  • @surhit he has a name. And a better camera now. And had little time to do a vid due to the D10S needing packed for shipping. The Yamaha was my favorite.

  • Just a comment---The sound on your video wasn't right ----not sure why?

  • @micmoable Crap camera at the time.

  • @DEK431 I hear ya--some of them can act bad at times

  • I got my Yamaha fg730s! It is pretty awesome check my review here

    /watch?v=Tzb-bxJOyuc

  • Yamaha FG730S has a cleaner sound. The DS10 is also very good, thanks for post.

  • ok ths one more time for the answer.i dont know why but i think yamaha fg730 can hear the rosewood sound but still laminated.the "experts say only solid wood you can hear the different between mahogany and rosewood".but i guess the yamaha make great guitars and laminated of yamaha its better than i lot of another brands.i try washburn in the past and real like the sound too but now its too expensive i buy yamaha for 238$ in ebay.washburn now is 350$.

  • @leomavs Yamaha sandwiches a low grade solid wood in the middle of 2 nice thin pieces of rosewood. That's why the Yamaha's sound so good and like solid rosewood. They often go to the trouble of matching the grain so it looks like its solid wood. No one makes laminates like Yamaha. Check out seagull as well the S6 is nice.

  • hidek31.thanks for the video.the choice of guitar its very personal and I personally prefer the yamaha, but likes the washburn too. this two are the best for buck. please if you still have the guitars please post another video without capo.thnaks one more time.

  • @leomavs Sorry friend, both are gone. Sold a long time ago i have the acoustic in my latest video now. I change a lot till i get a good one.

  • yamaha fg730 its awesome!put bone nut and saddle and daddario exp and you have exelent guitar.washburn is good too for the bucky but yamaha is real much better.for some beginner try see solo videos about this 2 guitars and compare.

  • @leomavs Couldn't agree more.

  • Washburn sounds more full

  • Which one is more durable?

  • that was exactly what i was looking for .i was comparing washburn og2 and yamaha f310 .guess what exactly same issue .one is more bass but other soft but more tone .which one did you like most after playing both .what is your opinion .post it please .be brave and ignore other

  • @borhanus I have had the F310, haven't tried the OG2?? The Yamaha's win overall BUT the D10s is a great guitar and cheaper than the FG730S. In the uk at least the D10S is priced close to the F310 but the D10S has a solid top. Go with what you like. All winners at that price.

  • Washburn UP! +1

  • Washburns are adequate, yamahas are impressive. Don't consult a video demo of an asshole playing with a capo. Go try the guitars out yourself

  • @hXcHipHop Gee thanks, glad to be of assistance.

  • Washburn all the way.. more snarl.. Yamaha sounds dull

  • Thought I prefer the thicker sound of the Washburn in this demo.

  • yamaha best

  • A nice bit of Snow Patrol there: I like it!

  • fuck all these complainers. just listen to the tune.. like to see any1 else have the confidence to put a similet video up. thanks for the vid i will now buy a washburn

  • @edinguy Thanks, and excellent choice.

  • Too Low Quality To Notice Any Differs)

  • @skyline200x Ye, i got a new camera now. Too late huh.

  • 730s is so pretty

  • which of the two is the easiest to play, I want to buy an acoustic for my girlfriend who is just starting out. I play electric myself so hence I am asking you. Which of the two has the best action? Sound wise from the recording I think the Yamaha has the edge

  • can i get the chords that you are using???

  • Yamaha have better sound ^^

  • i like the song you play with the washburn :D

  • i have one(yamaha),good sound quality, but the fucker wont stay in tune.

  • THE YAMAHA LOOKS SOO NICE!!!

now thats a guitar u dont c everyday...i mean mostly u c people with yellow or light yellow natural paitned guitars & thats a burnout.

  • @jackassqwe1 Natural colored guitars don't have paint--they are just clear-coated over natural wood---I'd whole lot rather have sunburst colors than a plain jane natural wood guitar

  • Hey DEK431, sorry, didn't mean to be mean. just was really keen to hear a comparison because I'm very interested in a FG730S, but a Washburn D10S is more readily available where I live, in Darwin Australia. Thanks very much for posting anyway. Oh, and did a bone saddle make a worthwhile difference?

  • @thebaldog1 The saddle did make a difference. I'd stretch to the 730 it's the type of guitar you could keep for a long time from beginner to ameture.

  • Sorry, but what's the point of comparing guitars with a capo on the 6th fret?

  • @thebaldog1 Capos have feelings too you know. Sorry this was the day the D10S went on eBay I had very little time. If I had time I would have done a better comparison.

  • Is the Yamaha FG730S praticly the same that the FG720S

  • @mattkiller37210 Hi. The 720 has nato back and sides (kind of mahogany) and the 730 has rosewood. Both laminate. If your deciding between them the 730 has the best sound in my opinion.

  • got a yamaha fg730s this vid helped tahat choice also. love the guitar!!

  • I should probably add. I put a bone saddle in the washburn.

  • The Yamaha is noticeably duller much much duller.

  • i have that washburn guitar.. its beautiful.. i love it.

  • Hi, do you now what the leters on the name of the Washburn mean, i have a D10STS

  • Solid is the first s meaning solid top. Tobacco sunburst for the ts?

  • Oh ok, thanks a lot for the answer, i also have a very nice Washburn F48SW, F for Folk and the S for solid, do you know what the W means ?

  • Folk solid wood. Nice guitar.

  • Thanks, now i know, yes it is a very nice guitar, full deep sound and volume

  • @DEK431 Is it easy on your fingers, for an acoustic

  • I think the Washburn has a full, deep sound and the Yamaha does sound cheap.

  • same strings? the yamaha sounds better for sure

  • Same strings.

  • the yamaha sounds cheap

  • where did you get your d10

  • At a local shop.

  • the color on it is very tan did it come in natural or whats up with that lol.

  • It may just be the camera but it's not the usual blonde colour you sometimes get. Spruce darkens as it ages so it's a good thing. Do you have a D10S? The only guitar I've got out of all my vids is the Martin HD28.

  • yamaha FG series is better instrument witch washburn

  • which one should i get the yamaha or the washburn? btw ive been playing guitar for about 4 months.

  • If your serious and want to stick to the instrument, the yamaha 100%.

  • @smellslikedylan both are very good guitars but all in all the washburn is better its just of a higher quality

  • my opinion is d10 sound better......because f730 sound very thin....not rich enough...

  • I own a FG730S and i can say the rosewood back and sides make amazing high, clear treble and nice deep bass, which i dont think you will get with the mahogany Washburn.

  • Hey there. Would you mind telling me which of these two guitars has better action and easier playability? Sure enough, these are the two guitars I'm deciding between. I had the opportunity to play a D10S12 (12 string) and the action was incredibly low. I'm curious if it's the same on the D10S as I would like it to be. Thanks for any help. :)

  • Action is just a matter of set up. Take the saddle out and file it down a couple of mm. They aren't different enough in set up to talk about. Tone wise the yamaha wins by a long shot.

  • @DEK431 tonewise or just louder volume ?

  • Both.

  • hi i have been learning the guitar for about 4months now self taught ive got an electric guitar just a beginners 1 nothing special and i want to get an acoustic guitar for a while now i do plan on keepin to learning the guitar so is the Yamaha FG730S worth gettin for some1 at my standard any recomendations?

  • Yeah I'd recommend it for beginner ameture or pro. You wouldn't have to rush to get a "better" guitar. Amazing build quality and tone for the price.

  • cheers thanx for the advice i think this is definately the guitar ive decided on seems like 9 out of 10 ppl would chose this 1

  • please help im so confused. Alright well i was in a guitar store playing a washburn. it was a D 1 O SWH. I looked it up online and that does not come up anywhere. its a white acoustic guitar. The only thing that comes up is the D1Os. is that the same thing? the one i played was $325.

  • It's a White D10S. Look on washburns website. Quite nice :).

  • thank you very much. There the same guitar. On the website it says that its $599 but the one i played in store was $325. it wasnt used and i no for a fact it was the same guitar

  • Sometimes the rrp and what stores discount them at is different. It's the worlds best selling acoustic guitar. So you gonna grab it?

  • well actully idk now. I was wat guitar center and i played an ovation (acoustic electric) it was $400 and was like greyish and i think i liked that better. I have to go back and play the washburn again though

  • DEK - Which one of these would u prefer a beginner would use? The price difference between the 2 is around 220 $ where i live, which is good money. What u think and why ? Thanks!

  • Probably the yamaha as it would do a good first guitar plus if you still liked the tone all the way into your ameture playing days. It's a fierce guitar for the money. Buying good once is better and cheaper than buying twice.

  • I like the yamaha, but the washburn is nice too..

  • Recently purchased the Yamaha. Very happy, beautiful guitar i reccomend it to anyone. got mine for £230 from GAK.

  • Yamaha 720 - chinese mahogany (nato). 730 - indian rosewood (possibly chinese or other source). That's the only difference really.

  • Obviously the Yamaha because it's in a different price range really. The Yamaha is about twice the price of the Washburn.

  • RRP is the same, just the washburn has sold more as it is the worlds best selling acoustic, they can afford to discount it. But yes the yamaha is the better guitar.

  • i just got the yamaha used for 350 its really great sounding

  • To be completely honest I would definitely think that the Yahama deserves the cake in this one. It's body is rose wood and the top is "Solid sitka spruce" as described on MF. I have never played a Washburn but just by looking at materials you can base the the Yahama will have at the least better tone. Yamaha FTW? I think so.

  • the yamaha's back and sides aren't rosewood. it's nato. it SOUNDS close to rosewood though..

  • On Musician's friend it clearly says "Rosewood Back and sides" Probably laminated but it still seems like the better value.

  • The FG720S has nato wood, however the FG730S uses the higher quality and authentic Rosewood for the back and sides...

  • no, actually, i own one. The FG730s is rosewood. Maybe you have a different one, but mine is most definitely rosewood, laminated, but still rosewood.

  • The Yamaha FG730S has Rosewood back and sides. For a Fact

  • yeah but twice the price :S

  • the yamaha fg on your demo is clealy better than the washburn. more brighter and clearer sounding . i would go for the fg.

  • man i'll tell you what yamaha acoustics are under rated their L series is real nice i plan on pickin up a LL6 tinted top soon

  • the fg has a metallic sound

  • i used to have an FG and that's what I felt as well. VERY metallic. I didn't really like it for mellow stuff and sold it. Beginners tend to strum pretty unnecessarily hard so I guess the percussive metallic sound might appeal to that.

The best guitars in this price range IMO are Seagull... made in Canada for $300-400 with nice cedar tops. I like the S6 original but the S6 Slim (narrower/"faster" neck) is probably what most people would like the best.

  • I seen some seagull's. really nice guitars! nice woods. I think 'm gna get one.

  • the FG730S is really good. mine has a really well balanced sound with a warmer tone to it, more suited for strumming. the bass response of it is far better than the other guitars of its price range, definitely.

but then again each and every guitar sounds unique, even the same models, so make sure you try it before you buy it.

  • Go to the new post yamaha fg730s....by gibsonguitarplayer. you will buy the Yamaha. there is no comparison in quality to the washburn. just find out how many lifted bridges on the washburns down the road.

  • Theres no way i would buy a yamaha over a washburn especially not a d10s/d10sce. I ve played the d10 sce and it is amazingly good. NO way yamaha could invent something that good for a low price.

  • You need to try the Yamaha bud.

  • do they make a cutaway electric version of it. I would imagine a FG730SCE. Im buying a washburn D10sce on thursday, however there $63 where i live, so i would imagine that the FG730SCE version ,if it exsists, would be around $1000 or more. So it would have to be pretty good. Washburn D10S series are the number one selling guitar in the world, they must have done something right with the price. Good video anyway, we need more good comparing like this done on more guitars. Cheers

  • I really wish that people would quit posting on things they know nothing about. balius88---The Washburn and the Yamaha retail for the same price (You can purchase both online for around $300). Secondly, I own an fg730s, and before I purchased it, I tried THREE washburn D10s'. All three sounded okay, but between the plethora of flaws in construction in all three, I decided to spend my hard earned money on the yamaha, which sounds better, and has virtually no flaws in construction.

  • by the way, the stuff you wrote about the D10s being the best selling guitar in the world, the "model" number for the cutaway FG, and the price of it? Those are some pretty stupid assumptions. Sorry, dude, but I get frustrated when people post comments that make little to no sense because they know very little of what they're talkin' about.

  • Damn, wish you had better recording sound quality so i can decide better on both acoustics.. I'm really tossing up between these two guitars and cant really decide if $200 difference between getting a D10s at $300 or FG730s for $500 is worth it. Pity i can't test out the Washburn to know the difference, no stores near sell them arghh.

  • 100% the yamaha even my wife could tell the difference. Washburn had a bone saddle i fitted. Now sold the Washburn.

  • Yeah, i've read a lot of reviews on them both and most people do say that the difference is really worth it.. You just gave me more reassurance cause you actually had both :D I guess I'll just have to save up $200 more for that extra difference, Thanks :}

  • Ace choice i'll look forward to your vid's :P

  • I like the Yamaha better. I had one in sunburst. It sounded nice. I like that tobacco burst -- but GC NEVER has that color -- WTF?

  • I got mine mail order from Gear4music.

  • I ordered mine in tobacco sunburst from Guitar Center almost a year ago and couldn't be happier with it.

  • i have the exact same kind of guitar a Yamaha FG720S except its dusk sun red. i say use the yamaha its better. i have a washburn too and i thyink that the Yamaha sounds way better

  • The FG730S has Rosewood back and sides. The Yamaha FG720S has nato. Nothing wrong with the Washburn tho. Was on ebay as i recorded this LMAO. One acoustic is enough for me the Yamaha is the best.

  • I just bought a Yamaha FG720S (natural finish.) To my ears, it sounded better than any guitar in the acoustic room not in the little Martin/Gibson/Taylor humidor. My playing doesn't warrant a $3K guitar but I would have gone as high as $750 or so if something had sounded better. This thing was $265 (w/ coupon) plus another $30 for the set-up (what a racket) and $99 for a hard case. I'm so pleased with the sound that I probably won't replace it until I'm ready for a Martin HD28V.

  • No I didn't.

I was looking at that first guys comment and I typed the wrong guitar. It's a Yamaha FG730S.

  • Hi, i had a D28, too much boom, i like the balace of the 730S. These FG's hook you. I got a FG110 on the way built around 1972. Early FG's are amazing for tone as are the modern ones. Congrats on your choice.

  • I've never played a HD28V, but I was banging on a nearly $8000.00 Eric Clapton model Martin at Guitar Center yesterday. I just love that V neck. Maybe I won't end up getting an HD28V... but it will be something with with the forward scalloped bracing and a V neck.

  • If it was the 00028EC i had one. VERY wide neck and the reason i sold it. Traded in for the D28, i have a vid of it. Better but as i said boomy.

  • I think that it was an 000 something. I'm not a guitar expert, but it looked like one of those parlor guitars. I just tried it because of the V-neck. I like the wide necks though. I also have a Cordoba nylon-string single-cut, which I play with a pick. I'm thinking about getting a Gitane D-500 Maccaferri style guitar (which I need like a hole in the head.) Those Django Rheinhardt videos on Youtube have gone to my head.

  • FYI: That's what I love about Guitar Center. Had I reached for a Martin Eric Clapton guitar in a mom & pop guitar store, they'd have released the hounds.

  • I always go for the most expensive guitar in the store, never buy it tho lol. Should upload some vid's, all i use is a normal digital camera and windows movie maker.

  • yeah. and mine only cost me $500

  • Love this song & what an amazing version :) Well done x

  • Cheers :)
