  • god i remember this! the girl...!

  • By the way, long-overdue thanks for posting this PiLfan. This was the first classic Sesame Street clip I ever searched for on Youtube, back when my son was 3. He's at the top of his class almost six years later in part thanks to the effort of folks like you who care enough to post the lessons we'd learned back when we were young.

  • Hmm...around 1975, I musti've seen this. Ha ha

  • hìhí_ì_fÈël_sO_lònËlY_toÐÂY

  • i came here because in revolution nine this video was in the suggestions. this in no way relates to john saying number 9 about 14 times

  • number 9, number 9, number 9, number 9, number 9,...

  • i always wannted the number of the to be how old i am

  • Love this!

  • nine hairs - bitch is bald headed!

  • Comment removed

  • I remember this! <3

  • I love this one. Always have.

  • saying that number 9 is the number of satan is one of the most ignorant things ive heard today. wtf is wrong with you?? number 9 is not 6 upside down. its the number 9. and there is no link whatsoever between satan or the number 9 nor the number 6, for God created the world in 6 days and rested on the 7th. are u stupid?

  • ok. well sorry...

  • @xXMasterCheifzXx No Your Just Stupid

  • @GoIdengirl39 no actully i was waisted when i watched this

  • @herelittlebunny Search Up Revolution 9 You'll See why he's saying this

  • hahahahahah youre funny

  • Awesome, but not as good as The Ladybugs' Picnic

  • änn <3 du bist spitze

  • That's demonic. Next ~

  • this used to be my favorite!!:D

  • 123...

  • Does anyone know where to find the one where the chef falls down the steps with a giant cake? I love that one too.

  • It's on the Old School Sesame Street Volume 1

  • i remember watching this when i was younger...this was one of my favorite episodes

  • In my house Spanish, English, and Arabic were spoken and all of us children could read and write before we started grade school. Children are very smart and are more than able to learn multiple languages. Stop selling your children short.

  • She has 9 arms

    Thats 1 of her charms

    Each just like the other

Some people say she looks like her dad

Some say she looks like her mother

    She has 1

9 little toes on her foot

    She doesnt go shopping

    Cos she doesnt like hopping

So usually she just stay foot

  • 1 9 She's a real martian beauty My number 9 cutie She has 9 hairs on her head 1 9 Tied up in ribbons of red She has 9 little eyes All the same size Looking up down, round & Straight ahead She has 9 little holes in her 2 dot nose She snorres when she goes to bed
  • I remember this! Aw, good stuff. ((:

  • Knowing another language is obviously required in these times. When the world is connected as it is, it will come useful in many situations to know French or Spanish or German. I believe that children should start learning a modern language at, say, 7 or 8. Not something like 5 or 6. Like others have pointed out, they won't be very skilled in their own language at that point.

But apart from the language debate, I remember this skit on my Sesame Street video. Ahh, the good old days.

  • TheBlueFlamingo, thank you. How many times have I thought that? How many, and still have not written it, have not bothered, thinking that they would just ignore me anyways...

The world needs more people like you.

Y'know, people who use that goopy stuff in their skullbone.

  • this is gay.

  • Yes, the video has romantic and sexual tendancies toward other videos of the same gender. How do you tell the gender of a video and its sexual orientation, anyway? Or do you mean the video is happy? I doubt videos are able to feel emotions.

  • This is good, but "The King Of 8" is by far the best..... "So I love 8, 8 is great, 8 is the number I do not - wait important news comes from the queen, a new baby and I have seen that she is well and doing fine...Good grief it's princess number nine!"

    Crash!

  • I still have this on my old video tape of sesame street :) Classics

  • did anybody besides me have this oldschool toy that was like an animated viewmaster? you had to turn a crank and you could watch this vignette(without sound of course), or other sesame street things, or mickey mouse, or whatever you happened to have a cartridge for...?

  • I had that viewmaster :D

I had Aladdin for it though.

Wish I could've had Sesame Street cartridges haha

  • you know what makes me so sad, is sesame street isn't good anymore. i mean take cookie monster for exapmle. he now eats vegetables rather than cookies! and they have homo monsters now. and hispanic monsters. even though i want born when the classics were made. i wish i was because the classics are the best!

  • you say Hispanic like if its a bad thing

  • no no no... i'm just saying, i don't think we should learn spanish. kids have enough troble with english as it is

  • so you are against shows like Dora the Explorer and Ni Hao, Kai-Lan?

the Spanish monsters on sesame street only teach kids one or two words, its not like if the whole thing is in Spanish.

  • yes i think their dumb

  • ok this confirms it you're a racist

  • fuck u. i just dont think kids in this country should speak spanish. english is our language

  • lol you crack me up. you rather your kids cuss like sailors than learn how to saw "apple" in Spanish or any other language.

  • i dont have kids. plus i kinda have a habbit of saying cuss words. i'm sorry

  • It's cool ^_^

  • Not everything said is meant to be as rascist. It's not nice to throw accusations out when someone only voices their opinion. Everyone has that right.

  • Sorry, spelled 'racist' wrong..

  • what do you call someone who is against teaching kids another language?

  • Ignorant of course. But that is their opinion. But how is an ignorant someone, who is voicing their opinion, made into a world issue by playing the racist card? No one can stop another's opinion.

  • English may be your language (although you seem to have a lot of difficulty with it) but it's not eveyone's language. If you don't want to speak Spanish it's okay, but why protest others speaking it?

  • ok sorry..

  • i agree with you. kids these days have enough difficulty learning their own language. i don't think it's a racist thing, i have no problem with hispanics. i just think kids should learn their own language before another language. at least not be forced to it. good for them if they decide to learn it later on, though.

  • Tell me about it! At the time I watched Sesame Street, we didn't have cable TV, so I only saw American Sesame Street sometimes, when I was at someone else's house who had cable.

But here in Canada, our Sesame Street was full of french, and even as a kid, I hated it LOL

But think about it. Why the hell would they have all that french in a show broadcasting on an Anglo TV channel, in Anglo Canada? Save that french crap for Quebec lol

  • Well, you obviously have "troble" with English, but that's no reason that no one else should learn another language.

  • amazing how classic sesame street has such good videos! compared to now and days

  • I used to have this very video tape. I remember both the skits before and after the "9" skit.

  • Hehe, I've heard 3 sesame street songs now and that is my favorite so far :)

  • it is not

  • Lol creepy.

  • being well into my thirties, I am both delighted and a little concerned that I knew all the lyrics to this song - and yet I haven't seen this in at least 20 years. Strange how things stay with you....now, if I could only remember my social security number this easily.

  • i remeber i had a computer game of sesame street i had all the clips on it like this one and one about ladybirds and the number eleven.

  • Wow,just wonderful to hear these again:)

  • First may I say this was one of my childhood favourites. Secondly, I would love to be able to play this. Anyone have any idea where I can get the chords for this.

    Thanks, Andy_latics

  • NINETEENT

  • man this brings back memories

  • jon jon!

  • this is still my favorite.. ok, well one of my favs..

  • I remember this clip years ago, but damn I never realized how ugly this cartoon girl is. Martian ugly is more like it! LOL

  • I REMEBER IT.

  • This used to scare me, Does anybody have the 80's sesame street stuff, the CG stuff, I mean pixels, not 3D

  • I remember that freaky girl years ago!

  • Eeeek!

  • i used to have the sesame street PC game and this was on it

  • Haven't heard this song in over 28 years, but as soon as it started, I was immediately able to sing along. It's fun to dust off the memories.

  • @1Jeffyboy

Isn't it funny how many things are buried in our brains? Once I hear these songs again, it's like I heard them yesterday.

  • LOL. She's a freak.

  • this shit is awsome...i cant stop laughing....i cant wait to watch this stoned

  • I think this is where my fear of spiders came from!!!

  • Hot Stuff ;)

  • rotflmao

  • yeash

  • omg this was one of the vids I had when I was little!!! I don't have it anymore : ( I wish the whole thing was on here.

  • this is awsom

  • omg, which exact video is this from? the teeny bit of the clip before it is ringing so many bells.

  • The clip before this one is the King of Eight. Another terrific classic Sesame Street bit :)

  • That's the King of Eight -- it's on here too.

"I'm the King of Eight, and I'm here to state, that everything has to total eight."

  • omg, this was one of my favs, along with the typewriter lmao....

  • its budd lucky he works at pixar now he did bundin

  • who is singing this? It must have been someone we would know.

  • Yeah, whoever it was he did a few good songs for the show. I always liked them.

  • Joe Raposo, who did a lot of music for the show and some mainstream hits (esp. for the Carpenters) as well.

  • Scratch that: this one is Bud Luckey.

  • good sesame steet tune

  • BEAUTIFUL

  • i was 4 last time i saw this and now i am in 6th grade!!!and did you know they changed the them song!!!it was a lot better when i was little

  • Whoa! What a flash back! I loved this the first time I watched the video! Whoa! I am going to like... cry!

  • AWESOME! can you say nostalgia!

  • i was scared that i would turn out to look like her because i only have 4 toes on one foot but now that i am 41 i know i am safe from looking that scarey and can laugh about it!

  • this scares me but its a good way to learn to count to 9!

  • when i was a kid i had a video with dat on luv it!

  • Wonderful! Despite not having seen this in over 30 years, I sang right along

as if it were yesterday. Thanks for posting!

  • This is so funny. I remember watching this as a child in the 1970's probably.

  • I love the whole song and the number 9 cutie!

  • I used to looove this!

  • this cute little ditty is very catchy and cute i remember this when i was a little girl and i am going to be 24 in august oh the great memories of sesame street

  • OMG! I learned this when i was little and I am 41! I saw the first Seseme Street broadcast in Canada when i was 3. ( Aired in the US before that ). I taught this song to my two young daughters, i got it right too!.

  • This is my other favorite, the other is the aligator king.

  • yo thats a spiderpuss

  • i love sesame street!! its funny all the time! sure , telytubbies is fun once but what happened to great shows like sesame street or the muppets? or rainbow!!! they had stuff for grown ups too!! yeeeaa!!

  • Who sings this? He sounds familar

  • Its crazy how you never think about something for over 15 years, then you see it again and realize it has been stored in your brain that whole time!

It's like when you are a kid, you just pick up things like a sponge, without even conciously thinking about what you are watching.

I really didn't consider Sesame Street as one of my favorite shows, but it affected me more than I'll probably ever know!

  • I remember this one being produced. The San Francisco jazz Great Turk Murphy is the singer. Bud Luckey Directed and animated and composed. Don hadley was the co-lyricist.

  • You remember it being produced? Putting that sentence together with the "Luckey" in your username--does that mean you are related to Bud Luckey?

  • Yes. I don't often comment on this stuff, but since there were questions posted that I knew the answers to I thought I'd chime in. I'm pleased everyone enjoys these old films -- frankly I figured they'd never be seen after 1980 or so. But then again, who foresaw YouTube.

  • Wow. So wait---are you actually Bud Luckey himself? Or, again, are you related to him in some way? (If you would rather not answer that, that's okay. I'm just curious.) I would like to say, though, that I personally love "That's About The Size Of It"---if you know which one I mean.

    And this "9" song has been a back-and-forth hallmark between my sister and I for years. :}

  • No, but I'm realated. I doubt he's "YouTuber" (but who knows --). I'll pass along the kind comments next time I talk to him.

  • Tell him he's awesome for me. He made the best memories for alot of people on this site, he really did. Bud is a great guy.

  • Yeah. I almost never comment on these but since I knew the answers to some of the questions posted I thought I'd chime in. I'm pleased they're still so popular. Thanks for the post.

  • Wow, time warp! :)

  • Oh my gosh it's been years!!!! The great part is I could still sing along with the song. LOL!

  • Sesame Street of today can't hold a match to Sesame Street of the good ol' days.

  • have to agre with you there

  • me too. if you can remember some song or visual that you haven't heard or saw for 30 years, that says something right there.

  • It's too bad a lot of old Sesame Street videos seem to have been removed from YouTube. This was one of my favourites, and my kids' favourites too.

  • Omg.. I loved this, but somehow, oddly forgot it. As soon as I saw it all the memories came flooding back! wow.

  • OMG! I remember this! I still have the tape of this, somewhere.

  • This use to be one of my favorites songs on Sesame Street when I use to watch the show.

  • Is that Allan Sherman on vocals? It sure sounds like him.

  • I am 99% sure that it is Turk Murphy and his Jazz Band. You can get recordings of him singing "Alligator King" and "Penny Candy Man" on his CD, "Wild Man Blues".

  • Damn - I thought that was Burl Ives!

  • Damn this one is coming back to my mind as one of my favorites!! I love classic Sesame Street. I wish I could of seen the Jon Jon clip that was about to come on! That lil boy is sooo cute!

  • THANK YOU !!!!

  • Not only men are from Mars, not only women from Venus

  • Jon Jon. The squeaky cutie. I love the Number Nine song and the ?accidental? teasers before and after are great.

  • Oh! I'm looking for the clip right before this - the King of 8! Are you able to post that one, please?

  • You can buy this on DVD.

    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0001OGUQS/

  • Oh man - the grover and Jon-Jon skit you see a second of right after this one is SO adorable - someone post it please!!! Its every bit as heartwarming as the little gril doing the "cookie monster" alphabet w. kermit!

  • The Martian beauty. This was easily one of my favourite counting cartoons on Sesame Street.

  • WOW. I have the numbers VHS that had this toon on it.

  • so many memories

    thanks for these

anyone got the part where snuffleupagus was actually confirmed by the adults as real?

  • Martian Beauty is one of many counting animated shorts Bud Luckey directed for Sesame Street -- others include The Alligator King, Ten Tiny Turtles, and Ladybug Picnic. Thanks for posting this!

  • i remember em all. good times.

  • what an ugly thing.......used to freak me out as a kid.....:)
