@MrLppa SRC is the acronym for the network's full name "Société Radio-Canads" They tried to put it in in 1992 but people in Québec just kept calling it "Radio-Canads" so the SRC went back to Radio-Canada a few years later.
i remember watching satellite as a kid and i liked watching CBC here in the US, this was the logo -- I don't get why CBC dropped the "public broadcasting" slogan, i think it is important to promote that they are public broadcasting and be proud of that fact.
I like the effects, but you know, thanks to this vid, I would like the logo to be a little better thn it is now. When you stop it at 3 sec., just before the half and quarter circles disperse, you may see a rosette. It won't change much, but can CBC use that as their next logo? Just curious.
awesome, i remember this growing up in the '90s. I thought it was cool how they would have the same graphics on the french channel, only the voiceover would be "Ici Radio Canada" haha
When SRC became Radio-Canada? And why?

@MrLppa I dont know - the answers may be on the CBC website if you care to check it out.

@Golbez1991 Wouldn't it be Societe Radio-Canada? instead of Canads?
Ecossaise 9 months ago
@Ecossaise This was an obvious typo. It is not Radio-Canads it is Radio-Canada. *sigh*

Just one small question - is that Carole MacNeil doing the voiceover? Sure sounds like her .

@Dan1988A I think it is her voice actually :D

the ending sounds like a fluttering of butterflies
PeterOnoLennon 1 year ago
@PeterOnoLennon Hm ,,, it sort of does! Perhaps that was the intended effect ! :D
Ecossaise 1 year ago
@PeterOnoLennon Maybe it gives homage to the color butterfly they used as their logo in the late60's to early 70's. :)

For 1990s-era CGI, that is awesome (and easily matches the sign-on/sign-off sequence).

Is there a version of the ident without the speech?

I'm not sure if there is. Perhaps there is another version online somewhere.

I think the voiceover was just "This is CBC" when this ident premiered in 1992.
