I admit that a reduction in deaths from extreme weather is a fact, but how is that evidence that global warming is a myth? First of all, we are talking about climate, not weather. Secondly, correlation does not imply causation. He's lacking a basic understanding of what global warming is and a basic understanding of statistics. The notion that people should have one or two children is a fairly reasonable notion, I think, for industrialized nations. Obviously that isn't the case for the third world where children are labor for what independent farmers are still in business. Climate control regulations and forced population reduction will inhibit the industrialization of the third world, while the "post-industrial economies will continue as they were. I am not for mandating a one child policy, but be responsible.
John Coleman doesn't have a degree in Earth Sciences. Nor does Glenn Beck. The earth itself can endure the fluctuations in atmospheric composition, it's the environments and the biota that can't adapt at the same rate of climate change. Whether you choose to believe this or not what harm really could it do to ween ourselves off fossil fuels and reduce our impact on nature.

@dbohnenkamper The most recent period between glaciations has been relatively stable: about the last 12,000 years. That's relative stability, not absolute stability. The climate by its very nature is never in total equilibrium; I'm talking about the stabilization of the current disruptions in the global carbon and nitrogen cycles since the Holocene epoch re-balancing. Our activities cannot destroy the Earth, but they can make it a lot less habitable, and no one wants that.

I Just can't belive how much stupidity is broadcasted on television these days. It is a proven fact that gases like CO2 are capable of absorbing and re-emitt infrared radiation that contributes to a rise in temperature in a sistem where these gases are present. Humans have been emiting these substances to the atmosfere in colossal quantities for the last 300 years and although the earth has some mechanisms to prevent global warming they are simply not enough due to this huge amounts.

(esrl noaa gov) Since 1751, roughly 315 billion tons of carbon have been released to the atmosphere from human activity. The volume of Earth's atmosphere is about 1.08 billion cubic miles. So, we've increased the concentration of over a billion cubic miles of volume by 110 ppm in about 150 years. It's clear we've increased it.

For the past 100 years, the observations of solar maxima don't show any correlation with the increase in surface temperatures during that time; that is, their numbers don't match up in a statistically significant way. However, the increase in global atmospheric CO2 concentrations do show a correlation with the increase in surface temperatures: why CO2 is the main culprit.

I admit that a reduction in deaths from extreme weather is a fact, but how is that evidence that global warming is a myth? First of all, we are talking about climate, not weather. Secondly, correlation does not imply causation. He's lacking a basic understanding of what global warming is and a basic understanding of statistics. The notion that people should have one or two children is a fairly reasonable notion, I think, for industrialized nations. Obviously that isn't the case for the third world where children are labor for what independent farmers are still in business. Climate control regulations and forced population reduction will inhibit the industrialization of the third world, while the "post-industrial economies will continue as they were. I am not for mandating a one child policy, but be responsible.

The trick these EPA socialists/marxists/communists/liberals/dem use is this ....they find a geological location that has energy potential.....then some graduate student does a paper on say a simple flower.....the graduate then studies the common flower or clover and low and behold he discovers a slight generic differense.....he sues the EPA.....

@dbohnenkamper Actually, it was the minority opinion scientists who posited the term "climate change" as it reflects the true nature of the change: some areas heat up, others cool off, the whole system changes, and who's to say it will end up in a warmer planet after the energy balances have completed? It's a more accurate description, posited by those you might actually agree with, so stop frothing at the mouth.

@dbohnenkamper The most recent period between glaciations has been relatively stable: about the last 12,000 years. That's relative stability, not absolute stability. The climate by its very nature is never in total equilibrium; I'm talking about the stabilization of the current disruptions in the global carbon and nitrogen cycles since the Holocene epoch re-balancing. Our activities cannot destroy the Earth, but they can make it a lot less habitable, and no one wants that.

I Just can't belive how much stupidity is broadcasted on television these days. It is a proven fact that gases like CO2 are capable of absorbing and re-emitt infrared radiation that contributes to a rise in temperature in a sistem where these gases are present. Humans have been emiting these substances to the atmosfere in colossal quantities for the last 300 years and although the earth has some mechanisms to prevent global warming they are simply not enough due to this huge amounts.

How small do you think the atmosphere is?... It would be like dumping salt into the ocean, it will take massive quantities of salt to cause any significant change. In addition, we were also told that early earth was covered in CO2, and the temperature didn't rise out of control, it actually decreased dramatically when life began.

@ogpwr Just before the industrial age, atmospheric CO2 was about 278 parts per million (ppm) in concentration. In 1979 it was at 330 ppm. Today it's around 391 ppm. (esrl noaa gov) Since 1751, roughly 315 billion tons of carbon have been released to the atmosphere from human activity. The volume of Earth's atmosphere is about 1.08 billion cubic miles. So, we've increased the concentration of over a billion cubic miles of volume by 110 ppm in about 150 years. It's clear we've increased it.

@ogpwr The reasoning is that we've been through many solar maxima in recent history; they occur every 9 to 14 years. For the past 100 years, the observations of solar maxima don't show any correlation with the increase in surface temperatures during that time; that is, their numbers don't match up in a statistically significant way. However, the increase in global atmospheric CO2 concentrations do show a correlation with the increase in surface temperatures: why CO2 is the main culprit.
