  • She sounds like she smoked a joint.

  • BOOOOOOOO WHITEHOUSE.

  • I think in the 60's women had a certain accent. They all seemed to talk the same i.e. Jackie O, Jayne Mansfield, Marilyn Monroe, Elizabeth Taylor etc

  • @free2bmissa she had a New York accent from the Hamptons, not from NY City itself. It was different. After WWII a lot more newer generations spoke with a less marked accent, so people in the 60's that were in the media and films were perhaps the last generation of people to speak with such an accent. She actually was brought up speaking that way. Other actress(i.e. Marilyn Monroe, etc.) didn't speak with the actual accent natively and perhaps only spoke like that in films.

  • wow she had an interesting accent, this is a timeless video!

  • where's the one with the drunk first lady?

  • Vote Ralph Nader!!!

  • Can imagine JFK giving the bust of Churchill back or purposely pissing off our closest allie Israel? No way. Kennedy was a traditional liberal, not like his fat ass drunken brother.

  • I would bet that Michelle Obama doesn't know any of this because she basically hates the country. Democrats were far different then. They actually loved their country and were for the man on the street.

  • Now think about it for just a second. Jackie Kennedy was the epitome of class. Michelle Obama, doesn't hold a candle to Jackie. My have things have changed.

  • @greyhoundgirl103 I went to watch this because I read about it in Jacqueline Kennedy: Historic Conversations on Life with John F. Kennedy--where she repeatedly demonstrates how much of a petty air-headed witch she was. Seriously, having enough money to buy expensive trinkets and clothes does not equate to class. I hate how people hero worship useless women like Jackie O and Grace Kelly.

  • @yeahjesse So what are you? Just a person who dislikes another. We all are, but when you say she had no class that's when you don't know what you're talking about. I admire her for who she was, an intelligent, classy and beautiful woman. So is it me you hate for admiration, or Jackie for being admired? Either way its a petty thing to hate. Everything we think can be proven, we must challenge the way we think. I once convinced myself i was in love with a Lego figurine.

  • @SenselessDreamworld Although sometimes she may sound like an airhead to some people (like the person you're conversing with), all of the people who knew her personally did say that she was very witty, very fast thinking. I think people need to remember that she went to Vassar, which was the Harvard equivalent in her day. I think the reason why she sometimes speaks like this is because her womanizing father taught her to play dumb. It's a shame that such an intelligent woman was taught that. :(

  • Her teachers and professors remembered her as being very bright and very well-read. And JFK once said himself that she's the first woman he dated with "substance." I actually feel sorry for the Jackie haters. :(

  • Some people can't pull off New England accents. Jackie Kennedy wasn't one of those people. Absolutely wonderful.

  • Some people can't pull off New England accents. Jackie Kennedy wasn't one of those people. Absolutely wonderful.

  • I love listening to her talk with that breathy voice.

  • Believe it or not my fellow Americans, this first lady was anything but a saint. She slept with Italian car salesman, Giovanni Agnelli in early 1960 and lo and behold produced a son with him that following November. She decided to name him JFK Jr,. which really was in honor of Agnelli since he was referred to as the JFK Jr. of Italy and Giovanni is the Italian version of John. She not only lied to her husband whom she was married to at the time, but to millions of people nationwide.

  • such sweet woman, beautiful boice. I have her hair.

  • Phoeny!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This woman is nuts. She just married for money and to get into the White House.

  • @rs216016 I always just assumed she was a liberal bimbo but I realize now she was a woman of great substance. In fact,in 1961 I'd be proud to call myself a democrat but today they ain't nothin' but a fuckin' joke.

  • AS SOON AS I SAW THE COMMERCIAL I CLICK OFF! STOP IT WITH THE ADS ALREADY!

  • you damn jews and your commercials.....

  • She had such a lovely voice.

  • Her permanent smile is unnerving.

  • Thumbs up if Mad Men brought you here.

  • Where's Marilyn, Jackie?

  • STOP COMMERCIALS ON YOUTUBE FOR GODS SAKE!!! Clicking those away makes me sick! I was here to watch Mrs Kennedys tour, not a bloody shampoo or stupid mercedes commercial, I DONT GIVE A SHIT ABOUT YOUR PRODUCTS!!!

Thumbs up if commercials need to GO!

  • People can say what they want about Jackie, but she was a wonderful person who had great style.

The early 1960's was a great time, and she was a part of that.

    George Vreeland Hill

  • She has a very anoying voice..

  • Her sheer intelligence, articulation, ellagance and class is incredible!

  • @Beyonaa47 Actually, no, Ms Kennedy has a NY/New England accent. This is also fifty years ago before womens' lib and women were more lady-like then. That's all she is being, lady-like.

  • I LOve Jackie but she took Marilyn's voice and the way her face moves u can tell she's trying so hard to 1talk like that

  • @beyonaa47 That's ridiculous.

  • @mimiminou2006 How

  • I fear for all those lovely delicate pieces if that Obama woman is about near them, with her giant shovel hands, huge backside and big bony poking elbows - great lurching waterbuffalo ! hehehe

  • @n0iwont I feel I must commend on your fine economy of words. I take it you were educated where now? Yale? Harvard? One could only guess .Reading it out loud makes folks wonna take they shoes and socks if ya got 'em and pick in between yer toes. One could only imagine what kind of young'n's ya'll might have . I wouldn't concern yourself with anything of value. I would also like to point out that you seem a little puffed up with yurself. O yea ya did! Thank You for speaking for ya'll.

  • i do not like the way she talks-just my opinion -too wispy XP

  • I suspect, Obama would not have misspelt "White House". Or "Yes".

Recalibrate your definition of a gorilla Cassis2888.

  • Honest and wise men should inherit this house , that rule must have left when the Kennedys left.

  • answer for 77herman, jes, you are right.shame this gorilla in the With House now, makes no place for Queens or elegant people .

  • @Cassis2888 omg u are so right. did u see the pics of the gorilla meeting kate middleton? hideous!

  • Balls to you!

  • BAN ALL YOUTUBE ADS!

  • She speaks with such class and elegance. God Bless the Kennedys.

  • @greyhoundgirl103 Are you serious? She's creepy. The only good thing to come from her is Dr. Girlfriend on the Venture Bros., who is ironically much more feminine than this freaky overly-American barbie doll.

Not that she's thin enough or fair enough to really be a barbie, aghhh

  • @yeahjesse wtf? please go read a book about the Kennedy's and stop watching cartoons...

  • This was on Jeopardy 18 April 2011!

  • That dame had Class with a capital "C."

  • I love how she speak, so soft, rip

  • wow, MTV Cribs used to be so classy...

  • I remember seeing this when I was 14.

  • i cant believe how SMART she is, she remembers everything. its amazing shes like a walking encyclopedia on the white house!

  • @Sagwah42 she was a very bright woman and most people don't give her credit for that, which is very unfortunate.

  • @ra86226 i know I do :D <3

  • This is very scripted.

  • wow, she really is a perfect lady. knowledgeable, humble, graceful, kind, polite. First Lady? more like Wonder Woman. :)

  • i am a proud reagan conservative but have always been a fan of jacqueline kennedy. such a beautiful intelligent woman who brought such style and elegance to the white house and this nation.

  • WTF!? There's an advertisement here and it won't play. Effing advertisements!

  • @2bananasinpajamas2 I know right?! But I think if we did it would seem so colorful and idk kind'a funny looking haha. Maybe very classy actually, very elegant.

  • It's not silver china, it's gold!! lol

  • Love the hair!!

  • Okay, this might sound funny....but I feel like in the sixties, and even before that. They didn't live in color...like the people then didn't see things like we do now. Haha. It's so weird. Anyway though, I absolutely adore her. Best First Lady we've ever had, hands down.

  • @2bananasinpajamas2 LMAO How old are you? Because when i was little I believed just that. Then I learned that only film was black and white. lol

  • @kari0901 Hahaha I know it sounds ridiculous, but I seriously just can't grasp it! Like I know that it was color then, but like I can't picture it. When I think about times back then, I think either black and white or that retro coloring. Haha I'm not stupid, swear.

  • @2bananasinpajamas2 i totally get what u mean. i think the same way. i cant imagine the real things that happened back then in real life color. hahaha....

  • not real bright huh?

  • Her way of talking was so well rehearsed... LOL! Comical when you look at the fact that she was a First Lady... LOL!

  • Unfortunately, many dishonest and unwise men have ruled under the White House roof!

  • @mosaic05 Yeah, Obama is a great example of a dishonest and unwise President.

  • @rolltideroll388 No, he's actually trying to help people!

  • its so funny....she is imitating marylin monroes voice

  • Sexy voice and very cute smile

  • poor lady...she's so spacey cuz she's wondering what jfk is doing .....probably thought he was with Marilyn Monroe the whole time she was recording this...i feel for her!!

  • Compared to Ms. Onassis, Laura Bush or Michelle Obama would sound very informal if they were showing us this room. Relatively, they would sound something like this:

"THIS MA' DININ' ROOM! Check out all the seats we got. Lot's of important playas up in this joint fo' real! Love me a nice Whitehouse-cooked meal. Y'all betta reckonize da china; it'll set y'all back a couple hundred G's fo' real. Ain't nobody betta' break that."

  • @plugee Don't even compare the class of Laura Bush to Michelle Obama. Laura is very well-spoken, gentle, and a classy lady.

  • @plugee LOL. win.

  • Fairly normal Southhampton, Long Island accent and she's acting early 1960s "lady-like." That's how many people where back then. I remember the hairdo. That too was very normal in the early 1960s. Listen to her tour. It is quite informative. At this stage of the game, this is historic footage.

  • She doesn't interview very well in this. She sounds spaced out.

  • Look how tall her hairstyle is!

  • The Beales had it all over Ms jackie O!! Little edie was beautiful!!!

  • First, I wish CBS would put the ENTIRE tour up because four minutes just isn't cutting it.

Second, can't they convert the black and white into color? They did it with Shirley Temple's old B&W movies because when it comes to Jackie Kennedy, color is a necessity seriously! :)

  • frankly I think it is not solely her refined taste that leads her to redecorate white house, but always her incredible thirst for luxury.

which woman would not be contented with the white house status quo? which is already finely and lavishly decorated

  • CBS you cheap bastards. Should have filmed this on colour film, and then showed it on TV.

  • @452485 Easy 452485 ... it is also easy to read that you were not remotely around back in 1962 ... a time when television was black and white ... color TV's began to sell in large numbers in the late 1960's.

Thus...too bad Richard Nixon failed to win in 1960, get Dicky out of the way early, preferably permanently, then JFK to be filmed in color in late 60's. No Watergate, no JFK assassination, no RFK assassination, going to the Moon delayed ... Jackie not marry Aristotle Onassis. . .

  • @warrior11x11 I know there was not colour tv at that time. What I meant was film it in colour anyway, with moviecameras, with colourfilm. So that sometime in the future, you could show it in colour.

  • @452485 Thanks for responding ... clarifying your meaning ... yes, those cheap CBS bastards. Have also seen a few JFK press conferences in black and white. How much better color would have been. JFK's command of these press conferences, clearly showed how much he enjoyed press banter ... and the degree of control. i.e. If a reporter asked a sensitive question, "No Comment" is the cool response, while immediately choosing another reporter to take next question, keeping the conference moving.

  • shes so beautiful women, they killed all her family..why did they do that..shes so inocent women ever i see..now tell me who killed,it was even in usa not outside .you people just saying that muslims are killers..what about this all..they killed all kennedy family.Jews killed them.

  • This tour received an Emmy. :)

  • America used to be a great country. Now it is getting crappy with all the PC and illegals and muslims, hindus and crap from third wolrd that come here

  • @calihartley2010 Funny enough, that was to be the point of America. "Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free"

  • @WilliamTheFloydian yeahm, but now it is outdated, so take a nice look around you and you will see that they are not the real poor huddles masses, but people who pretend to be so that they can enter gain, citizenship and then destroy this country with sharia law and their hindu and latino crap.

  • oh god, her hair !!!! rofl

  • it's said that Mamie Esienhour had used pink lace from her own collection and used it in each restroom, the fireplace was shut off and not maintained causing Jackie to get angry as upon a famed dinner party it had smoke ruin her guest entire dinner and soot ruined the fab clothing, GOTTA LOVE MAMIE

  • Comment removed

  • lol did she really speak like that?

  • @1stTrillionaire Yes, she did. Before the assassination, she came across as an airhead, and afterward, as hard as nails. Neither is desirable, although both may be understandable.

  • I love her New York accent! I love it!

  • Jaqueline,Are,Was & will be the only Queen from this country......

  • @77lherman

We do NOT have a Monarchy in the USA.My ancestors fought in the American Revolution, because they did not want to be ruled by a king.

  • @77lherman "was, is and always will be" is the right way to say that, but a nice sentiment nonetheless.

  • @77lherman why did not America create a monarchy based on Kennedy dynasty

    very surprising.

  • @astridbelge bc Kennedy invaded the south

  • follow our family america

  • She was just so lovely. I can see why the world fell in love with her. I hope that most of her restorations hold today. Does anyone know if about this? A true Lady.

  • @free2drm Actually if you look up "White House" on wikipedia, there is a nice section on the Kennedy Restoration and the White House restorations/changes since. I think the room that is most intact from Jackie's restoration is the Diplomatic Reception Room (the room with the wallpaper of "scenes of America").

  • Wow ..you can actually see her cringe when Mr. Collingwood says the word, "SILVERWARE" (0:27)

  • Amazing, hearing Jackie's voice

  • Arent people who govern such glorious nobles? The rest of us are just their poor peasants, or sheeple, who look to their guidance and control

  • What a charming and adorable woman...

  • I was very young when Jackie was in the White House, so I don't remember hearing her speak on TV. It's great to hear her speaking here. One can certainly see her delight in the things she's talking about.

  • After many, many renovations to both the personal and private rooms of the White House, many of designs by Jackie have NOT been changed - enough said! Her style and tasste was unmatched!

  • @sp8211a whoops taste NOT tasste

  • Jackie was a product of high society. We are who we are, after all. What she did for the White House was a cause, and why shouldn't she beautify the place? This was how she saw things; I don't think it was to 'gratify' her; it was more the fact that she was High Class, and this was her calling, a natural direction for her. That's how I see it, anyway.

  • they say that she promotes arts, I see it only to gratify her love for luxury

  • @astridbelge You're not being fair. As part of her restoration efforts, she initiated a Congressional bill establishing that White House furnishings would be the property of the Smithsonian Institution, rather than available to departing ex-presidents to claim as their own. She undertook the project because she felt the WH should have a sense of history and grandeur. Subsequent occupants and the thousands of people who visit this historic landmark were the main beneficiaries.

  • @Seasass

in fact, jackie competes with her sister for clothes, even when she is first lady, she couldn't not stand to be overshadow even by her own sister, could such egoistical woman have the awarenes of genuinly caring for others?

anyone could see that she decorates the white house for her own pleasure, because she plans to stay there for 8 years.

  • I am so in awe of Jacqueline Kennedy, such a beautiful and elegant woman with so much charm and grace and such an incredible mind. 'One man can make a differance and every man should try.' God bless her.

  • Can any ladies out there tell me how you used to do your hair like that ? it's amazing it reminds me of photo's i have of my grandma & i used to wonder how did she get her hair as big as that

  • February 14, 1962, was the 50th anniversary of Arizona's admission to the Union, as well as being Valentine's Day.

  • if anyone is interested in seeing the whole tour, it is available on Hulu.com; I have seen it and it is just lovely.

  • Comment removed

  • i like her voice ^^

  • I'm touring the White House later this month, and I've lived my entire life in the DC area. Finally!

  • well if u hear her voice in the spanish video, it is not the same voice. in spanish her voice is not soft an in this video... hmmmm

  • Great history here -- but I always think of Vaughn Meader's comic parody of Jackie's tour ..;-)

  • I like her BUT MY DADDY WANTS TO MARRY HER!!!

  • Love the accent. It just breaks and destroys the mental image I had of her, completely. I wish she'd just emphasize it even more, in a more Bostonian way, perhaps even fit in a "schmuck" or a "parlor". That way she'd seem even more like a fish out of water.

  • High maintenance and a shopaholic!

  • It frustrates me that she attempts at copying marilyn monroe's voice.

  • This is how she spoke in public and she wasn't trying to copy marilyn cuase there are news interviews of her from the 1950s when her husband was running for Senator for Massachusetts and she sounds the same as in this video...during the time her husband was running for senator, Marilyn monroe was not that famous yet...

  • Demasiado cursi la jackie

  • I find her strange, sorry.

  • @86am yeah I've always thought that

  • lincoln is looking like he wants some nomz off that table

  • Shes beautiful and smart. :)

  • "They used to use Monroe's knives and forks."

    "And there's Monroe's beautiful centerpiece."

    LOL!

  • @musicaltheatergeek79 i'm pretty sure she's talking about pres. monroe... but that is quite the silly thought :)

  • My god, we're TOLD she was "sophisticated" but frankly she sounds DRUNK to me. This is the prototype of The Stepford Wife.

  • her voice has the extraordinary ability to piss people off

  • If you listen to her voice and her cousins voice Edith Beale from Grey Gardens they sound the same.I doubt she practiced this voice.

  • jackie channelling Marilyn Monroe

  • Sorry, but there's something disturbing about this woman. We could be forgiven if we thought she was on a cocktail of pain killers. Sedated and spacey, her manner and voice reminds me of some Stepford Wife. We've all been TOLD that she was "lovely", intelligent and spoke 5 languages. Frankly, I can find no evidence of her ever discussing anything meaningful or complex. She seems to have command of only two languages, English and French. Her Spanish was horrific, even when read off cue-cards.

  • she was trying to copy monroe!

  • a remarkable woman..

  • I admired her style/beauty/grace but I find her voice here kind of grating, forced, rehearsed almost irritating like you want to say enough already!!! - she should have just been herself which would probably been more natural and pleasant to listen to - RIP Jackie.

  • Oh Jackie! Such a lovely intelligent woman. Rest in peace!

  • Jackie tried very hard to use a "whispery baby doll voice" (claims a book I am reading) and it is very fake - she worked hard at it. She never felt beautiful, so she tried to be seducing in her voice.

  • @mkismyheart Wow! Is THAT what's going on here? My goodness, she sounds like she's on drugs. Spacey. You know, I have never read any negative about her anywhere. Yet, throughout the years, I've never seen any evidence that she was intelligent or spoke "5 languages". We're TOLD that she's "lovely" but frankly, I don't see it here. Much like Lady Di, Jackie seems to be famous for her circumstances, not because of anything she did. Her image seems to be manufactured by the press and her handlers.

  • wow! people are soooooooo stupid! hahahah do research people !

  • She was a lovely woman. Rest in peace, Mrs. Kennedy.

  • She has a FAKE voice. Dont Like it.

  • Jackie was trying to use a breathy sort of voice like marilyn's I think as a way of letting Marilyn know that she knew about her affair with her husband...she knew she was also a little jealous I think but I am a huge fan of both women

  • Umm is it me or when you look at her mouth it seems likes shes sort of retarded

  • @CREEPYANI Funny u should say that. I've been watching videos of her cousin & aunt who lived in their run down home in the Hamptons for yrs. No money. Her cousin lost her hair & was a bit off & took care of her mother. They lived in one rm really. Didn't have heat or much to eat. When it made the news. Jackie the doll her went to visit them to try & help. A little to late i think. Bunch of phonies they all r. look up Edie - Grey Gardens. There was something wrong in that gene pool.

  • That is so creepy lol. I think Kennedy married her just because of her family that's why he was cheating on her. Even the Greek couldn't stand her after a while. I'm sure she was very greedy and I don't think they were as rich as they claimed. If they were so rich she would go on crazy shopping sprees after she married Aristotle it says even he ccomplained about her spending. Someone born with that much money wouldn't act like that!!

  • classic! whatta piece of history!

  • Jackie had such a classy and sexy voice, rest her soul.

  • She has a lovely, elegant voice.

  • 4:32 "May none but honest and wise men rule under this House..."

Too bad that prayer was broken when Nixon got in office. And then again when Dubya Bush got in office.

  • She has a thick NY accent.

  • That's because you're retarded..

  • Comment removed

  • omg...

  • right, except if you were related to her you'd probably be able to spell your own surname, which would be Bouvier.

  • Comment removed

  • your fucking retarded...

  • If you look on the Onassis family tree, you will find my great-grandmother's name (Mary Bouvier), along with many of her relatives (Gerald Bouvier, Joseph Bouvier, etc.).
