Great footage of Bermuda in the early 50’s, and yes, to think of how much the Island has changed since then. Good point on the Lion Fish at 3:18. It reminds me of the footage and pictures I've seen from that period. Still, maybe that one part of the Lion Fish was edited from footage taken at an Aquarium. Perhaps even at The Bermuda Aquarium.
Great footage of BDA in the early 50’s. To think how much the Island has changed! Good point on the Lion Fish at 3:18. Obviously, the video looks totally authentic and reminds me of the footage and pictures I've seen from that period. Still, maybe that one part was edited from footage taken at an Aquarium. Perhaps even at The Bermuda Aquarium.
Here it is it was made to seem that the Lionfish was just introduced to the island over the last five years but here it is at 3:18 you can see a Lionfish.
I noticed 3 thumbs down comments against ronaldosarah69. I think hie/hers is a vlid commeny. I was born & raised in Bermuda & was 7 years old when this was filmed. I can assure you there were many black people in Bermuda but there is a noticeable absence of any (OK - a few) in this film. BUT, it was during the days of segregation! Nevertheless, a wonderful film of old Bermuda.
I have family that live in Bermuda and I travel there on a regular basis...this vid is truely a treat!....its amazing how so much of the island has hardly changed in the last fifty years!
It's even more ironic that some of the best footage from Bermuda back in the day was filmed / commentated by someone of Portuguese descent - when they were treated like 3rd class citiizens. Portuguese should have been Bermuda's 2nd language. Thanks for the post.
wow this is amazing! I just finished looking at pictures of old Bermuda, it's so much better seeing actual video :-) thanks soooo much for posting this, I'll be sure to forward it on to my friends and family!
As a Bermudian & current resident, it is so cool to see the Bermuda that my parents grew up in. Amazing how some parts of the Island have changed very little while others are completely transformed. Thanks for posting!
I love this video.. so much. I am Bermudian, of Portuguese decent, so listening to it in Portuguese was really cool.. My family go back to the early 1920's

I grew up in Bermuda and was 3yo at this time, yet it is exactly as I remember it. I left in 1967 and never returned. Thank you for the memories.
PS I also have fond memories of all my Portugese friends and school-mates.

The narrator is Brazilian, speaking a very archaic Portuguese of the period.
balham456 3 years ago 2
It is Brazilian Portuguese but is not a archaic form. It is the current form and is the proper way of speaking Brazilian Portuguese today.

What is happening is that the guy is doing a narration and using in some instances poetry to explain the beauty of the place.
