That's the point. A Rat Rod is a Hot Rod without the visual candy, hence being driveable. It has the bare essentials needed to be driven and the people that build them do drive them. You don't see anyone driving their Hot Rod around everywhere they go, that's because a Hot Rod is show eye-candy; a Rat Rod is driven eye-candy without the glazed-sugar coating.
