  • 80's was amazing and maybe the best period in motorsports. Turbos in Formula 1, group B in rallying and in sports car races there was full line of closed-top prototypes without GT class. Not that I'd be against open-top prototypes or GT cars, but for me a closed-top prototype is the top in non-openwheel racing.

  • I was standing right next to the radar gun when the Corvette came through at 205.7. Sarel had the tail hanging out coming out of the esses. Spectacular!

  • Great post. That Corvette was bad fast. I sure do miss those cars. It was strange to see the cars go down the back straight with out the chicane.

  • This is awesome! I've been trying to find videos from the glory days of Group C!

  • female racing announcer? unheard of in 2010, let alone 87!

  • This race was held on July 5th, my friend and I were standing at the last corner right before the beginning of the back straight when the Nissan's right rear tire blew up and scattered pieces of debris towards us almost hitting us. Thats the closest i ever witnessed a crash. I still have pictures that I took of this race. This is the first time I saw this race since it was held. Do you have more of it? Thanks for posting it!!

  • Bob Varsha, Lyn St. James and Gary Lee.
