhere between 12 and 32 hours. Labor being the highest cost, then benefits, it only stands to reason, to reach the profit goal each quarter, less pay (reduced hours), less benefits. See where this is going. If you run out of unemployment, you will take a job at any pay, for as many hours as you can, and no benefits.

What I have noticed is that people in my area are starting to pay less attention to the U-3 unemployment number (9.8%). They know that number is under-reported and I've at least heard more people citing the U-6 unemployment number (17%). For what it's worth, my dad just found out the Papa John's he used to go is now out of business.

How about loan modification? They wonder why some people are still defaulting after a loan modification. I had my loan modified. They lowered it by $11. That is right. Eleven dollars. My friend had hers modified by $100 but the PMI went to $500. So her modified loan was $220 more a month than the original loan amount.

Sorry to hear about your personal situation. As you may have already heard, Congress is pushing for a 3rd extension on unemployment benefits. This may get sped through due to the urgency of the job(less) situation.
What bothers me so much is that we ARE talking about real people and real stories. And to listen to the TV idiots you would think all that matters is stock performances and Wall Street bonuses. We are so disconnected from reality that things NEED TO CHANGE big time.
I had heard about the 3rd extension but don't have a status on it. We all know that unemployment money isn't the problem, it's Jobs! The power that control that (Wall St) isn't going to allow any jobs to return to the US until the same profit margins can be made using US labor. Stagnate wages didn't do it, now we are seeing the decline in wages, through reduced hours, next it will be pay and soon the world will be the same everywhere.

The sad fact is that the people of this country will practically beg them to do it. I never blamed anyone for the financial meltdown, but Bush did help set us in that motion. Also, the reason Bush's deficit seems lower than Obama's is because the war time spending on Bush's part was kept out of the official deficit reports because they were "emergency" funding, which makes it look alot better.

At the end of the day, businesses are going to do what's best for their bottom line.
You need to give more backstory on what happened at that Tyson plant. For example, what was the average wage of the workers who attended? Were there ever any strikes? Wage disputes? Was there a union at any time? Were there conflicts?
Illegals will work for less pay and put in more hours for it, and won't have the firepower to start and enforce a strong union.
It's hard to judge without more info.

Many millions have been unemployed a year or longer, a fact which is not well know and not broadcast by our government. Unemployment benefits have been exhausted and many do not qualify under Employment Security Commission rules and regulations in order to qualify and get unemployment extensions! Millions lost benefits or were disqualified in Sept, and the same again will happen in Dec.

I agree with "vashguud" about cars. In the small ap't bldg I live in, not one of the clunkers in my parking lot got traded in - no one living here can afford a car payment. They're been non-running cars left in the lot for months until people could afford to get them fixed.

When I last worked for a big box store I had to sign a document saying that I would be agreeable to working anywhere between 12 and 32 hours. I really needed at least 24 hours, but nine times out of ten, I got 12 hours. The reason: at 20 hours a week, I would have been listed as full-time employed. Any hours over 32 would have necessitated them to offer me health care by law.

Wall St demands profits, not long term but short term. If a company wants to stay competitive on the global market, they have to do whatever it takes to show a profit. Labor being the highest cost, then benefits, it only stands to reason, to reach the profit goal each quarter, less pay (reduced hours), less benefits. See where this is going. If you run out of unemployment, you will take a job at any pay, for as many hours as you can, and no benefits.

I work at a resturant because i had to quit an previous one, there are so many people applying right now, it is not even funny. Intresting now my manager is asking people to turn an resume with an application.

FWIW, It's my opinion that the corporations have been doing their work via the governments already. The People's Earth will be fully realized when the corrupt system eats itself and all of the current governments collapse, but I have no idea how long we have until that happens. It may not be in our lifetimes.

I also live in the UK and have been subscribing to Daniel's channel for over a year now, it's been very educational (thanks Daniel), and also many that post here have provided links to other channels, i.e. Peter Schiff and Gerald Celente. Daniel, Peter and Gerald are true realists and tell it as it is. They have inspired me to issue economic notices at work detailing the truth, not spin like the media and politicains.

What I have noticed is that people in my area are starting to pay less attention to the U-3 unemployment number (9.8%). They know that number is under-reported and I've at least heard more people citing the U-6 unemployment number (17%). For what it's worth, my dad just found out the Papa John's he used to go is now out of business.

The govt. has to lie to the people because it's the only way to get their agenda through of robbing the american people. As the country founders tried to tell us that having a central bank is wrong and they fought not to have it. Remember being from europe they knew over the centuries what central banks and the banking elite did to many many countries. They didn't want it replicated here, and it looks like it is being replicated.

How about loan modification? They wonder why some people are still defaulting after a loan modification. I had my loan modified. They lowered it by $11. That is right. Eleven dollars. My friend had hers modified by $100 but the PMI went to $500. So her modified loan was $220 more a month than the original loan amount.

How do they know someone has given up looking for a job? I have been looking for 9 months. I am tired of hearing about people who have given up. I don't believe it. They just can not find a job and people who have jobs seem to think that if you are without a job for a long time that it is your fault.

As they say numbers are like people and if you torture them enough they will tell you anything.
With global shipping falling (import exports), people not having money to spend = more people loosing jobs= no money to spend = more people loosing jobs and so on & on & ON it goes.
I honestly think this Xmas will be the last of its kind, the media can cover all the doom with Xmas but after that the bills will come in and the party is over.

I seen the ? about CIT, but we know they are doomed no matter how much bailout money they get... yes they did already get some TARP funds. CIT is at the forefront of commercial real estate, they are doomed, but I am not sure of the systemic risk there? Big losses down the pipe for them however.

Well it looks like Ireland has voted for the Treaty of Lisbon and in the process ceded their national sovereignty to the EU superstate. What a foolish decision. All it takes is a collapsed economy for people to rush into the arms of the very institutions that caused the economic collapse.

Dollar Share of Reserves Drops as Euro Reaches Record
Sept. 30 (Bloomberg) -- The dollars share of global currency reserves fell in the second quarter to the lowest level in a decade as the holdings of euros rose to a record, according to the International Monetary Fund.
The U.S. currencys portion dropped to 62.8 percent in the period ended June 30, from 65 % in the prior quarter and 62.9 %a year earlier. The euros share rose to a record 27.5 % from 25.9 %while the pound and yen gained.

First, I and others are sympathetic to what you are experiencing...I think most of us are all feeling the pains of this collapse. It is a hard cruel reality for most and I have been frustrated and angry to realize this has been coming our way for years (and most everyone is oblivious and just re-gurgitates everything they have been hypnotized with by the government and media - "green shoots" and all that crap).

Some other great Utubers who can really help you understand are Kdenninger (good analysis on his website "market ticker" also "wepollock" and "jberni1" is a good german economist. Truth is sometimes painful (re-adjusting our mindset) - but overall it will give you more understanding and power to see the situation as it is and how it is being played out (and then plan your life accordingly as best you can)

Sorry to hear about your personal situation. As you may have already heard, Congress is pushing for a 3rd extension on unemployment benefits. This may get sped through due to the urgency of the job(less) situation.
What bothers me so much is that we ARE talking about real people and real stories. And to listen to the TV idiots you would think all that matters is stock performances and Wall Street bonuses. We are so disconnected from reality that things NEED TO CHANGE big time.

I had heard about the 3rd extension but don't have a status on it. We all know that unemployment money isn't the problem, it's Jobs! The power that control that (Wall St) isn't going to allow any jobs to return to the US until the same profit margins can be made using US labor. Stagnate wages didn't do it, now we are seeing the decline in wages, through reduced hours, next it will be pay and soon the world will be the same everywhere.
