i'm impressed. I really like this Phantom version, though i like ALW's, too :) the funniest think is that i discovered this musical, this version in japanese :D
Fantastic! I love the show and music, i cry EVERY time... your voice is angelic, for sure. Please post as many songs as you can. Wow, Maury would be so impressed.
This is very good! I love this version of The Phantom of the Opera--ironically enough, I discovered it when I went to see it in NC a year ago, thinking it was Andrew Lloyd Webber's version. I have to say I prefer this version. It has a more magical score, better characters, and a deeper story.
I'll be posting more clips eventually - my vid capturing equipment is out of commission at the moment (this was filmed on analog tape, needs to be converted for upload).
my friend introduced me to this show and now we are doing this song for A Night for Jason at our school, scene, costumes, and everything. I can't wait!
@BigFatFairy1970 You are so right! Finally someone has said it! This is a much better story, and total explanation of why the Phantom is why he became the way he is. I have always wanted to be in this show, playing his father. Too bad this show was not produced first. It would be the famous show it deserves to be!
I went to the strand to see some shows there when I was younger. I remember when this was there but I was not able to go. I did get to see a great production of Evita there! Makes me nostalgic.
such a lovely song! I'm glad I discovered this musical... ALW's will always be my absolute favorite version of phantom, but it's always great listening to other version. This version is just full of magic. :)
This is footage of the R.T.G. Productions staging of "Phantom" at the Strand Theater in Lakewood, NJ in 1995. The cast was a combination of Equity (the three main leads) and Non-Equity (we the chorus) performers. I admit the voices do sound somewhat like the original cast recording, but it's not them.
Yeah I remember during the production I wasn't sure if she was doing it out of habit or what - some singers see other people with bad physical habits and pick them up without even realizing it. She clearly has the technique to sing the song, so I dunno why her breathing technique would be faulty.
I'm not sure her technique is faulty. She just picked up a bit of a bad habit. A vocal coach should have told her to keep her body " quiet". Still she delivers in a fine way.
Lovely song. I love both this and the ALW version

I like this Phantom much better than Andrew Llyod Webber's. It has better music, a better story, and better charatcers.

The voices are good, but Christine keeps raising her shoulders when she takes a breath. I'm splitting hairs, I know...

she has some pronunciation issues as well.
also i think that she has some issue with breath control.
there's no reason that she should need to be breathing that often.
