Good times!! I had this on VHS. I think I had "Christmas comes but once a year" and a whole bunch on the same VHS tape. I played it so much I ended killing the tape. Wish this was on DVD :(
I have an old VHS with this on it. When I was very young I loved this and the Christmas comes but once a year cartoon, which we had on another old VHS.
My favorite part is at 2:00 when the kids are dreaming then when he puts toys in their stockings. Then they switch to other toys, it's hilarious then he goes to the Dad and he wants something too. LOL!! Makes me laugh everytime.LOL!!!
WOW! I have not seen this in well over 30-35 years! As someone said it does have a UPA feel and thought they produced it! Great find and thanks for sharing!
I live in the US and saw this somewhere. I can't remember where i remember seeing it but can't. I don't know if Nickelodeon showed it way back in the day but when i started it didn't know i was going to remember it. Thanks for posting this.
DUDE!! I grew up with this absolutely SWEET cartoon! A christmas doesn't go by without watching this at least 10 times. It brings back so many memories for me. I always wanted to live in a house like that and have an evil Jack- in- the box kidnap my other toys! Halas and Bachelor, the film company who made this short, had a way of making their cartoons extremely comfortable. Just like their other classic, The Candle Maker. I love this cartoon! Thanks for posting!
I remember seeing this when I was a wee lad. Yes, on the whole cute but the boy dreaming about getting a toy gun and Santa smoking isn't so cute. Clever though the little silent melodrama the toys act out. I wonder if that villainous jack-in-the-box inspired Zebedee in the magic roundabout in the way he leaves the box and hops about on a spring. Little Bo Peep ceases to be so concerned about her sheep and becomes Pearl White.
you know, making him all red was smart. Then he isn't a certain nationality.

Halas and Batchelor was obviously inspired by UPA like so many studios were at that time.
