  • Content with my stuff all my life. I'm set for that. Need to make myself up a fast food rehab. Damn.

  • Live and eat at HOME!!! :-)

  • I love the part where Joel said "be content with what you have" That is how we are trying to be, just content with what we have. Michael needs a newer vehicle, I need a new computer and there are always things we want and need, but sometimes they have to wait. STAY AWAY FROM CREDIT CARDS! I couldn't agree more and I can't wait to have them paid off (we had a few emergencies and no emergency fund). There is my tip, have a emergency fund! :)

  • @HeyThatsHolly When Dana and I started living on a written budget and paid off all our debt, we definitely were hit with the "contentment factor" pretty hard. We still are from time-to-time just because of the society we live in, but a couple trips to Haiti and Mexico last year fixed us of that for a good while.

And yeah, definitely need to have that emergency fund in cash in the bank, not on a credit card or way too many emergencies come up.

  • One answer that no one wants to hear: BUDGET! It takes a budget to make it. The last thing a college student wants to do is plan ahead, but a budget will allow you to plan for the coming month. Use the Ramsey envelope system. If the money is there, you can use it; if not, then you have to wait or sacrifice. Just some thoughts.

  • There is a TON of stuff that you can do for free at college, from college activities to parks to stuff with friends. Take advantage of all the free stuff that's out there.

Also, write to companies. My friends wrote to Ramen Noodle with a thank you letter for things like "providing us with consistent goodness while the women in our lives have not." They got tons of free stuff - Ramen Noodle packs, cups, hats, etc. Companies love college students, and being thanked.
