WoW altered the genetic composition of many MMO gamers. They became annoying, immature, whiney, and turned into loot whores. WoW must die.

@maegyssa Those same types of folks can be found within the world of Everquest. When sony released the most recent server, you were able to witness those folks first hand, outside of the trade/gen channel even. I enjoy the company of people in EQ more than WoW though. Not certain as to why really.

I cant remember the year but i know there was a record they tried to break, i think it was about having 100,000 people online at once, they sent a message in game asking everyone to contact their friends to help break the record. it might have been about 2004 to 2006, I remember being in Velious at the time, close to Ftos.

Would love to see them make a Movie though, Sonys problem is they dont advertise the games as well as other companys, EQ1 was a really good game and still decent.

@spiritse The 100K thing had to have been in 2003 or so because I remember logging on to be a part of it, but I wasn't playing EQ in 2004. I don't think Sony/Verant/EQ was the initator of the request...I think it was a board posting from a member that went viral.

Wow is for 10 yr olds and younger. Srsly compare gameplay and graphics, IF YOU HAVENT PLAYED YOU DONT KNO, i play eq2 and i tried wow, i played for rly about 10 mins then deleted to little kidish.

I played UO and EQ and WoW. Hell, I even played M59 for a while but with work and family, I dont have time for old school EQ. Corpse runs taking hours. No thank you.

But I will say this. No game even comes close to the fear you had in EQ. In unrest, if someone yelled HAG the zone cleared. That evil eye in that zone with canyon near East Karana, Holy shit that was scary.

I dont ever want to play EQ again but man the memories of that game rocks.

I miss EQ.i left after velious. It was tough game but the greedy people(pay for a SoW etc,etc) made it all that more annoying.

But for a movie penned by the writer of 300? Will it be animation or live action? If its gonna be live Its gonna, drum roll plz: Suxxors! On the same token so will a "live action" WOW movie.

@DMaustrap, you left at a good time, the game started going downhill from there. Although I don't agree with you about charging for SoW, I played a druid and ports and buffs were the only way to ever make money for that class. I will say that I didn't actually charge for SoW, I would buff ppl along with casting it and only asked for a donation.

I loved Everquest a long time ago (I stopped playing after the 3rd expansion) but all this WoW hate is a bit misplaced.

After playing many MMOs i found the most interesting aspects of the genre to be PvP and raiding. WoW simply does both a whole lot better.

However the experience of leveling up a character and grouping in dungeons was far more rewarding in Everquest.

A movie could be huge (even amongst non-fans since they need only a love of fantasy), sequel upon sequel huge, but I wouldn't expect much. It would require a serious writer with more respect for the original world than people like Peter Jackson have for Tolkien (those films were barely held together by the perfection in the stories he couldn't easily ruin). The other half is the music, but what common composer would understand preserving (well) the midi-esque feel done so well by Barbeau?

EQ...used to be hard, but they are starting to dumb it down....alot.

For example, there is no more corpse runs, you now spawn with all your armor, and all your gear....very WoW like...WoW is for little kids no doubt, but with the drastic changes of EQ, soon will be said of even EQ with the simplicity of it.

If some miraculous turn of events happened and vanilla EQ was revived... OMFG.... All I can say is my dream would be real =P I would absolutely LOVE to play vanilla eq again. also - completely agree with supmayne1. That's another reason EQ was amazing, there was rarely childish banter and it was, for the majority, fairly intelligent.
