  • weezer is awesome i saw them live it was one of the greatest concerts i saw

  • no matter what weezer does they will be great at what they do. if you havent noticed, their albums always change. this is just another one of their changes. either your a weezer fan or not.

  • 1.34 sounded like a horny cat..

  • Now if you aren't totally uninformed, then you will note that Paper Face was originally slated to appear on the Blue Album, which came out in 1992, seems to be that some of the songs were written before 2008 now doesn't it?

  • @filmexperiment Sure you're not thinking of "The Prettiest Girl in the Whole Wide World"? Written in 97, re-recorded for Raditude in 09?

Either way, not sure where you're getting the info that this is from the 90s - as others have said, it says right in the Alone 2 liner notes that this was written in 2008 by Jermaine Dupri, and Rivers reworked it a handful of times until it became what it is. It does not date back further than 2008. Get your facts straight before you start screaming at people.

  • this is NOT a new song, its from the 90's that rivers wrote and recorded in a much better way before he became such a horrible artist and sell out, it has just been recently ruined by that sad excuse for an album they called Ratitude

  • He wrote and recorded the acoustic demo in 2008 you fucking idiot.

  • @MistaRowland You seem to think that you know what you are talking about, but you are really a fucking idiot who doesn't know how to check facts. He wrote and performed it in the 90's. The album he finally released it on came out as Alone II in 2008. Pre Make Believe, when the band first started to become shitty, it was always performed as either a rock song or acoustic solo, never as a shitty dance theme.

  • Holy shit, you're so fucking stupid. JERMAINE DUPRI GAVE HIM THE LYRICS AND RIVERS WROTE THE CHORDS. Jesus, you are definitely trolling. The first time he performed it live (aside from the hootenanny show he did) was in 2009. You're such an ill-informed moron.

  • Dude, he knows EXACTLY what he's talking about. The song was written with Jermane Dupri in 2008. The Alone demo reflects this in the liner notes and it's very well known to Weezer fans.

  • @MistaRowland The fact that you think because the album came out in 2008, that it was written then is completely fucking stupid and false. Rivers has written and recorded over 800 supposed unreleased songs in his career. He just finally released the Alone Volume II, which also had the song Paper Face.

  • I'm well aware of that. The songs in the Alone II liner notes are presented in the order that they were written in. This one is the last one presented. Because it was written in 2008. Now shut up.

  • Some of you "fans" are idiots. I'm not a big Weezer fan, but the first time I heard this song in it's original version, I got the joke. How can you not? The sarcasm is best delivered in the recorded version because the sound is so NOT Weezer. I suspect that some of you would be shocked and appalled at what might be playing in Rivers Cuomo's car stereo or in his music collection. I think you're funny.

  • Rivers himself says the song is not a joke or ironic in any way. He wants it to be taken completely seriously as a depressing, dark song.

  • they should have done a rock version like this for the cd instead of the techno one, even though its not pinkerton, its still weezer and still awsome

  • i like in the mall . wtf weezy come on your not fucking whats her face from 80's pop and i never saw you as pop even if these other fags do... unfortunatly only now with this new in the mall crap do i see there point.... would say thanks but... if your pop are the beatles pop also? /cry ftw

  • They're almost making fun of the whole "partying scene" nowadays.

  • no there not lol not at all

  • i think even tho that just ok quality of the video this is hands down the best version

  • hands fuckin down best version

  • amen, moleboy

  • damn it, what happend to you weezer? Excuse me while I go listen to the blue album and cry.

  • I dont understand the hate for this song, its awesome and hilarious - its just a spoof! I doubt he is serious

  • but the fact that they now put it into a dance remix and it gets played at clubs where people are partying... they may have had different intentions when they made it but i think it can be confusing if people are taking them seriously.

  • JoshTemple is right... weezer has always taken what is pop... made it weezer and made it awesome... i still remember the first time i heard say it aint so...honestly it was a musically life altering experience..... but the music out now will never give a shot to another blue album or pinkerton... they were just the perfect album for their times... but they took the "pop sound" and weezed it up... and there is again nothing i would rather listen too

  • Weezer has ALWAYS been a pop band. People need to get that in their heads. Pop has what's changed in the past 15 years. Weezer has changed with it.

I personally love this song. It's one of maybe 3 songs I like on the new album.

  • lol three songs... that is saying something. i love every fucking song on their blue album. not a a single bad song.

  • yeah the red albums great man

  • in my opinion, "Make Believe" started to push it a little bit, and then they broke up, and by the time they got back together all their "Weezerness" was practically gone. I mean like it's disappointing. don't get me wrong I do like a few songs on the red album and Raditude but it's just not the same. BUT I still love Weezer :) =W= forever!

  • lil' wayne? really?

  • not making a scene mannn im just annoyed that they sing THIS now. and their whole album is like this, i bought it sadly. i loveee weezer their old stuff is awesome. but their new stuff sucks.

  • I agree. not the weezer I've always known and grown up with.

  • now that they are more popular they are changing they way they sing. now its too much like pop.

  • It kills me how many people don't understand sarcasm and are saying Rivers has lost his writing skills. This song is clearly poking fun at all those club songs about drinking, partying and being surrounded by girls.

    God people, grow some brains.

  • i still love all Weezer songs.

  • weezers old stuff was 1000 times better.

  • I blast this album! Its best with the pod, but i could put all the weezer albums on shuffle and call it a day, when im in the mood. They're true artists nothing is lost with Raditude, its the perfect name. Im just glad weezer is still putting in work, the music gods are so few these days and weezer is one i bow thanks to

  • I dig it! and as far as you old fans go....these guys are a lot older now, can you honestly expect the music to stay the same? Learn to grow with the band. If you're a musician, think back just 5 years maybe even 2 years, heck maybe even one year ago...are you still playing the same exact music? People grow. I love the old stuff too but I also dig the new stuff and I think Rivers is the shit!

  • Weezer has always just been awesome

  • irony, idiots

  • wat

  • All yall quit bitching, if you listen closely enough to the song you will hear a lot of 90s weezer in here. Its a good song, is it a bit commercial? Yes, of course, but who cares it sounds good and it sounds like the good ole weezer from the 90s that we all love so much

  • It doesn't sound anything like 90's Weezer. I don't know what the hell you're smoking.

  • weezer has sucked for a while now.. Its just been gradual so lots of folks haven't noticed. This song is a far cry from their 90s stuff.

  • Ever since the release of the Green Album in my opinion.

  • lol. I got negatives out the ass.. I love how having your own opinion is such a BAD thing on Youtube. Anyways.. I guess its kinda like when Chris Cornell did the album with Timbaland.. Iconic musician get tired on doing the same shit and want to see what its like to suck ass every once in a while.

  • Yeah, no kidding. It's mostly people who started liking Weezer after Make Believe came out. All I know is I miss their old sound. The new Weezer is shit, and it kills me to type that. They were the first band I ever really loved. I'm sure Rivers has some good lyrics left in him, but if he'd rather write garbage like this, let him.

  • I have been a huge weezer fan since second grade and this pisses me off more than the new millions of fans could ever know.

  • Well I'm an individual (like eveybody else) and I hate bands as soon as they become commercially viable. If they appeal to the masses they're just not COOL anymore... Get real lamoids, weezer are better now then they have ever been. This will become an R&B number 1 but that doesn't make it any less of a great song and diminishes Rivers work in no way whatsoever. Leave the good bands like weezer for the rest of us and move on to the next cabbage leaf band!

  • actually.. yes it does. You see, the masses LOVE crap for the most part. Brittney Spears has proven this. Prime time TV has proven this. Recent movies like Transformers have proven this. People don't think for themselves anymore. Tell them its cool and they'll agree. Que the laugh track and people will say its hilarious even when its not. I'm not saying this song out right sucks. but its just nothing compared to their old stuff. Whatever fuels great music at first is lost with fame and $

  • This version sucks. The album version sucks just as bad but in a totally different way.

The Alone II version is the only good version of the song - go look for it NAOW.

  • I agree so hard. This version is acceptable, at least it has a gritty edge to it. But the album version is one of the worst songs I've ever heard, and it makes it all the more disappointing when the Alone II version is so good.

  • i think its cool weezer is always on the cutting edge of doing something new. people can't expect a sequel to blue album everytime they come out with new material.

and also, i think its natural to dislike something as soon as it comes out, maybe give it a week or two, you might find yourself enjoying it

  • I don't understand why everyone is dissing Weezer, I am a big fan of Weezer, but people have to understand they are not gonna make another album that sounds like Blue or Pinkerton. They have changed over time, artists are allowed to do that! I have listened to Raditude, it is great if you are open minded, don't listen to it if you are expecting it to sound like the Blue album!!!!

  • * If this song describes your "entire" life like it does mine, in one song.

I think we need Re-Hab. Join me. ^_^

  • Weezer has been declining since they formed. The Blue Album was fantastic and the Red Album was truly awful. This song sounds like their death knell.

  • Yah, i kinda was a hardcore Weezer fan, but this is boring rock shit. What are they doing?

  • no doubt! have you heard the summer 2000 songs? or any of the dozens of their unreleased stuff from before the green album? thats the best ever, along with blue and pinkerton. rivers went from one of the best lyricists to one of the worst. no imagination at all. google that summer songs 2000 if you dont know what im talking about, great stuff.

  • oh nice, good advice. I'll definitely do that. thanks man.

  • seriously clark????? the version of this song on alone II is great. this is CRAP. utter CRAP

  • lil Wayne's line in this song is so sick! and so what if he's in a weezer song rivers cuomo wanted him to be in it

  • why weezer why did you put lil wayne on this song and made it poppy :[

  • what the fuck is wrong with pop you narrow minded cunt.

  • nothing is wrong with pop its not there style why you gotta make a scene jeez kid

  • This song is awful. Absolutely awful.

  • I really hope its like this, don't really like the other version...I mean its ok...but please let it be this version

  • the beginning on the recording kinda sounds like AFI

  • Comment removed

  • nah, this song just sucks (among a few others). They do have some really good stuff, though.

  • The studio version is complete shit and sounds like bad R&B, this couldv been the best song on the album if they recorde it like this

  • how do you know they didn't record that like this? raditude didn't leaked yet,,,

  • Because everyone heard all the 30 sec samples from amazon and itunes last monday and this song sounds like somethin off the R &B top 40

  • Well gues what it did leak, and it does sound shit. Oh look it's Lil' Wayne what are you doing in a Weezer song?..

  • it leaked today, and song is fantastic. so what if lil wayne is in song?

  • I really don't think the concept of the song is bad. On Cuomo's album Alone II it's really quite good as an acoustic number and it's not bad as a rock song here. What I can't understand is the ridiculously bad version on Raditude.

  • I thought Beverly Hills was supposed to be ironic and tongue in cheek at first as well, but that later proved to be naive. Rivers later said that it stemmed from real feelings. So based on precedent, I disagree that this song is meant to be ironic as well. I can only think that it's genuine.

  • u sir are 100% correct...listen to the album version...its like t=pain shld be singing instead of weezer...i tht it could be dark and awesome...but not soo much

  • I wrongly thought the same thing about Beverly Hills as well.

  • Irony doesn't make this song good. A bunch of Weezer songs now are about partying and living the high life, but they're supposed to be "ironic". It doesn't make them good songs. They're impossible to listen to.

  • Weeeeeeeeeeezeeeeeeeeer

    =W=

  • If you want to hear how bad they butchered the album version of this pretty good live version, check out the sample that's up on Itunes now

  • WORD

  • I doubt the final version with lil wayne will ever be better than this

  • i said it before lil wayne is really good at changing the way he raps to fit the music he is doing dont believe me check out down by wayne and jay sean, lil waynes hot revolver and fall out boys tiffany blews ft. wayne

  • There's something disingenuous about this song, does anyone else sense it? Feels like it's contrived to sell more to the Disney-gay pop crowd, I dunno. These guys are all ages 39-44, and three of them have kids. You think they run around LA with a poss? Just seems silly. It's the kind of thing they used to make fun of.

  • if you know the song's history it's supposed to be ironic

  • It's more than likely tongue in cheek don't you think? Makes sense

  • i like this version bc its somewha dark...i will wait to judge how lil waynes inclusion effects this song...btw rivers loves this song...

  • Lil Wayne cameo on this shit. Destined for chart greatness.

  • fuck no, weezer plus lil douchebag=over-produced piece of shit song like the red album. leave it like this

  • more rock less pop...

  • man i highly doubt that lilwayne will ruin this song because if you hear him on fall out boy's tiffany blews he isnt rapping hes being too cool and its my favorite part of the song

  • That was uncalled for. Way to be a douche.

  • The album version should just sound like this because this is awesome! Lil Wayne is just going to shit all over this song if he's in it.

  • It's confirmed, Rivers did an interview with MTV where he said that Lil Wayne was going to be on this song.

  • this might be wikipedia bullshit but apparently LIL WAYNE is gonna be featuring in this song on raditude! thats fucking retarded!

  • Lil Wayne is actually featured on the album version of this. Believe it or not its true.

  • can't wait for Raditude.

  • The breakdown is a nice touch.

Cool to have the depressed side (Ecstasy will do that too you) of the partying life versus the fun one (band/electric)

  • they should've have kept the original lyrics

"Gotta Have Patron, Gotta have the E"

but yeah... not really radio friendly...

  • That's true. What is it now:

"Gotta have the bowl, gotta have the beat" ?

  • this one and the other are equal.

    but this one is tight

  • =w= Wish they would come to England =w=

  • Essa música é do cd alone do rivers ¬¬"

  • Intro/Outro = The Police

  • Hmm... I didn't know The Police had a patent on a 6 note pattern in an F#maj Scale. Have to be careful for that next time im writing a choral part...

  • The bridge reminds me a lot of that from 'True Blue' by Madonna. Just saying.

  • sounds a little like pork and beans, don't it?

  • the alone 2 version's better, but i still like this

  • haha... its bad... i like it...

  • this is awesome! new weezer is gonna rock! i cant wait for the CD to come out

  • It =w= rocks

  • Eh. It's alright. I kinda think they ruined the point of the song by adding the cheery sounding "woo"s in the chorus and whatnot. I liked the sad, lamenting tone of the Alone version a lot more than this. I just think it needs to be toned down a little bit.

  • I think it's cool ...

  • sorry correction pinkerton

  • Its Catchy but I'll hang on to Pikerton

  • Nerds don't party... :(

I see that I am no longer in their target market.

  • nerds don't have enough sex to be tired of it either...

  • lmao

  • I think this song is supposed to be ironic more than anything... I like it just for the pure cheesyness.

  • sweet! I am excited to hear the new album. Anyone know if more songs from the Alone recordings are gonna be on it?
