How long did this take to replace and what tools do I need. I already had it replaced once and now it's doing it again, I'm doing it myself this time.
Hey my sebring is doing the same thing. All the lights turned off and the car just died. Then it came back to life. Before this happen my lights and radio would turn off for a split 2nd. Can it be the fuel pump? Its a sebring 1999 lxi.
not to insult you but chevy uses the same stupid clips not just mopar i was a fleet mechanic for chevy and ford trucks and they all com with them from factory so its not just chrysler so you know
i agree them fucking claps are a piece of fucking work. why can they just use the conventional fucking clamps the screw jobie ones. Thanks for the Video man
@Jaso0n1986 I think they (Chrysler and other auto manufacturers) use these types of "compression clamps" for the sake of speed and ease of assembly. Rather than using a traditional hose clamp that requires adjusment and tightening, a clamp that simply opens up and drops it to place eliminates the need for further handling. I would surmise this is important where the manufacturing process of a car is timed down to the second.
My 2002 Sebring has been almost stalling out randomly at stops. It'll idle fine then when I get on the gas it feels like it wants to stall until I give it a lot of gas. Also sometimes it'll not start up until I give it a lot of gas. Do you think this is a related problem?
@afp5013 that just happened to me. at stops/red lights my car would idle obviously and eventually just shut down. my mechanic changed my Idle Air Flow sensor. so far so good. i also got my camshaft replace bc my car would make a chirping sound
Hey Moldymac, I have posted a video of a sensor that oil is leaking around it, is behind the engine but i can't find it in the repair manual. do you know what it is by any chance?
i got the same car , and my widows wont go down form the back or the front passenger side. they go down if u press the button from the drivers side... what can be the problem?
@301807137 Either both switches on those affected doors are bad, which seems very unlikely that 2 would go out at once. Its probably the driver's switch panel. It controls all the other switches and has the master cut off switch.
@moldymac i know , the window lock on the driver rite?...but the thing is the light which is on top of the switches is not turned on,unlike the one on the driver side,. idk if i should just take it to the dealer ship or try to open the door panel , i dont much time or money as my schoolopens next week! any help is greatly appreciated!
@301807137 If the light isn't on either I would think there is an electrical problem somewhere. Unless you are up for spending countless hours tracing it, you might want to take it to a shop. Electrical problems are one of the biggest nightmares on cars.
@301807137 I had a similar problem and ended up finding 3 broken wires in the boot of the drivers door jamb from door to body. I had to restrip, solder and shrink tube the 3 wires. If your windows only work from the master control switch it could also be a fault in the master control switch such as the window lock switch. Normally if that is pressed, the windows will not work from the remote switches.
FWD engines are really hard for me to work on. I worked on the GF's Grand Am and my god just to replace the thermostat took me FOREVER because I could only wrench maybe 1/16th of a turn at a time and no other tool would get in the space. Even took the whole intake and throttle body off. Ahh!
@batwolf08 They are 2 different sensors, one senses the crank position, the other senses the cam position. I dont know where the crank sensor is on this engine. If it ever dies, I guess I will find out!
my 2000 Dodge Intrepid 2.7L had the same problem: would be real hard to start, loss of power at high rpm (>2500), and threw a P0340 code. Replaced the Camshaft Position Sensor ($32 AdvancedAP) and fixed the problem completely!
Hope this comment helps others with similar problems.
@moldymac Very true, but sometimes even with the right tools, some stuff's still a pain in the ass. A water pump on an older GM 3.8 liter engine that has a supercharger is a real good example.
@moldymac Craftsman makes a special pair of pliers that take those clamps off no problem. I bought a pair for like 45 bucks and used it to get those things off, then replaced them with screw type hose clamps. well worth 45 bucks! Serch sears for hose clamp pliers
Was your car slow to accelerate?? I'm sort of having that problem with my '96 Nissan Maxima. I thought it was my coils or plugs, so I changed all. Still having my "Service Engine" light on. Right now my car is very sluggish. Please check my videos of my car to see my video for better understanding. Thanks a lot.
@dawgp0und Should get the codes read first, autozone or places like them will usually do it for free. My car worked fine, except when the sensor acted it. Then it wouldn't even move, just stall if you hit the gas.
I had an 02 LXi that shut down on me three months before it was repoed....I think im gonna get another one...the water outlet housing was broken causing overheating and it shut off sometimes as well......But other than that the car was/had been great.
My friend has a 2000 Concorde w/ this engine & the same problem, but the engine is north-south, should it be easy to get to? I have a video but stupid youtube won't let me post the URL in with my comment because they suck!!
Also, I am not the most " Mechanical inclined". I just learned some from experience. I am more into the gym/sports and books, never hit the mechanics. So I am not great with mechanics. I have never owned a ford, besides my explorer which I am gettin rid of, cause I think the chain is going bad soon.
Hey man, I am debating between getting a Sebring convert 2002 or a 2001 convert. 3.8 mustang. I hear the 2.7 engines are bad. I like sebring interior, luxurious. Also, a mustangs seats in the back as small as feck. However, which one do u think is better bro? I used to drive a lebaron GT convert..lol. It was bad, it blew piston rings, some seonsors went. Although to replace the engine woulda been cheap, but I didnt. I like sebrings, but not sure about chrysler cause of lebaron. Advise?
i think they purposely make these newer cars harder to work on for these reasons: 1. so people would be more tempted to take the car to the place were they bought it 2. because robots assemble these so they have tighter tolerances.
i use a small pair of plyers on those clips, break them, then replace with the screw clamps...2.7's are known for blown head gaskets and that shitty water valve thingie with the shrouder valve on it...made of plastic that has coolent go through, alwayse breaking....dodge is a POS!!
They sell a cable clamp tool with a long cable on it to reach into tight places and open up the clamps. Really nice tool, had to borrow one to do work on a Nissan.
I forgot to ask you how much the new sensor was. Any chance you live in Redding, Ca. LOL

so these cam sensor gave your more power and acceleration???
I have detected 4 codes on moy 1996 chevy truck, cam sensor , crank sensor , mass air flow sensor, oxygen sensor
my truck runs but has a very low MPG , the muffler smells way too much like unburn gasoline, poor acceleration, lacking power.
what should I try first??
