Hey guys today on the news NASA PROVED that there IS water on mars. I just saw it. =)

You know, i love NASA and all that they stand for. But this mission was nothing more than a waste of money. All that everyone wants to know is, IS THERE LIFE ON MARS? Not, does the soil have certain ingredients, not, is there water, which you already knew there was. But IS THERE LIFE? And this lander has no way of telling. Stop with these stupid robots that break down and get some people up there to answer the only question everyone has.

Actually, we were NOT sure there was water on Mars, and this proof opens up many doors for NASA and the future of Mars exploration. The presence of water could allow the remote production of fuel through electrolysis or other chemical reactions, allowing a feasible cost and size mission (estimates for a manned Mars mission before this discovery were around half a trillion dollars!) So, you see, this mission is not a waste of money, it is actually saving money.

Robots that break down? Do you realize that some of the previous robots are still alive, years after they arrived? It's difficult to develop robots that can withstand the conditions of Mars. Getting folks up there is still years away.

Im not knocking Spirit or Opportunity. They have more than filled their expectations. But a lander like this isnt doing much. Its arm short circuits, it cant sprinkle the muddy soil in properly, and in the end all that came from it is they found traces of water there and they already knew that. The other tests, 1 says you can grow plants there, the next says no. So the end result is, we still dont know squat. This mission was a waste IMO. Get people up there. It CAN be done, stop milking it!
