A clean shovel makes it easier to dig a hole. It slides in the dirts alot better. Also it is more aerodynamic when you swing at your neighbors dog. My flowers hate when I place them in a hole that has been dug out with a rusty shovel.

Honey, there are much easier ways then going through all this. Ever heard of WD-40, simply spray and wipe off. Too, NEVER use veggie oil to coat tools, it will turn into glue after it dries and attract bugs, I learned that the hard way years ago. Wd-40 and a green scrubbie, and some rags, all you need.
