Thanks for your thoughts....Chad & Jeremy have always been one of my favorites from that first wave of British artists to land on our shores in '64......I'm lucky enough to be a docent at the "Rock and Roll Hall of Fame" and it's always a joy to see the love people have for this era and the great music it produced ....Happy New Year and let the music the play.............
I was just thinking this week of going to school and comparing notes with all the other girls on the premiere episode of the Patty Duke Show. We loved it! This episode was fabulous. Didn't they have such pleasant voices?
This is one of my personal favorite Patty Duke Show episodes! I became a die-hard Chad and Jeremy fan after seeing this when I was younger. This song is also one of my favorite Chad and Jeremy songs. Thanks for introducing them to me Patty Lane! You Rock Girl!!
I'm surprised that no one mentioned that the middles part of this song is a direct copy of The Beatles Hold Me Tight..................the part that goes "so hold.(hold) me tight(me tight) tonight(tonight) it's you.............you you you!!!!
I much prefer this song to "Hold Me Tight", and I never noticed the similiarities, but I think you're right... I played it for my brother (and without knowing your comment) he immediately said, "Sounds like the Beatles' 'Hold Me Tight'!"
Patty, you got the beat and you rock, that's all that matters! So Patty brought us Chad & Jeremy? What ambassadorship! Hail To The Chief, Patty For President!
Too bad they didn't have room on the set for the lead guitarist and drummer, Jimmy Page & Bobby Graham! This track was produced by Shel Talmy and the distinctive Page/Graham stylings are all over his work from '63-'65. This is possibly the most rockin' track C&J ever cut.
Oh yeah, Ross was an excellent engineer too! Too bad Patty f'ed up the take with her out of tempo bunk bed bashing....
Yes, those days existed, but all too briefly. I was young, VERY young in fact, but I had older brothers and cousins so I remember the British Invasion. In the early 70's true prog rock existed, but all too briefly. In the mid to late 80's quality so called new age music existed, but again (stop me if you have heard this) all too briefly. It's a shame that so often true quality doesn't last. But thankfully C&J are still going strong today. I hope they continue for many years to come.
Did those days really exist ? It seems like a dream these days.....What fabulously innocent and joyous times they were....The music was the best and it never fails to uplift when I need a little boost....some of the best times of my life in the 60's...
@SMITHFRANK - just stumbled onto this clip of Chad & Jeremy on The Patty Duke Show. Yes, those days really did occur. . . does seem like just an illusion watching television these days, doesn't it? Oh, well. We do have the memories and, thank goodness, the films. Best Wishes To You.
It seems as though anytime an American sitcom was in need of a British rock group (or a reasonable facsimile thereof), they called upon C&J. In one case, however, Jeremy Clyde appeared solo, on an episode of "My Three Sons" as Chip's visiting British clasmate who'd rather play classical than rock guitar.
And Chad & Jeremy were also on "The Dick Van Dyke Show," an episode in which "Rob & Laura Petrie" hide out the folk-rock duo at their home on "Bonnie Meadow Road" in New Rochelle, NY called "The Redcoats Are Coming! The Redcoats Are Coming!" (an allusion to the first "British Invasion"). Unfortunately, the big mouth of neighbor "Mille Helper" results in a "Teenybopper Invasion."
Yes, L&M actually gave "From a Window" to Billy J Kramer, THEN C&J covered it. They were in the habit of passing away alot of their weaker songs. There's an album of all L&M's leftovers --"Lost Songs of Lennon & McCartney"
Bring it back was it on air. Last I heard TV land didnt want TPDS. Rumor has it that Sony has the publishing rights to the show as they do to most 60s sitcoms. For now We must pray!
I saw this on the Patty Duke show when it first aired! The episode was "Patty Pits Wits, Two British Hits." The reason the camera focused on her hands was that she "ruined" their home recording by slapping the wood. I missed that it was actually a studio recording with drums anyway but the sound on the old b/w TV wasn't so great! Great fun seeing this again. Chad & Jeremy also appeared on Batman doing "Distant Shores."
That is so funny. As soon as I saw the still from this clip Nigel and Patrick just popped into my head. How could I remember that when i can barely remember the name of my kids?
I agree with you SmithFrank, I was also kid in the 60's.

I understand that the full-length version runs about a minute longer. This is great, but I bet the complete recording is greater!

Such a classic episode.
"Do you know what we call this England?" *pointing to a chair*
"No, what?"
"A chair."
What makes this so funny to me is that he says it with an American accent. Classic TV, that is....

Some of their songs have a Beatlelish sound to them. I've heard that the Beatles have written some songs for these guys.
BluntFella 4 years ago
Most of the music in that era of the British Invasion had the same sound, think Gerry and the Pacemakers, Peter and Gordon ...
queenannegrl 4 years ago
No, The Beatles wrote a song for Peter and Gordon,Paul McCartney was dating Jane Asher, Peter Ashers sister. "World Without Love"
tooslimnc 4 years ago
Chad & Jeremy DID record "From a Window," which Lennon & McCartney wrote. Billy J. Kramer & the Dakotas had a hit with it first, though.
